Ted Kennedy Wants His Replacement - Now!

Even while severely ill, Sen. Edward Kennedy is focusing on the good of the nation and on getting his position filled ASAP.
The Senator, who's battling brain cancer, has sent a letter to Massachusetts state leaders requesting that they expedite and fill his Congress seat.
In his letter, Kennedy writes, "It is vital for this commonwealth to have two voices speaking for the needs of its citizens and two votes in the Senate."
He's requesting the leaders change the current state law in order to allow for a quicker replacement of his political seat.
Let's hope they do something about that soon and hope that Kennedy is feeling better.

This is a flip flop. When Gov. Mitt Romney held the power, Massachusetts lawmakers adopted the current law so that Romney could not replace Sen. John Kerry when he ran for president in '04. Now that a friendly democrat, Gov. Deval Patrick, is in power, the democrats would like to go back to the way it was. So, no, Perez, this isn't as simple as a burst of civic altruism by the ailing Sen. Kennedy.
This is a partisan measure designed to consolidate democratic power. (Don't get me wrong, I support Ted. But let's put this in its proper context.)
