Olympic track star Usain Bolt from Jamaica broke his own world record while running the 100-meter final at the World Championships in Berlin on Sunday night!!
Bolt ran the 100m in 9.58 seconds, clobbering the previous world record of 9.69 seconds set by Usain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Bejing.
You have to see it to believe it!!!

Tyson Gay, from Lexington Kentucky, held the world record as well as the American record for the 100 m at 9.77. Today's race…Bolt broke his own personal best record but he never held the world record until today!! In today's race, Gay set a new American record and recorded his own personal best at 9.71.

Actually "cntrygrl" Perez facts are correct. Usain did beat his own world record of 9.69 that he set a last year's Bejing Summer Olympics. Plus before that Usain held the World Record of 9.72 set on June 1, 2008 in New York (USA).

He's immaculate out of the blocks, and is technically as close to perfect as a sprinter can get. He's grown up in a perfect competitive sprinter's environment, with coaching to die for, surrounded by sprinters to die for. The cherry on top is his naturally relaxed attitude; he doesn't get rattled, so he can focus.
See how fast a black runs when he knows crack is waiting for him at the finishing line.

9.69 is for the OLYMPIC record NOT world record. He Just broke the WR for the (100 meters) for the first time today in Germany. He set the Olympic record @9.69 but never broke the world.

Asafa Powell had (9.77 9.74) then bolt broke Asafa last record by going 9.72 in which he ran against Tyson back in May 2008…and of course Bolt broke that record in august 2008 at the olympics going 9.69 and again exactly 1 yr broke it and went 9.58. If u do ur research you'll see that tyson has never made a world record. He however has the NR of 9.71 and he has equalled powell's and bolts previous records..he never made them.

Plus i was not in any shape. I was too scared to walk or run it… the lanes are so narrow and I get scared that I'm going to get hit by a car… It amazes me to see natives walk it w/ no fear at all. I went up to Mandeville with a couple friends I met there, needless to say after they showed me a spot where a semi truck went off the cliff and down into the valley I decided walking was NOT in my best interest. I do run when I can but to run in that heat along the mountains with that type of narrow road? I PASS! Undertakers love overtakers (one of funniest road signs I saw there).

The Confusion STEMS from the fact that this is the FIRST time Bolt has won THIS EVENT (the World Athletics Championships). This is Bolt's FIRST time being the WORLD CHAMPION ( although he broke the world record AT the OLYMPIC GAMES). Tyson Gay is notated as the DEFENDING Champion because in '08 he pulled his hamstring. Yesterday's race was when he ( Gay) finally defended his title FOR THIS EVENT The WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS and LOST his title to Bolt.
No doubt it's due to a new type of performance enhancing drug.

Not a band-wagon type person, just that not to many international track events are broadcast in the states, so I didn't get the pleasure of seeing Usain till the Olympics. He is a phenomenal athelete and I love to watch anybody with that much confidence.
