Julia Beats Out Julie As The Bestseller!

The late, great Julia Child still knows how to sell a cookbook, with a little help from Meryl Streep.

Since the release of the biopic Julie & Julia, Julia Child's classic book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, has been selling out everywhere, topping the charts of Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com, and severely outshining the Julie Powell's memoir that the movie was based on.

In fact, the $40 book actually sold out on Amazon yesterday, so another 75,000 copies were ordered immediately!

Wow! Way to go, Julia!

The book may be outselling Julie Powell's book, but it'sm because of Julie's work that people have taken such an interest in Julia Child again!

So who gets the money since she has no heirs? Saw the movie and Meryl was awesome however, too much about Julie and not enough about Julia. The storyline didn't even include her tv shows, tsch tsch!! …the most interesting part of her career.
Boo to the screenwriter. Most in the theatre left feeling not satisfied, as they were Julie Child fans, not Amy Adams.

the julie powell part of the movie was horrid. the husband ate like a pig and it was hard to look at him. amy adams sucked. no one cares about her.
if they had done just a movie on julia, that would have been much better.
fortunately for me, i have my grandmothers copies of all julias cookbooks.
