Leo And Scorsese Get Pushed Back

In a surprising move, this afternoon it was announced that Martin Scorsese's next film, Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCarapio, will be pushed back to a February 2010 release from its original October 2009 date.
There are several possible reasons behind the move, but the most likely are the lack of funds to promote the flick with this year's studio budget or Leo's lack of availability to promote internationally.
It's still a pretty big slap in face. Plus, since the trailer premiered in June, there has been a lot of buzz for the flick, which could fizzle if audiences have to wait too long to see it.
Also, moving the film to February takes it out of Oscar contention.
Hope they are making the right decision!

It looks pretty bad. I am so sick of seeing the trailers. If they feel that it is oscar worthy they would put it in limited release in nyc and la.

I have seen the trailer and I don't think the movie will have a huge audience. It's a scary movie which is outside Sorcese's norm. If you like scary movies, then you will like it, but most scary movies that people watch these days are teen flicks.
Noooooooo! I was looking forward to this film. What's Leo got to do that he can't promote internationally? Bang some hot models? This is distressing to me. And it was not an Oscar kind of movie anyway, Perez. Scorsese doesn't work to get Oscars. He's a lovely Tisch boy. He understands mise-en-scene and being an auteur splendide. The Oscars screwed him over up until The Departed. Everybody nose he deserved it for Taxi Driver.

I know you love your sister, the minion, but really. She makes entirely too many errors to lend credibility to your cause. Given that you've got so little to begin with, it may be time to kick the little birdy to the edge of the nest and hire someone who won't make you look like a bigger fool than we already know you to be.
i'm gonna go ahead and say that if family guy parodies shutter island as "fart island IV" before it really starts to gain steam, it's not gonna win an oscar.

I hate Leonardo whatever the fuck his name is. I don't care if he's a good actor - he probably is. I just can't stand his face.
they get a very limited release in la and nyc so that they could putt themselves in oscar contention and then release it wide in february. Everyone knows that when you release a movie in february, chances of it getting any special recognition is 1%

This Movie just seems like a rip off of one of Paul Walkers movies he did called The Lazarus Project, ha!

That sucks.. there is NO way this movie is going to get Oscar recognition anymore..and it looked like this could be Leo's year with no clear front runner. Why not release in December with the other big movies… what the hell is this studio thinking?
