Okay, what's the deal Mariah Carey? You're wiling to do your husband's crappy talent show, but not anything legit? Where is the logic in that?
So far, Miz MiMi has canceled on the Today Show, VH1 Storytellers, the MTV Video Music Awards, and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
The latter is just stupid! You don't even have to sing! You just have to stand there and look pretty! Surely, you can handle that!
While Mariah's management continues to stay mum about the cancelled events, some are suggesting that the reason behind all the cancellations is in direct correlation to the possible SECOND postponement of her Mariah's latest album. It might come to be that Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will not be released on September 15, 2009, but at a later, currently unknown date.
But why? That's just silly! Maybe there will be a song on there that is better than Obsessed. You won't know till you try!

Many bands from 20 years ago have been able to make plenty of money without putting out a new song in 20 years. They work hard. They put together inexpensive tours, don't charge a buttload of money for tickets, and tour their asses off singing the hits from yesterday that people want them to sing.
Mariah could do this every year for years and make more than enough money. Why she doesn't, we'll never know, but every year she doesn't she just hurts herself in the long run. Sucks to be her.
Lesson people: No matter how talented an artist is, many times it's the people that surround them that are largely responsible for their success, not just the artist.

I don't know why she cancelled all those other events, but her last album, E=MC2 was postponed a million times before it was released, and it still performed well.

Am I the only one that thinks this was the plan all along. Think about it, the movie she's in, "Precious," is being released in November. Her new album would be released at the end of September/early October so she will be in America's face for like 2 months; September to promote her album, October to promote the movie. The movie itself has received rave reviews & even won both the Grand Jury Award & the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival which is very very very rare. I've read that one of Ms. Carey's songs, "100 Percent," will be featured in the film as well as her new album. So when she's promoting the movie I'm sure she'll be performing her album by performing that song everywhere. It's like killing two birds with one stone since I believe "Precious" will not have an original motion picture soundtrack. At the end of the day it's always business.
Further more, whitney pushed her album back a bunch of times yet nobody knocks her for that. whitney's album was originally to be released in November 2008 but it got pushed back almost a YEAR!!! whitney took like 3 years to make her album, Ms. Carey has been working on hers less than one year. Just let her be.

No one has mentioned the possibility that perhaps all of these events are coinciding with fertility treatment. IVF in particular does not have set dates–the procedures that accompany it are scheduled last minute based on your body's response. I personally think she is putting family before career and if that's the case, good for her!
