What's going on with Mariah Carey?
We mentioned earlier that Mimi kept canceling events and scheduled appearances.
You know, cause she's so busy and all.
And we mentioned that she would probably also delay her new album again, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. Turns out we were right.
Mimi's people just confirmed the delay on her website. It states:

Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can't wait for the fans to hear the new album !!
We wouldn't be surprised if it gets postponed again.

When an album gets delayed it usually means it sucks.

Her latest single, although not a great one, is still in the top 20..even after the "big hard drop" you pointed out a few weeks ago. It may not be her best showing, but it's certainly not her worst. Some of her biggest flops are still considered better than some artists' biggest success. If you're going to be a record company exec, you're going to have to learn about some of these record company tactics and what they actually mean. I can tell you one thing.. MEMOIRS will do a lot better than Slimey.

How can anyone say Mariah's latest single is a failure? It's still doing fairly well on Billboard, Amazon, and Itunes. So it hasn't made the top 10–there aren't many artists who were around 20 plus years ago doing that either–still a good showing nonetheless. I'm not a big Mariah fan, but I don't understand why Perez continues to passive-aggressively bash her when other other artists whom are experiencing the same thing as Mariah right now get a free pass (Madonna's single debuted at #71–where's the "epic failure" write-up about that?). If you all keep listening to what Perez tells you what is a failure and what's supposed to be good, you're never going to have any idea of what's really going on out there in the music world.
I think because the first single wasn't as blown up as they hoped, they are going to sit on the back burner for a bit until Whitney has her "moment"… if Whitney's album blows up big (and I suspect it will) Mariah might have some trouble.. but people, lets remember who has the most #1 singles… quit dissing Mariah whenever she doesn't have a hit. She postponed because Obsessed flopped hard! It is doing average in US, but outside US is not taking her crap anymore. E=MC2 already flopped hard outside US (sold less than 1m), this one will do even less. She's becoming a local act, while all other divas, Madonna, Celine, Whitney, and younger generation Britney, Christina and Beyonce are still global.

It was the 28th best selling album of 2008. Of the 1000s of albums that were released in 2008, it placed 28….and you want to call that a flop? Do you even know what "flop" means, or do you just like to say it?
If Amazon pre-orders are a good indicator of predicting how these albums will do in the "Battle of the Divas," it looks like Whitney is the clear winner so far. Madonna & Mariah are about neck and neck right now, but the person that has them both beat is …Streisand! And by a wide margin. And that's the more expensive 2-CD version of her upcoming album. These battles are fun but kind of stupid anyway, because anyone without a restricted taste in music will buy at least more than just one of these artists' albums. Or they'll buy neither one of them.

Whitney & Barbra haven't released a video yet, and yet their albums are doing better pre-sale. I certainly doubt Madonna's video will have an effect on American listeners…maybe the rest of the world. Besides, Madonna is not releasing an album..she's releasing a greatest hits CD. It may or may not do well, seeing that people have probably already downloaded most of those songs for free.
I love the hate comments on here they are so ridiculous. First of all, Perez, I don't get why you're so eager to have this album yet. I'm sure you won't be on line to get the CD, so shut up. If you're trying to make this story "scandalous", it's not. Not at all.

I basically said Whitney & Barbra not having a video out right now has nothing to do with how well their CURRENT albums are doing in pre-release sales. Do you understand that now?
