Sheryl Crow is selling out selling off her musical catalogue!
Rights to her songs were just acquired by the S1 Songs Group. The deal will allow Sheryl to write and produce more music for television and film, as well as put a few much needed bucks in the bank.
$10 million to be exact!
Not a bad pay off for 15 years worth of music. Not GREAT either!
The company now has the rights to her existing portfolio as well as her next upcoming two albums. No word yet as to when one of these upcoming albums will be coming.

Star Exclusive: Melanie Griffith In Rehab!

Melanie Griffith has checked into a rehab facility, her rep confirms to Star.
"She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy. This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago," Melanie’s publicist, Robin Baum, told Star of the actresses stay at Cirque Lodge in Utah.
But an insider tells Star that this stint in rehab is a bid to save her marriage. "She's working with the counselors on getting control of her demons."
The 52-year-old movie star has battled addictions to drugs and booze since she was a teenager and she's had several previous stints in rehab. But her latest fall off the wagon is the last straw for her husband of 13 years, Antonio Banderas.
"The reason Melanie checked in was her husband was demanding that she get clean and sober," another source tells Star. "He told her that if she didn't get the help she needed it would be the end of their marriage."
According to a third source, "Melanie's struggling right now, but Antonio has been checking in on her as much as he is allowed, making sure she gets back on her feet. Without Antonio in her life, I honestly believe Melanie would be dead."

Sheryl Crow is a great musician and songwriter. Truly respected by everybody in the business and always wrote her own music. She never worked with top rated producer to keep up with the "fashion" of the season and revamp her music like most of the other artists did, but stayed true to herself and what she wanted to do.
Now why would we criticize what she wants to do with her music in a time when people are not even willing to pay to buy music but only to buy merchandise and go to big expensive shows?
The industry doesn't make money with records anymore so what u think will happen to artists which are entertainer like Madonna, U2, ga ga. I think it's more than fair.
On top of it she wrote some really really fantastic songs and I'm not talking about C'on C'on….

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. With the way retail music's going, it's like free money from the air for her. Most artists are struggling to make money from anything but touring these days. The industry is reassembling. She will make more $$$ doing t.v. and film. She doesn't want to have to tour forever, and has her child to raise. In another couple of years, you'll post her aging visage up like Madonna's without mentioning Sheryl's songwriting skills.

Sheryl Crow is SO desperate for attention again. I was shocked she was the first person to call CNN and talk about Michael Jackson's death the day he died after she'd been bashing him for such a long time. Total hypocrite and clearly desperately in need of getting back into the spotlight.
The only music from Sheryl I liked was her Wildflower album, which no one else liked. Sometimes I don't understand why these celebrities need millions and millions of dollars. How much money does one need?? I also think she's selling out.
A really stupid move she made. Years ago, greedy David Geffen advised Laura Nyro to sell her publishing rights to Columbia Records (he collected half of the amount) and it was the worst thing she could have done - her back catalogue had all of her hits and she lost out on literally millions of dollars. Sheryl's hit-making days are over and all of her early albums are what she should have held on to. As they always say, 'never sell your publishing rights.' I wonder if she is being advised by Paula Abdul's new manager.

Sheryl hasn't sold out! She still maintains her writer's share of the songs which means she will benefit from everything the buyer does. That goes for the next couple of albums also. Means she can concentrate on the music, let someone else do the hard work.
