Olivia Newton-John Gets Mail From Dead People

In 2005, Olivia Newton-John found herself heartbroken when her lover, Patrick McDermott, disappeared while on a fishing trip. Presumed dead all these years, it has now come to light that in fact, he is alive!
Officials hired to investigate exactly what had happened to Patrick claim they have received a fax letter sent on his behalf from Mexico, where he is alive and well!
The story goes that Patrick faked his death in order to escape his problems and for the last four years has been working as a deckhand in small Mexican village. He obtained a second passport and cleared out his life savings in order to make the transition. This most recent fax is actually sent from a person claiming to represent the former cameraman:
"Pat has asked that I portray to you his innocence. Pat has committed no crime. Pat simply wishes to be left alone. Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started anew again in a new place both physically and mentally. Stop this search immediately."
We find this to be fairly insensitive and completely creepy.
How could he do that to her?

I saw Patrick 2 weeks ago in the Romantic Zone in Puerto Vallarta. He was only wearing shorts and walking out of a little store with a plastic cup of beer. He said "Cheers!" as we passed. He is most definitely alive.

receiving a typed fax would not convince me that someone presumed dead was actually really alive. I sincerely doubt that fax came from that guy. Whomever killed him is probably who really sent it.
