Joan Rivers Delivers, But Not That Much

On Sunday, Comedy Central aired the roast of Joan Rivers as part of The Comedy Central Roast series. The program drew 2.8 million total viewers and a 1.6 18-49 rating, which is impressive, but apparently not enough to beat previous programs, including the roast of Larry The Cable Guy!
On his roast, Larry brought in 4.1 million viewers and a 2.3 rating!
Wow.
That isn't so surprising though: there are more hicks in the world than their are old people who can remember when Joan was relevant.

I watched it. It was decent except for when Gilbert Gottfried got up there and went WAY to far with Robin Quivers.

I agree, a little too far on Robin Quivers. The RULES were no Melissa Rivers jokes. A couple little tiny ones squeaked by, the rest stopped or edited. That's why the whole show sucked. I used to like her but if you can't make fun of her horse mouth daughter, who cares. The plastic surgery jokes, if you heard one, you heard them all, from Joan. It was sad since I used to think she was great!!!! Listen, your daughter picked show business so she is fair game grandma!!!!
Didnt watch it last night but was at the taping……I enjoyed the whole thing. really was fun
Watched it. Her stylist should have had her in either slacks or long dress as her lower legs were distracting…. She looked like she was having fun… on another note… Gilbert Gottfried was hysterical, and either Tom Arnold is a genius or just stupid… I haven't figured him out yet… the other roasters did a good job, too…. although there was too much overlap of material… i.e. Melissa's riding on Joan's coattails. etc. I agree with ScareyLisa's comments.

I watched a bit of it, but I had to get up early so I turned it off during the middle of the show. It seemed alright, though not as funny as I thought I'd be.
Oh and I forgot to mention–that talentless HACK daughter of hers is the most miserable excuse for a "celebrity" I've ever seen. She's forced down our throats simply because she's Joan's daughter and the bitch can't even read a teleprompter let alone come up with even one original thought. Joan should be embarrassed of that thing.
It wasn't the funniest one, but the Gilbert Gottfried joke about f-ing Joan Rivers was the most hilarious thing I've heard in a long time. And I don't even LIKE Gilbert Gottfried. A unicorn poking his head from Joan Rivers vajayjay, FUNNY!!

I watched it, and I think the jokes were very repetitive, sometimes not very original. The best ones were that jewish girl, the guy who's from Everybody loves… that guy;who else?? Hmmm, I guess the black woman was decent, the others just sucked. Kathy or Kate, whatever (I'm not good with celebrity names) Griffin was an annoying bitch.

Nothing new or original. Didn't even watch long enough to see Joan. And yes, she WAS relevant, but sadly no longer. Melissa will never be relevant.
I started watching, and Kathy was a great host, but every comic that got up there had the same old tired jokes. Very dirty and not too funny.

I did….I love Joan and I loved her jokes, Robin's and the Everybody loves….guy. I agree that Gilbert Gottfried went WAY to far with the Robin Quivers jokes. They were not funny, and I think she was a real good sport to laugh at them.

I usually watch them (at 1 am, so they are not censored) but this one was so BORING I only managed a half hour, then turned back at the end to see what Joan had to say. Lame. Just Lame. she lost her funny.
Hells yes I watched it!! It was great. I never used to like her before the Celebrity Apprentice.. But seeing her on that show put her in a new light for me.. no she's not a sweet old lady or anything. She's feisty and very funny!

I figure Comedy Central will play it over and over and over again just like the other roasts. I'd rather watch the late-night unedited version, otherwise there is so much bleeping, the comedians can't be understood. As far as roasting subjects, she's more relevant than pam anderson or flava, but less than Shatner or (sadly) Larry the Cable Guy.

Saw it. Very funny. Gilbert was hilarious. Relevance is a funny thing and has zero to do with quality. Joan Rivers is funny- the cable goon is a one note snooze fest.
Joan Rivers is more vicious than a rottweiler with rabies. There is nothing funny about her. If there ever was anything funny, it's long gone.
