Gerard Butler Goes To The Dogs!

And it was not pleasant!
Gerard Butler was involved in an argument with an elderly Queens couple after their dogs got in a fight near the Long Island City set of his film The Bounty on Monday.
It depends which story you believe, but Fred and Maria Varecka claim that Butler viciously yelled at the couple's greyhound, Mayfly, when his nose touched that of his pug, Lolita. Then, he slammed the greyhound's head against a fence and screamed, "The dog should be put down!"
Uh, we highly doubt that version!
"I said, 'Your dog should be put on a leash.' He kept on going and going, ranting and raving. He was being verbally abusive," claims Maria. "And he smacked the dog in the head. The dog's head went into the fence. I was shaking. The dog yelped. I said, 'Keep your hands off my dog! Why did you hit my dog?' He didn't say a word."
The Varekas' filed a report with the NYPD, but no citations were given.
According to Butler's manager, Alan Siegel: "What happened was, Gerry was walking his dog, Lolita, who is this little, small pug, a teeny thing. You can hold her in one arm, she's that small. Then, suddenly, this greyhound, this huge, menacing dog, bites Lolita."
After Maria and Gerard had a few words, Mayfly took another bite out of Lolita!
Butler spent the next four hours at an Upper East Side animal hospital and even gave $3,000 to another family he just met to cover their vet bills.
So sweet! We hope that's true!
Proof of a the lil' pug's injuries should clear this dispute right up!
Get well, Lolita!

…blech. God knows where that tongue was before he licked her face. Grab the antiseptic hon!
Ugh… HE should be put on a leash after posing for that picture Woof Lick and slurp!
ooh this makes me mad. I have a greyhound and if anyone ever touched my dog I would fucking destroy them!! but this I am confused about…why wasn't the greyhound on leash. as sight hounds they should either be on leash or in a fenced in area. not loose on the street. fuck this guy and his fucking pug.
but I hope that his little pug is okay if indeed it was bitten by the greyhound. I like all dogs…really. I do.
Mayfly's owners should have went to the vet to pay for the pugs bills. Obviously the pug didnt hurt himself. I have 3 pit bulls and I am always a responsbile dog owner.
He's such a cute guy… but damn his behaviour is making him un-likeable!!! I would still do him, don't get me wrong… (and aww I love Pugs)
i own a greyhound too!!! and noone better lay a finger on my BUBBY!!! However as any responsible hound owner knows…they are not all SMALL DOG friendly and can tend to go after them little dust mops!!! I hope the little guy is ok!!!
ANYWAYS Gerard Buthole… Greyhounds are the most timid dogs in the world… To call one large and menacing is a joke. It's like calling a little old lady large and menacing. I hope to hell he doesn't turn into another Russel Crowe, but it's sounding like it the more and more we get to know this douche.
Good, I hate little dogs.
BS on Butler's story. If your OFF THE LEASH dog (which is against the law in NY) gets bit and the dogs separate, arent you going to PICK UP THE DOG? He never does, he allows the dog to get bit a second time? walk away, then come back with the dog still off the leash and get bit a 3rd time? He would have picked up the dog.
This is a cheap stunt to promote his next flop.
…and unless his dog was INSIDE The mouth of the Greyhound, him hitting the dog is also against the law, regardless of the other dog tasting his. Where is PETA?
Re: mobius lion –
It was Butler's dog not on a leash. The Greyhound was leashed the whole time.
Good on ya, Gerry! If that MUCH larger dog did bite his little Lolita, they're lucky he didn't KILL it. Sorry folks, but if I were in his position and that happened to my little dog, I'd do the same thing, if not WORSE. Keep your animals leashed, people!
Re: Bman08 – yes the menacing thing bothered me too cuz really I have never met a "menacing" greyhound and I have known A LOT. prey driven yes though and some are not good with small dogs. Mine is fine but I would not have my dog running with a tiny dog because I don't think it would be safe. so who knows maybe the greyhound's owners are at fault. but menacing…give me a fucking break!
That sounds really bad…why didn't these people have their Greyhound on a leash? Sounds like they have no control over their dog!
Re: slite – ah I see..somehow missed that detail. and please please please do not get peta involved. peta is not truly and animal lovers friend. they really are not.
Re: jones19 – The greyhound WAS on a leash. Butler's dog was off the leash.
icky icky poo poo. Never liked that double-chinned bastard. Not a very good actor either.
Team Butler
Everyone knows Butler is a hot-headed, mean, angry guy (read up on your Butler history, he loves to tell his I'm all that and then some stories on tv talk shows.. especially the ones where he was engaged in a fight). He often blames Scotland because he says it's one of the most violent countries there is). He never puts Lolita on a leash because he's an ass and is always violating rules. He punched that greyhound the same way he boasts about punching the razzi photog a short while ago. He's done jail time for his temper. If he did cough up money to pay for another animal at the vet it's because he knew he had to put a positive spin on this fiasco some how. He is, and always will be, an asshole.
Yes, Gerard has a temper, true, but if anyone's animal should threaten my pet, I would react in the same manner. Lolita is tiny, adorable, and Gerard's baby and don't get Daddy pissed!!! Go Gerard, love you.
This is the dude from 300, right? Well anyways, who cares! He's FIONE!
i don't know which is true, but i would like to think gerad didn't grab the other dog. he seems like a sweet guy, BUT he is an actor, and they can be deceiving. So…
I just lost respect King Leonides aka Gerald Butler aka King Douche Bag. Shame on him for being verbally abusive to an elderly couple. How dare he shove their dogs head into the fence! Someone of his status should handle them self in a respectable manner! Its one thing to yell at the owners, its just plain criminal to physical assault an animal!
Gerald's people are making it seem like his pug is this poor , innocent, and helpless dog. Pugs are little, wiry, and noisy little shits that " want to be starting something" but when confronted, runs away. So if anything Gerry got all 300 on that poor greyhounds head for no reason. WHo knows?!
Can someone PUHLEASE inform his PR people that Greyhounds aren't " menacing " dogs. They are quit timid and very friendly.
dogs should kept on a leash. that's it.
There's definitely some missing details here
A greyhound menacing? I'm sure Gerry Butlers breath is more so…
haha yeah Bman08- my thoughts exactly. greyhounds are not the least bit "menacing".
here's a good rule of thumb: if you have a dog, fucking keep it on a leash when you are in public.
don't get me wrong, i love love love dogs (and i have one and he is my spoiled little baby)- but some people are scared of them, and dogs can be unpredictable, and it's your responsibility as a pet owner to keep your fucking dog on a fucking leash when you're in public. it's best for all parties involved.
that said, if someone hit my dog's head into a fence i would not hesitate to attack them. if butler was trying to keep the greyhound from biting his pug, that's one thing- sometimes things get out of hand in the heat of passion. but answer me this: if his pug is so small, why the hell didn't he just pick the pug up and walk away? my dog is 50lbs of stubborn and if something went down, i (a 5'4 girl) would just pick him up and go far away from the trouble.
Dogs have their own non-verbal language and hierarchy. It's not as either owner knows what they're going to do. If you introduce them and they get snarly, you separate them, and try not to escalate to continuing the scrap the dogs started out of instinct. Did Gerard act out a big scene from Virginia Woolf at the other owners? That would be scary. On the other hand, if you can't recognize signs of aggression from your own dog, then don't allow it to approach another dog. The other approached dog could even then display aggression and then trigger it in your dog. What we have here is a they said/he said.
As far as I know, Greyhounds are sentimental creatures..but not all dogs are the same. I really doubt Butler would've smacked the greyhound just because it touched his pug's nose. I'm sure the dogs got into an altercation because the greyhound wasn't leashed and whatever happened, happened. Those old people should've had it on a leash to begin with.
And Butler paying vet bills to other people? That is super awesome. I worked at a vet clinic so I know how hard it is for pet owners not to be able to afford doing the necessary procedures for their beloved pet.
there's residue of my dick in his mouth on his tounge. just wanted to share that with the world.
I fucking hate GREYHOUNDS…. and owners of such dogs should use a fucking leash… they are vicious… fuck gryhounds!!!
TEAM PUG.
Re: xUltra – the greyhound was ON the leash, the Pug was never on a leash. Perez Hilton's sister doesnt understand to cut and paste the entire article she is stealing, not just the pieces that she wants.
Greyhounds are trained to chase and catch little tiny bundles of fur at the tracks, especially rescues! I wasn't there and I can't say for sure what happened, but if Lolita had injuries, it adds to Gerard's credibility.
Re: xUltra – it has been said it several time already that the greyhound was leashed and the pug was off leash. not sure what a sentimental dog is like. just so you know.
Re: slite – I totally agree with you on babs hilton not cutting and pasting the whole article..I read it somewhere else with more details.
Butler seems to have an explosive temper. I thought I read he exploded on someone a few months ago.
I've never met a mean pug and any greyhound I've met has been super docile and laidback; however one must take into consideration whether an animal has been properly socialized and whether a breed is naturally dog aggressive or predatory towards other animals, example: Pit bulls and Alaskan Malamutes are extremely predatory towards cats. Pit bulls are naturally dog aggressive; some are less dog aggressive only due to proper socialization. It's possible Gerry had his dog off leash due to her small size making it seem like it wasn't necessary. Leash laws are not only for the protection of people but for dogs as well.
awww i love pugs, and other dogs tend to HATE them! so the greyhound could have randomly attacked pug
Re: mobius lion – i would do the same as he did if anything dared to touch my animals. pugs arent fighters and wouldnt be able to defend itself… the greyhound shoudve been fenced in. go gerry!!
GRR greyhounds aren't a "menacing dog" ours lives happily with our cat and miniature pinscher! GERARD BUTLER was in the wrong for not having his dog on a leash, he should not have hit the greyhound GRR I hope the greyhound owners press charges
People are protective of their animals. In North America dogs are not trained properly. If you were in Europe, no one touches someones dog without permission from the owner…you simply DO NOT pet dogs in Europe that are not your own. When dogs are off their leashs they are smart enough to know what is considered okay and will rarely bite or nip at people or other animals. I can see why Gerard would be upset, I would too if a large dog charged at my small pug. Without the full story no one knows…it's all hear-say. I just hope these dogs are okay and have loving owners.
Since when are greyhounds huge and menacing??? I know if anyone touched my Rottie or my mutt they'd be dead. But I usually don't have any problems with people coming near me with my Rottie even though he is the biggest baby in the world.
Huge and Menacing-a greyhound?? Please!! I hope the A.S.P.C.A gets involved and bitch slaps Butler into next year!!
No proof of the pug's 'injuries', so guess we know who the liar is.
I don't even know who this clown is.
