Poppa Cyrus Defends Miley's Pole Dancing!

Billy Ray Cyrus doesn't think that anything is wrong with his daughter Miley's pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards last week.
"You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," he told Access Hollywood.
Some feel that a 16-year old Disney star's entertainment should not be geared toward moving men's peens!
"She loves singing [and] songwriting," he adds. "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion."
This isn't about her! It's about your terrible parenting skills!
"I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it's important," said Billy of his cash cows children.

Oi vey. I love how all these little 13-year-old's come on here and defend Miley like she's perfect.
Normally I don't want any of her performances, but this story piqued my interest. I have to say, most of her performance was fine (though choice of clothing was questionable). The pole, however - completely unnecessary and, even though she wasn't swinging around the pole upside down, she was still workin' that pole a little bit.
I think it would be a completely different story of the pole was part of stage, like a support pole or something, and she really was leaning against it solely for support. But no. It was a pole on top of an ice cream cart that they rolled out for the specific purpose of her climbing onto the cart and holding onto it. Also, that little dip-and-straddle she did was inappropriate, especially since she was wearing shorts that barely covered her ass cheeks and there's VERY young children in the audience. If they had left out the pole, the overall performance would have been great (for those who enjoy her music).
I don't think Miley is a slut - she (and her siblings) need better support and guidance from her parents. Mostly she's just doing her thing and that's fine. But when she does things like this… well, her parents need to STOP being her friend and say, "Hey, Miley… not so good. Let's cover our undergarments and stay away from poles."

As a former pole dancer, trust me, that my friends was NOT pole dancing! Was it necessarily appropriate for the Teen Choice Awards? Probably not. But I can think of two of Britney's MTV VMA performances- 2000, when she stripped out of the black suit and fedora to a barely-there flesh-toned number and gyrated around the stage, and 2001 when she did the snake dance. And yet people didn't feel the need to turn on her at the time. She was still America's sweet little pop princess. Seriously folks, lay off Miley. She's just a teenage girl testing out her wings. Just think about the criticism you'd have been subjected to if you had to live your teen years in a glass house?

Wasn't Britney 18 during her satisfaction/oops performance? Or almost 18? Anyway Britney was on Disney's Mickey Mouse club when she was 11 or 12 for about a year, then she left and did other things. She was never considered a Disney star during the time she actually came out and became famous as Britney Spears. Disney was merely a small element of her pass. And It doesn't matter if she was pole dancing or not, the pole is a strong symbol which most people regard to as a prop used for erotic displays. Miley knew what she was doing with this "pole" and what message she was trying to send out. Which is obviously why it's causing so much controversy, no? So, I pretty much lost respect for her when she did this performance even though I'm a fan.

i think that even though she didn't really do much on the pole, the performance all together was provocative. I'm still a teenager and my mom, who doesn't really pay attention to the stars, watched the the whole thing and said the way miley cyrus was acting on staged was immature and a kind of trashy. I don't really care about miley but i think that she should be much less provocative with her moves and what she wore on stage that night.

in all honesty, if the pole had a friggen umbrella attached(like most ice cream buggys do) and she was no standing on top but leaning against it, then this would not be an issue, her clothes would be….i swear i completely went numb when the pole came out, couldn't even hear her song because all i could think was how much my little sister looked up to her. Before I wasn't sure but after this stunt, I definately think she will pose for playboy when she turns 18. She can be as slutty as she wants, but when she is heavily marketed towards my young influential nieces, it becomes personal. It scares me when my 2 year old niece recognizes her and sings the best of both worlds song. My other 8 yr old niece likes her and if she other little girls constantly see her or others acting like that at her age she might think it's okay, or not a big deal. Parents and relatives try to control what children take in, but we can't filter everything. It is especially hard when she decietfully slithered into our homes through disney, which is suppose to be safe, with people who are not going to corrupt our children. She may not have done that on a disney show, but 12 or 13 yr old could have innocently watched the VMAs or what ever she does next. No matter how much you try to protect your child, you can't protect them from second-hand sluttyness. Many other girls want to be like her and children are influenced by their peers.
