Time Traveler's Wife Warps To TV

Helmed by Friends creator Marta Kauffman, the adapted novel to film, The Time Traveler's Wife, will now make it to the small screen.
ABC has joined forces with Marta to transform the story into a weekly series, following the successful opening weekend of the film version. The interest in making the novel a television series precedes the making of the film apparently "for years".
Marta will write and executive produce the show, which will feature individual episodes with "self-contained storylines" about the man that spontaneously time travels and the woman he loves.
Since there's already a movie, does there really need to be a TV show too? What's that saying about beating a dead horse?
Do U think a series should be made?

no
I loved the book and the movie was alright and I would love to see it as a TV show if it followed the book more than the movie did. Which I doubt it would.
she looks fucking gorgeous in that poster though
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they will ruin it with a tv series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That show already exists…it's called Doctor Who.
WTF? it doesn't make no sense…from what i heard the movie wasn't that amazing talk about wasting time…NOT WORTH IT FOR A TV SERIES
Yes, because it was the most amazing book ever and in the right hands it could be a great show! The movie was okay, but not enough. The book is so rich and layered so it might be better as a series.
wtf? a series?! i aint even watched the movie yet! blaahh
i dont think it'll make a good series tho..from wut i seen in the previews..wuts he gonna do? appear to pipe her down nd then disappear once she tell him s hes preggo?
um….the show was called Quantum Leap. Not exactly the same, but the same premise.
yes, yes, yes.
just get the right people!! The book was amazing, and I haven't seen the movie yet because everyone said it was disappointing.
No. I did not like the book all that much.
Actually, not Quantum Leap (as he "never leaped home")… more like Journeyman the more recent show that was on Fox I think.
some of you people are so lame!! the movie was amazZing! a show would be great…there's not a lot of good tv anymore, sOo sick of lame ass sitcoms that get canceled after 3 episodes!! i think a show would make for excellent tv. bottom line.
how will it be a series?? lmao i haven't seen it either … and DIEING to
but seriously though ..
It was made - "Journeyman" - and it was good. But it didn't get picked up, so what's the point?
the movie was great!!!
im not sure about a series though
ps.wen i saw this poster at the mall i thought the man was Dr.Carlisle Cullen>>lol
Re: cuppy_us – Yes! that's it! Quantum Leap had the hologram guy that appeared to him while he was in other people's bodies.
It's all coming back to me.
Yep, I'm a dork.
What I heard the movie was kinda lame….hmmm well I guess anything works. Personally I miss the days of quantum leap if they brought that back Id be happy.
So I personally think they should have choosen one. I love Rachel McAdams and she played Clare exactly as how I pictured her in the book. I think the movie was poorly done, the scenes choosen from the book to be in the movie were not the best–i mean they should have put more in. But a TV show would be too much.
such a good movie.
It was already made a couple of seasons ago! It was called Journeyman.
Yep
no! i don't even have any interest in seeing the movie!
Wow no .. not a good idea .. Maybe ONLY ONLY ONLY if they get Rachel and Eric and all the same people .. Fat chance, though.
I think it's a good idea…it's gonna be like Quantum Leap!
~
Nooooooooooooo!
~
I love that book!!!
~
The movie was decent, but a show will murder it. >.
OMG, yes! If the tv series followed exactly the book, then I'd be sooo happy. I haven't seen the movie yet because I'm afraid I'm going to be really disappointed. But I loved the book. I first read it 4 years ago during my senior year, and it's absolutely one of my favorite novels. So I would love to see a series!
I loved the book. I would love to see it turned into a TV series. Hopefully it wouldn't ruin it for me.
I don't think it needs to be made into a television show . . . I think this generation of writers needs to get off their butts and do something original. I sware by TVLand.
a show about a man that spontaneously time-travels? you mean like Quantum Leap?
hmmm…the movie was a nice attempt at bringing the mediocre book to life. A series might be more enjoyable. Mostly because there would never be an episode having one of the two main characters die.
I actually Love the Idea of a show a little better then a movie.. I think you could have more fun with it and a lot better of a chance to Fall in Love with the charecters over time
Re: Mayapapaya1 – I totally agree
eh… i think this is a bad idea.
Haven'tread the book yet, really want to see the movie though. Wonder what the show will be like?
We had one already, a reporter in San Francisco that went BACK to the past to "fix" something…It didn't make it.
HELL NO! Movies like this can't be a show
It's like turning Twilight 2 a show!
Well, if Buffy TheVampire Slayer did it…So can this movie….
They didn't have all the same characters as the movie to the tv show, but it followed the same concept. Ill watch the show…
ABC ALREADY HAD A GREAT TIME TRAVEL SHOW ON RECENTLY AND CANCELLED IT!!
THEY ARE IDIOTS…AND IF THEY EVER CANCEL 'DEFYING GRAVITY' I WILL BE DONE WITH THEM!!
WATCH 'DEFYING GRAVITY'….IT'S LIKE 'LOST'……IN SPACE.
I loved the movie.. however i wish they went with another sort of ending ..
i don't exactly what this movie's about, but it seems oddly similar to quantum leap. making it into a tv show would just increase the similarities. especially because you know the end of every episode is gonna be him jumping to a new time period
yeah I was gonna say… Doctor Who anybody??
Dear God, they already murdered a beautiful book with a horrible movie. Why do they want to shit on its carcass?
The book is AMAZING so I would watch the show. Hope it doesn't suck!
absolutely…i have always thought it would make an amazing show
why should they ruin a beautiful story? it was enough drama for one movie, not a TV serial.. we will see …
I don't. I saw the movie last night and it was confusing as hell. You never knew if he was time traveling or if this guy was from the Past, Future or The Present guy. Besides he died at the end of the movie.
Ummm….haven't they been there done that as in "Journeyman" which was just ok. Can't hollywood come up with fresh ideas anymore?
there was already a tv series..it was called journey man…pretty much the same thing. and it was very unsuccessful.
Loved the book, haven't seen the movie, but I am very curious what Martha Kauffman is going to make of it. Chances are that it sucks, but I'm going to give her a chance, she's very good at what she does.
They already had a really good show with the same topic - Journeyman. It was a great show but got canceled on NBC. I wonder if they will have any of the same producers or writers since the shows were so similar. To try and save the Journeyman show, the fans launched this massive campaign where they sent Rice a Roni boxes to the president of NBC since the show was set in San Fran. Hmm…I wonder if it will piss off the die hard journeyman fans.
It's had awful reviews. GIVE IT A MISS and read the book instead.
Oh yeahh, there should be a series! That movie was so great. After it was over, I said "I could watch 5 more hours of this!" So I would definitely watch the series.
I highly doubt that this show will make it. There already was a show about a married man that spontaneously time traveled called JOURNEYMAN (which was a great show by the way) and that show lasted all of one season.
i wanted to see the movie so bad, went opening night and hated it…so def won't be watching this!
mmm, i love this move. its amazing
Movie was totally lame. Why subject us to more of the same crap?
It was NBC, they had this great show called 'Journeyman' it was so good! I never missed an episode, I always wonder why they didn't continue with that project, they just cancelled it. All the actors and storys in it had a great atmosphere. Get back JOURNEYMAN
The movie missed a lot of details from the book so I think it's a cool idea
No, not planning on watching the movie either.
