Why? It's just a question - no different than when people ask about natural hair colors, birthmarks, or deformities. She is from New Zealand. Americans tend to focus much more on the appearence of our teeth than people from around there. My Aussie friends used to make fun of American's for "Tortouring our children with braces", but the funny thing was, the first thing they would say when they meet you is "You have a beautiful Smile.

So many celebs with distinctive features "get them fixed" and then look absolutely boring. (re: ashley tisdale, ashlee simpson, heidi montag) They end up looking completely generic even though technically their "flaws" are "fixed"

I had a pretty friend with a gap and everyone was split on whether she should fix it. Some like me thought it was youthful and cute (mostly the women) and some thought it was trashy (mostly the men). Well, she fixed it and she looked much better.

i have a gap in my teeth and people also ask me "Why don't you get that fixed?" It's EXTREMELY rude. My gap does not bother me. I hate that people look at it is if it's some kind of deformity! It's not! It's not that big of a deal. If it doen't bother HER, then she should keep her gap! People are so shallow this days! I say it's THEIR problem if it bothers them!

I also have a gap and I don't think anyone has ever asked me this question…but then again I am not an actress so my looks are not one of my career necessities. I like my gap though and have no interest in "fixing" it nor has a dentist, family anyone for that matter ever suggested I NEED to do anything about it.

i had a huge gap between my two front teeth and i got it fixed. best decision i made in my life. before i got braces, i never smiled with me mouth open or laughed because people always focused on my teeth. now, people always comment on how i am always smiling. so personally, i would not find this question rude.

I love when stars leave things like that natural. The slightest imperfection in teeth now-a-days seems so out of place to us, because everyone gets their teeth straightened and whitened.
