We've just learned that Wal-Mart will not be selling Whitney's new album, I Look To You, in their retail locations!
The album, which comes out the first week of September, will only be for sale through Wal-Mart's online store, according to several Whitney fansites.
Coincidentally enough, Miley Cyrus's upcoming EP, The Time Of Our Lives, has a competing release date with Houston's I Look To You, and will be exclusively for sale at Wal-Mart!

I agree with Walmart's decision. Miley Cyrus' EP should definitely be a hit with their audience demography… y'know, the one which consists of a majority of teen mums and redneck hillbillies. After all, if they can shop guilt-free at a store that not only abuses its workers but also owes up to billions in taxes, then they should also lack taste in music stars too.
I'm pretty sure Miley has a clothing line for sale @ walmart for the last month or so. Perhaps this is why her EP is being sold in stores? More of a cash cow to help bump up the clothing line? Get the shirts and CDs in the same store.
They may not be from the same demographic but this was the only other big release that week. It makes sense and its dirty!

Whitney's album is expected to bomb actually. Miley's is expected to go at least double platinum. Do you double up your CD inventory for Miley, or split it up, and hope Whitney's sells and losing Miley sales in the process? Plus, Wal-Mart is going with the fashion line. It's called business sense, but given everything Perez has done aside from this blog, I wouldn't expect him to know that. I don't care about either of them, but it's not exactly shocking a business would make a smart business decision.

YET MILEY AND ALL THE OTHER ARTISTS ARE STILL LISTED. WALMART IS INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO ELIMINATE COMPETITION FOR OPENING WEEK'S STATS. I cannot believe that I am going to say this, but Whitney Houston has so much more class than Miley Cyrus. Competing albums? I don't think so. No one over 14 buys Miley and no one under 18 would consider Whitney. Miley's fan base doesn't have a credit card to order on line, mom will take them to WalMart. Houston's more sophisticated fans shop online. A simple marketing strategy. Houston will go on for ever, Miley will be over so soon. Miley Cyrus? Hell to the no!
