An American legend, Ted Kennedy, passed away late Tuesday night.

The longtime Senator from Massachusetts and member of the most iconic family in American politics had been bravely battling brain cancer for some time.

Kennedy died at his home in Hyannis Port, Mass.

He was 77 years old.

Making the situation even more tragic, Teddy's beloved sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, passed away last week.

The Kennedy family issued the following statement about the politico's passing:

“Edward M. Kennedy – the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply – died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port. We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it’s hard to imagine any of them without him.”

Our deepest deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the Kennedy family. May strength find them and firm them up during what may only be described as an extremely painful time.

So sad.

RIP I guess but Ted Kennedy was a dirtbag who left his mistress to die while he cowardly hid behind the Kennedy name to escape punishment. Now that he's dead he will be put on a pedestal and praised. Mario, if it was anyone else you'd be calling him scum. I think as little of him now as I did then, he won't be missed.

    3. 103

This guy got away with murder!! Why has the media ignored this for years? Just because he is a politician, in a family worth millions, Mr. Kennedy evaded murder charges! Maybe now that he's dead, Mary Joe's family will get some respite…….other than that, I think he made admirable attempts at improving life. Anybody else?

    4. 104

This is for chappaquidik fuckface. You were an asshole your whole life and you ruined other peoples lives for no other reason then you could get a way with it. FUCK YOU TED!

    5. 105

RIP. He has always been an inspiration to me and was an advocate for so many.

    6. 106

      one less democrap…….

    7. 107

      Let's see:

      1) A child molester and drug abuser that has been the butt of every black/music joke for years dies and he's a saint.

      2) An alcoholic murdering politician who has only voted in his own self-interest and nearly never crossed political lines thereby perpetuating partisanship dies and he's the greatest statesman ever (well 2nd behind Barack).

I've never been so proud to be American.

    8. 108

good now he can say hello to mary jo kopekne

Re: slite – You could not be more wrong.

The sole uplifiting thing about Ted's passing is the days of "reaching across the asile" are GONE. Truth be know, the republicans have a lot more to mourn than democrats.

    22. 122

I'm sorry but what tragedy are we talking about? Eunice and Ted were OLD. Old people die. It's not a tragedy; it's part of life. I can't help but think of Mary Jo and what a tragedy that was and how much of a scum bag Ted was for what he did to her - and how the hell Massachusetts kept voting him in office even when that happened.

Ted Kennedy- a murderer, a rapist, a drunk and an adulterer. Stop making him out to be a saint. He was as corrupt as they come. Good riddance.

    35. 135

lets set the record strait… Mary Jo's death was an accident. Nobody drives off a bridge on purpose. No one was there but the two of them and he said that he tried to save her. We really have no reason to believe he didnt. Everyone today always wants to believe the worst in people. He was a man who fought for what he believed in and no one can condemn him for that.

    36. 136

      didnt he kill somebody??

well what wait for ted at the end of the light. my guess its Mary-jo and St. peter. Its judgement day for ted. not only was he a murderer, raper but sold his soul to get obama elected. That alone will get him into HELL. Isnt that where murderers and rapist usually go.

    41. 141

How was he a legend? I rarely even hear anything about him.

    42. 142

I'm so sick of all of you wah wah poor Mary Jo folks. Most of you don't even have a fucking clue about it anyhow. The time was the early 60's. Mary Jo and the girls she was hanging with were perfectly happy to be one of the "Boiler Room Girls" be in the company of greatness (their thoughts at the time, not mine) and have a few drinks and be a special friend to married men who had power. She was almost assuredly on her way to fuck Teddy when the accident happened. He had no morals and neither did she. They were drunk. By the way, check your facts about her being pregnant. Her parents filed an exclusion preventing autopsy, so if she was preggers no one but she the possible baby daddy and God knew it. Ted Kennedy was no saint that's for sure but don't glorify Mary Jo Koepechne because she was no saint either. My guess is she's kept a seat warm for him all these years. Most of you have no idea so shut the fuck up.

    43. 143

I wonder how Mary Jo Kopechne's family feels about this. You know, the girl he killed when his car crashed on Chappaquiddick Island.

    44. 144

Re: U_SUCK_DONKEY_DICKS – I couldn't agree more. I do think the later generations tried to better themselves though.

It's sadly ironic that the biggest champion for Healthcare reform will not be on the Senate floor to cast his vote in favor. Let's all hope Congress passes a legitimate Healthcare Bill in Uncle Teddy's honor. RIP Senator Kennedy.

    58. 158

Now he can rot in hell, and pay for what he did to Mary Jo.

    59. 159

We are going to hear nonstop tribute to the glories of the Kennedy Family for the next several weeks. If you thought the fuss made over Michael Jackson was outrageous, ill-deserved, and myopic in its deliberate ignoring of the seedier side of Jackson’s life, then you are in for a real treat with the MSM’s treatment of Ted Kennedy. They will lionize him as, literally, “The Great Lion of the Senate”. They will remind us how much the Kennedy Family believes it is America’s royal family. We can already hear the chisels and hammers being sharpened to build a pyramid or collonade somewhere in Ted Kennedy’s honor. hillbuzz.org

    60. 160

A wealthy murderer is no more today. A man who snuffed out a young life, but because of who he was, who his brothers were, and who his family is he never had to face consequences for that. The voters of Massachusetts kept re-electing this man, never removing him from the power he coveted so much to punish him in that way, either. Ted Kennedy avoided owning up to what happened that night and never gave the Kopechne family the peace of mind they deserved by being a man and taking responsibility for what he had done…for serving his time in prison for Mary Jo’s death, and then becoming a productive and better citizen after his release. If Ted Kennedy had done THAT, we would be eulogizing him today like nobody’s business.

    61. 161

      But, he didn’t.

Instead, Ted Kennedy chose to remain the wealthy, corpulent spider, pulling on the silky strings of power, always moving legistlation and tax dollars to whatever would help his family most, with everyone else in Massachusetts and the rest of the nation mere after thoughts. Even when he was too incapacitated several months ago and was clearly unable to do his job, he refused to let go, refused to do what was right, refused to step down so Massachusetts could have an actual Senator working for them.

    62. 162

Ted Kennedy was a selfish man. He was an indecent and sick man. He was a lying, murdering, consciousless man.

      He was a spider.

      And he is dead today.

      hillbuzz.org

    63. 163

so sad..but lets not forget Mary Jo Kopechne.

    64. 164

“Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.”

    65. 165

When Jackie O died, it was stated that she had written many letters talking about the Kennedy scandals, JFK, RFK etc. They are to be published 20 years after her death (she died in 1994) or unless the first Kennedy generation dies. If my memory serves me correctly, all who is left is Ethel Kennedy (Bobby's wife). this would be a very interesting read.
I agree, the Kennedy's were cursed… Father Joe was a scum bag.

    66. 166

This was a piece of shit of a person, a drunk a killer and who knows what else. This scum should have died years ago

    74. 174

Re: CRABBY APPLETON – I agree with you re Ted being a great public servant.
      -
I differ from you in that, as far as I'm concerned, reaching across the aisle ended with Ted. He was a great man, however younger democrats are not concerned about what republicans think.

We out-number them, we don't need their vote - to hell with them.

    75. 175

One more - I do think its so typical republican for them to forget that McCain - whom less than a year ago they supported for President - killed 134 people on the USS Forrester when he intentionally - and AGAINST ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS - wet started his jet to get even with another pilot - causing the bombs to fall off the plane - this - because of McCain - is how the fire started.
      -
134 dead because of McCain. 134 dead.
      -
Now, what were the republicans saying about Ted? McCain should have been tried for mass murder.

      -
Tell me - do you think your boy - John McCain - is not privileged? Huh? What's that you say?
      -
And let's see, why again did Dick-head Cheney refuse to meet with the police for 10 hours after he shot that man? Waiting for the booze to wear of, Dick?

does anyone recall the fact that HE KILLED HIS MISTRESS?

    79. 179

Re: CittyKat – Speaking of entitled - let's discuss Cindy McCain. Admitted drug addict, admitted stealing drugs, admitted to false prescriptons written to obtain drugs.
      -
Now, this went on across state lines, so its a federal crime. Why was Cindy never prosecuted?
      -
Republican's 2008 choice for president of the US - McCain - killed 134 people.
      -

Wife Cindy - drug addict, stole from her own charity - never prosecuted.
      -
I'd be a little more careful in the future with throwing stones, seeing how criminal your recent choices have been.

Re: LULU~* – John McCain did NOT start the fire on the USS Forrestal. His Plane an A-4 was struck by a rocket from a F4 Phantom. That rocket hit his fuel tank and blew his plane up while it was in line to take off.Wounded,he tried to pull a fellow pilot out of a burning plane. And if that was not enough,he helped roll unexploded bombs off the flight deck.
Where in the world did you get your info that he caused the fire? From the :"the Daly Kos"?You might hate him or his politics but lay off his military service.Besides, why drag McCain into this?He was friends with Kennedy!

    81. 181

Re: RedWingsFan – 180 Just to say, it is pretty well documented. McCain was a hotdoger, wet started his engine which caused the chain reaction. They happened to be filming at the time and you see him run from his plane. He was immediately whisked away by his father for protection.
Look it up. You can see the film for yourself. It is shown at naval academies as what not to do.
I think Lulu brought it up as an example of great men moving on from mistakes of their youth. In both cases, tragic ones.

    82. 182

Re: LULU~* – LULU you dumb bitch, don't talk to me about "my recent choices" as you know nothing about me. I am Canadian and as such I don't make any choices regarding American politics…mkay?
      *
I CAN'T STAND THE KENNEDYS. THEY ARE SCUM. THEY ARE RAPISTS, MURDERERS, ENTITLED PIGS. They are also Nazi lovers and adulterers but that's not illegal..still gross though.
      *
The Kennedys are horrible people and I do not mourn their passing. Any of them. Are you seriously defending murderous Ted Kennedy by commenting on someone else's crimes? What a straw-man argument. Other peoples' criminal acts do not exonerate Ted Kennedy, you dumb bitch.

    83. 183

Re: SWEETPIECE! – Yea,I saw the film.I also saw a documentary on the history channel and I read a book on it.The whole McCain hot dogged "Wet Start engine" thing is complete non sense. The F4 that malfunctioned and and shot a missle at McCains plane was parked on the side of the deck.As far as him running away. His flight suit was on fire-I'd run too if I was on fire. And being the coward that he was he was reassigned to another battle group and was latter shot down and spent the next 5 years as a pow at the posh Hanoi Hilton. As someone who served in the Army myself it sickens me to see people take cheap shots at vets regardsless of their politics!

      Re: Gerald Tarrant

So if your child was molested by somebody you'd take money instead of putting the freak in jail? Really? The father of Jordan Chandler asked MJ for 20 million so that he could work on a film. Strange? I think so. Also, don't you find it slightly strange that Jordan Chandler claimed his father abused him? And Gavin Arviso, did you know his mother claimed to be sexually abused by security guards at Macy's after her sons were caught stealing? Also, the Arvizos tried scamming Jay Leno and Chris Tucker using Gavin's cancer as an excuse. Quite frankly, I think all those facts just don't add up. Also think about this, if you were Michael Jackson, this guy millions of people worship, wouldn't drugs seem like the only way?
