Bryan Singer To Be A Battlestar Director?

Bryan Singer, the man behind the X-Men movies, Superman Returns, and Valkrie, is very close to a deal to produce and possibly direct a brand-new Battlestar Galactica feature film.

The project had been discussed almost eight years ago, but because of the tragedy of 9/11, the film never made it to life. (As we understand it, a big part of the movie was a colossal sneak attack from the bad guys, so the studio got nervous and axed the flick.)

Now, after the cult success of the TV show version, Universal Studios sees potential in a film franchise and is looking to have Bryan bring it to life.

However, no details about the flick have been released other than Bryan's creative attachment and it is unclear if Bryan will use his original concepts for the film or go in a new direction.

What kind of Battlestar movie would U like to see?

you guys are fucking idiots. who gives a shit about what the director looks like! have any of you morons ever even heard of this show?

battlestar galactica was an AMAZING show the second time around and a movie would be amazing for it. i don't see really how it will work unless it's a follow up on living on earth. there's already a dvd coming out called "the plan" focusing more on the cylonds. it's coming out in october.

    6. 6

      *cylons

Hopefully he directs one that turns that awful finale into a dream sequence and closes the story properly. Brilliant TV show absolutely destroyed by it's own ending.

    15. 15

How about he goes back and fixes that horrible Xmen 3 movie.

    16. 16

His eyes are about half the size they should be.

    17. 17

Bryan Singer is a good director (Except for Valkyrie!) and it's so great that he's openly gay and so comfortable with his sexuality. He's also very handsome and aging well. Looking forward to Battlestar Galactica!

    18. 18

Dude looks like David Hasselhoff with plastic surgery.

    19. 19

      GROSS!!!!!!!! GAY FACE!

    20. 20

KEEP THE ORIGINAL CAST FOR THE LOVE OF GODS!

    21. 21

Perez, your site is a load of cumshit.

    22. 22

      One WITHOUT BRYAN SINGER!!

X-Men series started out okay and clearly went downhill, Superman Returns sucked, and Valkyrie was horrendous. Where could he go from there??

      he'll destroy Battlestar…

    23. 23

I would love to see a Battlestar movie with him no where near it…. plus the show is so completely tied up no need for a movie

    24. 24

      lol, david hasselhoffs SON!

this movie is going to be like star trek, and entertaining remake of a 70s show. not the 2003 re-imaging series, which is the best tv show ever and it deserves to be a movie, but it would not garner enough ticket sales than a battlestar movie made for people who never watched either show would. SO - i'll watch whatever kind of BSG movie is made, but i sure hope its better than superman.

    26. 26

      this is a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea!

    27. 27

Do what they did with the last Star Trek, go in it's own direction, it shouldn't be beholden to the Series. Even though the series was good, the movie should be bigger, with MUCH less empahsis on the little troubles of the charaters romances and much more on the journey, the action etc…

Re: Crazydude – He was not the director for the 3rd Xmen film.

    29. 29

      A franchise???? Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
BSG re-imagined was the best show ever, with the most perfect storyline, acting, directing and music. Please don't ruin it by watering it down into a series of Hollywood feature films! This is not Star Trek!!!!
What is there left to tell about this universe anyway? They FOUND EARTH for frak's sake! First cylon war is depicted in Caprica. Cylon side of the story in The Plan. Kobol and Earth v1 in the Final 5 Dynamite comic books. Plus they would never manage to gather a crew of actors as brilliant as the ones who played in the series.
And what kind of project from 8 years ago are you talking about? The Richard Hatch one? Please, no!!!!! NOOOOO!!!! Any re-boot of the story would be unacceptable. The re-imagined series is perfect, leave it there.

Re: Spindoc – The character's "little trouble" was what made the RDM series so brilliant, it gave a human (or cylon) face to how it is to live on the run as a war refugee, to hold on to some form of everyday life when you no longer have a home and create a new one while on the run, to not know whether you're really the person you think you are, to have to make difficult decisions everyday in order to keep going, to preserve notions of democracy, ethics and family when everything else is falling apart, to stick with your close ones no matter what. It's not about the space battles or the technology: it's about us, humanity. Our flaws, our glory, our personal journeys.
Oh how I love this show!

    31. 31

      o pls not him
that superman movie and the last x men movie were hideous

he will totally fuck a great series

    32. 32

I don;'t care as long as they do something with Battlestar Galactica!! I have missed the show since it went off this spring :( At least they're coming out with "Caprica," which is like a prequel and it will star Esai Morales, who no doubt was persuaded/helped into the project by his old buddy and co-star Edward James Olmos, who was on the new BSG!!

    33. 33

This guy has a frightening face.

I was in the generation of the OLD BSG and I would prefer a movie around that story line. I did not care for the new series. Starbuck was NOT a girl and I REFUSE to accept that.

Plus: Lorne Greene as Adama was AWESOME. His death scene is one of the best death scenes in all of sci-fi.

    34. 34

      That picture looks majorly photoshopped…

    35. 35

Unless it is connected to the SyFy television series I don't want to see it.

    36. 36

one that builds on the existing canon

    37. 37

Are they planning to do a movie on the Cylon's that they released with the Cylon ship? Are they going to come back & fight because they were repressed for so long & now they feel they are justified to some sort of revenge?!!
WOW, why when something is going well does hollywood try & exploit it as much as they can rather than letting a FANTASTIC series end the way it was written! BSG was awesome, loved it all, the actors were brilliant, just leave it alone!
