It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's A Woman In A Burka?!
Get ready world, because we are getting our first Muslim superheroes ever!
The Brits airwaves will introduce the heroes who called themselves the 99, after the ninety-nine attributes of Allah, in a new T.V. series. The story about the Muslim vigilantes, who each possess one of Allah's attributes, is already a smash from Morocco to Indonesia and was "recently named as one of the top 20 trends sweeping the world by Forbes magazine."
Some of the characters include a "burka-clad woman named Batina the Hidden and a Saudi Arabian Hulk-type man named Jabbar the Powerful." If your worried there is going to be 99 heroes to go along with the attributes, don't: "there will never be a full cast of 99 superheroes since it is forbidden to depict all Allah's attributes."
Dr. Naif al-Mutawa, creator of these characters, hopes that they will have universal appeal and that it will " instill Islamic values in children across all faiths." But more-so, he hopes that the crime-fighting heroes provide better role models and images of Muslim culture to Muslim children:
“It hit me that the stories I was hearing were from men who grew up believing that their leader, Saddam, was a hero, a role model — only to one day be tortured by him. I decided the Arab world needed better role models.”
We have our doubts that this will ever make it state-side, not with Middle America still being, well, Middle America.

I am a muslim, a convert muslim at that! I feel I should comment here for all you racists people. A few different comments relating to different subjects Ive read here. For one, saddam hussein has nothing to do with islam, yes i agree to hell with anyone who follows him, but if you search youtube youll see videos of many muslim who dislike him and are happy he is gone.. not all muslim love him, only extremist irak's follow him and then again some dont. Second, burka.. is not necsesary.. in the qu'ran (the holy book) there are many stories where the prophets mention seeing the womans face, her hands, her feet… Only certain countries decide to wear it, because they feel its necesary. three.. do not say that islam is violence, the word islam in arabic mean peace.. and we want peace just as much as you all do. another thing.. dont say that muslims bombes the states.. those were people who follow ossama binladen, you really have to stop classifying all muslims into any terrorism act. Would you go and say all christians are murderes when you hear of all these murders by christians, or jews, or any other religion.. so why are you saying all muslims are like this when it could be said the same around that all christians are murderers. I agree i hope the ones who bombed the states, and the followers of sadam go to hell fire, I also hope anyone who still folows them finds the right path.
pt 2 Go up to a random muslim man or woman you see somewhere, ask them if they think all americans are horrible and should die…cause they wont say that.. many muslims and non muslim arabs are going to live in the states, or here in canada because of the extremists in their countries that are the real terrorists. There are many terrorists and bad people who use Allah to be a reason for them to hurt, and bomb, and do violence, but it doesnt mean they are RIGHT. they are wrong and allah will punish them for it!!! (inshAllah) The reason you may find many muslims who show hatred towards the states is because theyve been brainwashed, and you have to agree the US has made some big mistakes, just as much as any other country has. The only reason you see muslims doing crzy big stuff like suicide bombing, and other sorts. is because they do not fear death we know that if we've done good we will have a place in paradise…AND they think that what they are doing is GOOD so they are not afraid to die..
pt 3 I agree that all the terrorists, should get what they deserve but that is for Allah to choose whats right and wrong and not for you all to put us other muslims down for it. What about the gay's…or the straights.. or the christians, and jews, any one group who shows hatred to another.. are you going to say ALLL straights are homophobic, or that all christians are serial killers or KKK just because a large group of them are… no.. you wont. So please all I ask for you to not classify all of us into this category.. because I am not one of them, if we all wanted hate and violence we would all suicide bomb ourselves thinking that we will go to paradise, but many of us know there are very very few like 1 out of 1000 .. very few good reasons to use violence againste another.. Ive read the qur'an in english and it explains alot on violence.. maybe search on youtube, the videos of muslims who talk about violence in islam.

Another thing, burqua is not opression on women, many women prefer this because it covers the face wich now adays can show alot of beauty wich alot of women feel doesnt do much when trying to be modest. there are arab countries where the woman are forced, or grown into the life of wearing burka.. I wear hijab ( choice by the way..) and yes there are places where the women are treated bad.. but that happens in christianity too, and in any religion.. ever heard of wife beaters? since chris brown beat rihanna, your gonna say all blacks beat theyre girls? no.. so there

and in the qur'an it shows alot of how woman should treat and serve men…but it ALSO shows alot on how men should serve and treat theyre women, for without woman men would be nothing. if the woman is cleaning the house, and taking care of kids, the man has to work and make money and support her and the family. now a days many woman choose to work until they have kids.. but isnt that what all moms do.. they become housewives when the children are younge, and then when they are old enough they send them to daycare and the woman can either have a maid to clean and take care of the house, or she can work a short shift.. but since the man is working and making the money the woman doesnt need work, and if the house needs a higher income, then she will.. and thats how it is these days. I hope my comment maybe inlightened everyone, I dont mind the sadam followers bashing, or the terrorist bashing, but dont bash all muslim.. many arabs came to your country, consider that a compliment after all the messed up things BUSH did and they still came, but hey more come to canada cause we rock

Why would a God ask people to wear pieces of clothes? It's absolutely doesn't make any logical sense. I think muslim women are wearing veil out of a cultural bond, something to do with identification. If you start thinking about true faith, it doesn't make much sense. If God wanted women to hide he wouldn't have made them…err…"beautiful' (which is soooo much a paternalist view of the world, that women are the "beautiful ones"). I think the veil came out from protecting people's faces in the desert, as it existed centuries before islam, and when Islam came in it became a religious motif, like, by total coincidence ! (hey we had invented veils already, let's use it in islam!)
Re: Vexation – The reason god has asked women to cover is because theyre beauty if for their husbands ONLY!! it isnt a cultural thing, many muslims dont wear it, muslim is the religion by the way not the culture. In the qur'an (wich for you would be bible..) it says to wear covering clothes, cover shoulders and breats, and hair.. and legs, basically no skin but whats needed, hands and arms up to elbows, face, and feet. This is because the beauty women have is for their husbands only, and to keep everyone in islam pure we dont want to temp men by showing out beauty. men have rules to.. to cover from knees up to belly button.. the only reason they have less clothing to cover with is because they dont have breasts so what else is theyre really to cover. Wome dont wear it as a cultural thing to distinguish ourself.. they wear it because it is sayd the must, and if a muslim is not ready to do it. she knows in her heart that she will beg for forgivness from god knowing he see's whats in her heart and not on the outside. he looks at our deepest, thoughts.. not what we do on the outside..yes if we do bad on the outside it isnt forgiving all the time, but something like this I believe will be forgving for the woman who are not ready to wear it.

I used to think differently.. but when I met many.. they still like to be sexy, hot, show skin.. just to the right people 
Its not like you take off your clothes for every man everyone.. and yeah I know alot of girls like attention, like to be sexy.. but when it comes down to it, they only care about what the guy they love or are married to thinks.. and thats why I chose i was ready to wear hijab. Yeah I like being sexy, showing my legs.. wtv… but in the end I hate when guys hit on me, and check me out, its grosse.. I do it to show girls im hott to.. and to let my bf see.. ..so this is why women cover. I hope that cleared it up for you.. thank for atleaste not commentine being all racists and crazy…alot of people are but you atleaste voiced your opinion in a nice way

I beleive islam was the first. so your comment doesnt make sence. but for any christians or wtv.. tell me.. why do nuns wear veils? why are they pious and muslims are opressed.. ask them why they wear it, who they take it off infront of.. yes they are much different that they are eternally married to god, but what about jews.. many woman and men have standard clothing.. or some of forms of christianity, orthodox if you go to the church you have to wear a little thing over your head not to cover completly.. and you have to wear long sleeve and long skirts.
There are deeper meaning and not many people explain them now, but they have more meaning than just to distinguish people, and to cover.. they are told do it..wether your god gives you reason good or bad or any reason at all.. if your told to do it you will obey.. so why do we have to give you reason why we do it when you stil will think we're wrong. We do it because we want to and because our god told us it was perscribed to do it…many dont follow properly anyways.. thats why people get such a bad idea of islam because the ones who do wrong potray it as a horrible religion. I think its fine to judge people by culture, people who use theyre culture to make them seem better than others, but do not insult anyone religion cause it has nothing to do with culture, and many muslims choose culture of islam.. in the end…they will be judged accordingly
i live in a place called bradford in england where the amount of muslims nearly out numbers the rest of the city. racism between christians and muslims have caused riots where the city has nearly been burned down. the racism gets worse and there are parts of the town where white people cant go and vise versa. alot of this is because people dont understand or give each other a chance, not all muslims want to blow up people, but now this is usually how they are portraied. with all the hate kids usually pick up there parents views which in cases leads to more hate. there are alot of mixed schools where i live, if the children have something to bond over (a cartoon) and help people be more open minded what is the problem? its beyond me how people can be openly rasict on the internet about things they dont know about or understand. im sure that is how most terrorists started, SPREADING HATE, why are you people any better. i am white and have spoke to a lot of muslim women about the burka/ hajib and some do not wear it and do not want to but some who do, want to wear it and makes them feel better at not being wolf wistled at in the street or oggled at, alot of women wear these through choice. the world would be a better place if people didnt judge people they dont know. everyone wants the world to be better but haters aint doing anything to help
