Michael Vick Apologizes!!

We hope this isn't a ploy to garner goodwill in the NFL!

Although he has made vague statements about being remorseful for his former dog-abusing ways, Michael Vick has released an official apology denouncing his previous behavior and his intentions to turn over a new leaf.

Here are some of the HIGHlights:

On his crimes:
What I did was horrendous. Awful. Inhumane. And I've no excuses for my actions. It makes my heart hurt now to think about what I've done. And I'm gonna be real honest, it took a while for me to get to this place.

On coming to grips with his former self:
I have been trying hard to connect with people who feel this pain, because for my whole life I was disconnected from the suffering of animals. And you might say, "come on Mike, how could you do those things to those dogs?" And you're right…I ask myself those questions every day. What kind of person does this? How does a human-being treat dogs or any animal with such pain and cruelty? And the hard part for me is the answer to these questions. Because the answer is ME. And I am trying so hard right now to become a better person, because who I was, I am ashamed of.

On redemption:
Now that I'm trying my best to wake up, I know I have a lot of work to do. And this isn't about trying to win a Super Bowl ring or a MVP trophy…this is about trying to save lives. I think back to when I use to play football and of course I use to see all those kids in the stands wearing #7 jerseys. And I would never want them to look up to the Michael Vick who did all of those terrible things to the dogs. I know where I need to do the most work is with all of the people around the world who continue to fight dogs. Let me be straight forward with y'all: What I did was wrong, and what you're doing is wrong. We must stop dog fighting, and I will do everything in my power to be a voice of someone who has finally woken up from the numbness, and knows just how bad it really is. My mission now is to be a source of service to save many animals. I am working very closely with The Humane Society and will be launching a new campaign shortly. If I had one hope in life, it would be that my actions will speak louder than my words. I know it will be hard to forgive me until you see my sincerity through my actions, but I promise you and I promise myself that that day will come. Lastly, I accept this challenge, not of writing this blog, but of redeeming myself.

He better be for realz!

Do U think he should be forgiven?!

Anyone who eats meat who is raging against Michael Vick is a huge hypocrite. What he did was horrendous, but so are factory farms and slaughterhouses. You yourself contribute to the pain, suffering, and heartless killing of animals EVERY DAY. Think about it.

      i AGREE!!

    3. 203

Re: YUCK – you would suck this monsters dick the second he waved it in front of you. killing animals is what serial killers do. what the fuck is wrong with you? if i was convicted on drunk driving, i would lose my medical license and never work in the medical field again. do other convicted felons make millions after they are released fro jail? you want a fucking rapist watching you daughter at daycare? you want a fucking gang member as a security guard with access to weapons, you want someone convicted of robbery working with access to money? oh, wait you do because no one in your family would ever work again.
and for all you cocksucking jebus freaks, do you think god is really happy this monster killed and tortured HIS creatures. vick was essentially playing god when he decided to kill these animals. you are a filthy human.

      Re: turtle333
i thought about it and you dont know the first fucking thing about what i do.
as far as i know farm animals are not electrocuted, drowned, tortured, have their heads slammed into the floor, for over 6 fucking years. shut the fuck up and educate yourself.

    5. 205

WHO THE FUCK CARES? IT WAS A DOG NOT A PERSON!

    6. 206

Re: ktheg8 – i wouldnt want to be cool with someone who tortured an animal or drove drunk and high and killed someone. i doubt you d say the same thing if it was someone you loved who was killed by a driver under the influence. this just shows how detached ppl are from other human beings. what MV did was awful, but at the end of the day, we are talking about dogs. i think id be more willing to forgive someone who drowned my dog over someone who ran over my MOM. just sayin.

    7. 207

I cant put my hate towards this monster in words. he is an embarrassment to nature. he doesn't deserve to see the light of day. they should hang him off a tree and have 15-20 dogs eat him alive. what he did has no excuse and should never, EVER, be forgiven.

    8. 208

ok, just so you know, you all sound stupid, calling perez and mv names, i understand what he did was wrong and sick, i think so myself, and i personally dont like him. But guess what, he is signed on to the eagles, and whether it is sincere or not , he has to appologize and do good. Goodness, you people sound stupid, when your saying you want him to rot in hell, your being just as bad as a person. And perez has his own opinion just like you, nothing to do with race.
good gosh you kind of people make me laugh.

    9. 209

Re: no on 8 – im sorry but i think you are being a bit dramatic. yes, serial killes have been known to kill animals in childhood. but that is for the sake of killing as watching a living thing die for pleasure. i doubt he was getting a thrill out of this. hunters kill animals. are they potential serial killers too? give the guy a break. he was raised thinking this was okay. now he sees that it not cool. let it go. comparing him to a rapist is insane. if you were raped im sure you wouldnt compare the actions of your rapist to the actions of MV. lets not dwell on what he did AND GOT PUNISHED FOR. lets see what he does in the future. judge him based on what he does after rehablilitation.

    10. 210

      Re: The Babe

I didn't say i'd be cool with them, I said if I had to pick which one to be friends with, it'd be the person who drove drunk and killed someone. I'm not running out on the street looking for people who have committed vehicular homicide– but between the two, which is more heinous? Accidental (because it is accidental, even if the person driving is drunk) vehicular homicide or calculated murder and torture?

Humans and animals are different, both legally, physically, and psychologically. For example– Vick went to jail for 20 months for torturing and killing multiple dogs (bc I don't know the specific number). If he killed humans instead, he'd be a serial killer and behind bars for the rest of his life. So, yes, animals and humans are treated differently. Where we need to draw the line is when the murder is intentional or accidental. If you'd honestly take someone that intentionally kills any living being over someone who kills by accident– well, you have to live with yourself. I just don't understand how anyone can say it's OK to kill animals because they're not humans– especially when intentions are accounted for.

Re: ktheg8 – you are right,..you did post that,..my bad,..but bottom line, I believe the question here is, should Vick be forgiven,..not whom you rather be friends with. Besides the two are not comparable, so not sure why people keep bringing that up.

    12. 212

I'm so sick of celebrities doing stupid shit and coming out on top! Regular people have a hard time getting jobs when they do their time. Not to mention the way that others look at them. They should do their time (Which Vick did), but should not be allowed back in the spotlight. Enough.

    13. 213

      sorry doesnt cut it?
      hes apologizing which
      is great!

Stick to the point or stop flaping your gums, shit lips.

Re: ktheg8 – see i guess this is where you and i differ. if you KNOWINGLY take a mind altering substance you know you are putting yourself and others at risk bc you are no longer able to make rational decisions. i don t think is less heinous bc he was under the influence. in a court of law, you cannot use that as a defense unless you were drugged unknowingly.

    18. 218

Meh! Honestly.. he's paid his time. I am willing to move on from being angry about it. What he did was NOT okay. I would like to give him the opportunity to show us that he's learned from his mistake. Sometimes in life, you get caught up doing something you never thought you would do. He's probably ashamed enough of himself. Come on guys, let's try to forgive because holding anger in your heart for someone else is only hurting you.

Re: grace-e – guess you don't read to many books then eh,..ever hear of Ghandi?? No, you probably have not,..you don't sound like someone that has read anything other than a gossip magazine in your limited and ignorant life span,..but Ghandi (respected by the whole fucking world) stated that "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." –Ghandi

Here is one more by Immanuel Kant - "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."

But of course, YOU would know better. Who the fuck are you again, anyways?

      Re: fUkRD

I completely agree. I don't think either are comparable. I just love pulling out the stupid crap that people post on here, because hardly anybody actually thinks when commenting. Thanks for being a fellow bullsh&t spotter.

    22. 222

      Re: The Babe

It's true that drunk driving– without killing someone– is a horrible crime to commit. You do put yourself behind a very heavy weapon without the mental acuity that most people possess while driving. The fact that we're discussing this topic, on this level, is more reason that the NFL shouldn't let any violent offender in the league. No violent criminal is just, no matter whom you compare them to.

In another comment, I said that the two crimes– animal abuse and vehicular homicide+DUI– are completely different. I only brought up the comparison because people were validating Vick's reinstatement into the NFL with Stallworth. Both crimes can and should be avoided. However, I will maintain that someone who commits vehicular murder because of a DUI is less of a nuisance to society than Vick because of one thing: how many times the crime is committed. You can be drunk, get in the car, and kill someone– probably, you'll only do this once in your lifetime. However, Vick repeatedly tortured and murdered animals… committing the crime over and over again. To comment on my discussion of "intention," in relation to this post, I'd say that you don't have to be sick and twisted to drive drunk, but you do have to be sick and twisted to hurt an innocent being.

    23. 223

      Dear Michael Vick,

      Fuck you.

      Sincerely,

      Everyone

    24. 224

He has no sincere interest in what I think about him and I know it.
      =
I do like the idea of putting him naked in a cage for 3 hours with as many angry pit bulls as he was found guilty of killing…and if he survives, seeing how he treated the animals during his cage match.

    25. 225

I am a vegetarian and love animals. I just think anyone who can torture an animal needs to be executed on the spot, period.

    26. 226

I think we should hand him over to a real life Dexter let him take care of the rest I am sure he would make the punishment fit the crime! or jump off a cliff, go bungee jumping without a cord, light a cigarette while pumping gas, or get beaten up and thrown into a pack of wolves any of these would be ok with me.

    27. 227

      Re: Brattus Rattus – 100% I agree.

    28. 228

Re: Desideratum – You're being a specist! What gives you the right and "knowledge" to say humans deserve more rights animals? Does it actually say that in the bible? If it does, maybe we should question if a lunatic actually wrote the bible… how are we to KNOW anything that was written that long ago. God created all beautiful beings on the planet and we're raping every species and the world for all it's worth….it all comes down to $$$$. Just because one type of torture is occurring towards the animals that we give no rights to (lab animals, meat bearing, leather bearing and fur bearing) doesn't mean you can justify individuals torturing animals. These crimes are indicative of a psychopath and most serial killers and murderers started with animals so they need to be TAKEN SERIOUSLY! If you've ever had the love of an animal and know how amazing, tender hearted and what true emotions they have and that they completely at our disposal like children and require us to be good shepperds over them, then you'd understand. I feel sorry for you because you've disconnected, detached and maybe you should tell your parents off immediately for not having pets! Compassion comes from a developed frontal lobe of your brain. My brother thinks animal abusers should be executed on the spot because these are "base" human…waste of space, air and resources. :)

    29. 229

if you dont want to eat meat thats fine but whenever we wear leather or fur or eat any form of animal we have all decided to play God and granted in the bible it states God placed the animals on this earth so we could eat them. I wonder if a lot of people here have a problem with sarah palin going moose hunting or how blue bloods or people of means go fox hunting. I dont see peta breathing down their neck. so not only is peta a hypocrite but they are also racist.

Re: Perezsukkz – 2 years in prison is NOT 6 years of being beaten like these dogs got.
He deserves to see what these dogs went through, to be put into their position. He should work with beaten animals and in shelters instead of making millions on his precious football career, then he'll see what it's like and then he'll be truly sorry.

    35. 235

Good for him. He's trying. and Baldwin also raised good point about such an agenda. If you've never felt bad about something you've done, and you've never needed a second chance…you're either in denial or better hold on tight for when that day does come. To all you haters: no one is perfect…not even you.

    36. 236

Forgiving him and allowing him to make millions again are two different things. People who rape or kill and "do their time" are not allowed to return to the life they had before and he shouldn't be allowed to either. He's a piece of garbage and just because some believe he is a great football player doesn't mean he deserves to play. He's only sorry because he got, he's not sorry for what he did!

    37. 237

If he's genuinely reformed himself, then yes, he should be forgiven if he is willing to spend the rest of his life making amends. But it's going to take a while before I'm convinced

    38. 238

stop being sucha fucking hater, perez, and everyone. he served time, he did something terrible, but he's sorry. so get off his ass about everything. what good does it do to talk about how much you hate him or how much he doesn't deserve to have his life back? i believe that he made a terrible terrible mistake, but i also believe he has god given talent that is undeniable. so just leave him alone. if you dont support him that you dont support him. dont trash him. i forgive him. and i love dogs and i love my dog, but i believe that he was stupid cruel and ignorant. and has to and will do what he can to make amends.

I'll believe in forgiveness if I am asked. So since he is asking, which takes alot of pride swallowing and humility, I forgive him. However, as we all know, that does not mean forgetting and I would not be trusting his words until I see clear, multiple acts of service in the caring and protection of Animals.
He should start with DOGTOWN who took in and tried repair, physically and emotionally multiple pitts from Vicks dog mill. He could start with money - a big whack to help their ministry, and then give a whole lot else to humane societies or others that he can research. I want to hear public service in the form of speaking to his sins regularly with young adults and owners of pits. I'll see what happens in the next year.

Dog fighting is the most disgusting, deplorable thing I can imagine. This isn't about "rapists and murderers" being forgiven, because frankly, they aren't forgiven. Society judges ex-cons with little to no compassion, they generally can't get a job or actively participate in the community, so it's not about that. Micheal Vick did the unforgivable, he tortured dogs and not only that, he spread the false belief that pit bulls are monsters and should be banned. I am a dog walker/ pet sitter and I can tell you now, pit bulls are the most beautiful, caring, sweet dogs you will ever meet, they have the same temperaments as Golden retrievers (look it up) and people like this destroy reality and make people afraid and ignorant. I want to believe you MV, unfortunately you have made little effort until now, now that you're signed to an NFL team and are being FORCED to act. You are a disgusting human being with no heart, I hope you CAN make a difference because you have caused a world of hurt. Shame on you.

    42. 242

sick fuck … hope he does save the lives of animals. Only way to redemption.

    43. 243

I think he should be forgiven. the man served his time. people are so quick to judge him but so many other football players have done a lot worse and they still play. like stallworth only served 30 days. thats a slap on the wrist. you all make me laugh dont get me wrong i love animals but get over it already!

    44. 244

I can recommend that he donate a portion of his multi million dollar pay to a few pit bull rescues like:

Re: fUkRD – PERSONALLY I WOULD RATHER HE KILL ALL THE DOGS IN THE WORLD THAN KILL A PERSON, YOU NEED TO GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT. PEOPLE ARE KILLED AND TORTURED EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK AND YOU PEOPLE DONT BAT AN EYELID, BUT OH GOD FORBID A FEW DOGS GET HURT AND YOURE ALL TRYING TO KILL HIM. AND YES I HAVE HEARD OF GHANDI, BUT I DONT CARE WHAT HE SAYS, ANIMALS HAVE MORE RIGHTS NOWADAYS THAN HUMANS. and i dont know who you think you are by saying "who the fuck are you anyways?" im a person with an opinion that is as vaild as yours. who are you?

    46. 246

the fact that this fucked up behavior has been going on for years sickens me and makes me heavily doubt the human race and the fact he only feels remorse now makes me realize he will never feel ashamed about the things he has done. Its murder. I hope that fuckhead gets whats comin to him…

    47. 247

I love you Perez Hilton but sometimes you can be a little too judgemental. Lest we forget that we all make mistakes and we are all human. If he does it again you can bury him but let's give him a second chance or you risk becoming the very douchebag you call everyone else.

    48. 248

This retard doesn't even know what he is apologizing for!
He is a sadistic barbarian who doesn't know right from wrong if it slapped him in the face. Oh, it pretty much has and he is still clueless.
Just a douche that doesn't have the intellect to deserve a second chance-at least not a lucrative one!

    52. 252

Re: Cita96 – i cant say i care, and yes i am aware of it as there was a huge dogfighting scandel in the past few years where i live. but at the end of the day its a few dogs, dogs that would probably attack people given half the chance (have you never heard of people having their faces reconstruced after being attacked by a dog?). its not like he killed people, people need to get their priorities straight.

& enough-if you dont like the facts-quit bitching..he is gonna be playing, he already served his time..GET OVER IT! there's nothing that you can say or bitch about that will change anything!

    55. 255

to all that says that they wish all the same harm on him have the SAME RAGE INSIDE YOU! all of you have HATE in you as did VICK at the time of all this…
      hello….
he has apologized & asked for forgiveness as ALL OF US HAVE HAD TO DO IN OUR LIVES!!

    56. 256

It’s sad that taking the lives of innocent animals can be redeemed with compensation and just a short jail sentence. Those dogs went through immense suffering; while, Vick suffered only monetary loss.

Anyone who watched the documentary on Vick knows that only one dog was “lucky” enough to have been shot in its head. The other ones who weren’t as “lucky” were drowned, electrocuted and had their bodies slammed against the concrete pavement.

Vick was conditioned his whole life to believe that animals were not beings, but merely objects that could gain their masters financial gain. It’s hard to believe that now…after a short jail sentencing…he has seen the evil in his wrongful ways.

    57. 257

Re: grace-e – Sweetie you need to get your priorities straight. You obviously do not know much about the pitbull breed. These dogs are NOT born to kill. They are a very strong breed, YES, but if they are brought up the RIGHT way, these aggressions will not show. You are speaking because of the stigma attched to this breed. They have the same reputation as the dobermans had in the 70's. I have a pitbull and he is the most gentle loving dog around. Everyone that comes in contact with him absolutely adores him. I have two children whom he protects dearly and is very gentle with them. It's people with your mentality that contribute to the negative stigma attached to these dogs. YES - accidents have happened and they are very unfortunately however in over 90-95% of the cases, these dogs were not being supervised, nor were they obviously well socialized or trained. Anyone with common senses knows not to leave ANY animal alone with children. Period.

    58. 258

Really could careless if the guy can throw a football 80 yards. But what he does and has done makes him unique so if there can be some benefit for humane treatment of animals I am in his corner. Really bad comparison but if Hitler had a cure for Cancer it would be a hard decision as to what I might do? Might rationalize that someday they will find a cure? Sort of like a diamond many facets to look at if you are a third party. But tunnel vision does come into play?

    59. 259

im sorry but when did dog fighting become worse than murdering somebody??
i think he deserves a second chance
i don't exactly forgive him but he should move on and get his life back together

    60. 260

Re: grace-e – Just a few dogs? Do you think 66 dogs are just a few? And don't forget the additional 12 dogs that Vick helped slaughter and bury. That's how many were found at Vick's house.

Also, did you know that Pit bulls score higher on temperament tests than Beagles and German Sheppards? Learn the facts. Do some research.

It's not that killing animals is WORSE than killing humans…it's the fact that it's just AS BAD. Do you think the same way about people? That killing one group of people is better/worse than killing another group of people?

    61. 261

Re: Cita96 – i still dont care, he didn't kill people, would you rather he tortured and killed your family or your dog?Re: LuLuHere – i dont think its equal at all, killing a human is a lot worse than killing a dog

    62. 262

Re: LuLuHere – btw i dont care if it was a pitbull or a poodle at the end of the day its a dog, even in the eyes of the law it isnt as bad. im sure your the type of person who hates when animals are killed but dont care that inncoent people are killed in wars and murdered everyday for no reason.Re: Cita96 – oh and btw dog attacks in the UK have gone up 50% and in the USA 4.7 million people are attacked by dogs every year and that number continues to increase rapidly. i thinks its a little more than unfortunate especially when 33 people a year in the USA alone are either killed or fatally attcked by dogs.
