Madonna's fans tend to kiss the ground the beloved singer walks on, but apparently, they don't see eye-to-eye on everything.
A crowd of 60,000 people in Bucharest, Romania, began to boo Madge last night when she spoke out against discrimination against Gypsies in eastern Europe. She explained that no one should be discriminated against and that it made her "sad" that Gypsies, also known as Roma, face this kind of plight.
That's when thousands of Romanian fans, who did not agree, loudly booed the pop star. She didn't react.
One day, free thinking people like our Madge will say things like that and it will be received warmly and with enthusiasm. We hope to see that day come sooner rather than later.

let me tell you perez. Gypsies are discriminated in romania for a reason. They send their children out to beg for money they steal and rob people on the busses and on the streets. they cheat you if you buy from them. They arrange marry their children as young as 10yrs old. My mother is from the city that is the Capital to the rroma. My aunt is a teacher there and she told us how she faught to have some of the gipsy kids that were good students to be left in school. But their parents pull them from school after they have learnt how to read and add so that they may join the fam "business". Anyway there is so much more.
I cannot speak for the rest of Europe but when it comes to my country Madonna and you are both wrong on this subject matter and i am sure that she has lost a lot of respect and a lot of fans in romania as well as other Eastern European countries for that statement!

Ummm,..I AM Romanian,..and having lived there most my life, I can safely say that Gypsies ARE bad people. They are criminals. Soory folks,..but most of you do not know what you are talking about. They do not work, they only steal. They commit haneous crimes. They kidnapp children, amputate their limbs and force them to beg on the streets, without limbs they get more sympathy from people giving them money. These children are starved and abused and the money they make (by begging) goes to their gypsi masters. They murder people and rob them. They even sell their own children. This is a fact. They are a real problem in europe. Unless you have lived with them as I have, please do not defent them. I have lost loved ones at the hands of gyopsies. they are a hole other kind of bad,..the kind, most western countries could not even begin to phantom.

I'm from the Netherlands and a study just came out that shows 95% of the Roma living in one of our cities, have criminal records. They are not stimulated by their parents to learn reading and writing but they do learn stealing from the age of twelve. Girls younger than fifteen are forced to marry. They don't deserve discrimination but they do need to be educated.

They booed for a reason. I'm not saying it's like this everywhere, but in my birth country they are the number one thieves and liars. They're usually in groups and God help you if you happen to walk by some.

Personally I see nothing wrong with the Roma… they are that way because of decades and decades of discrimination in addition to poor education. They do what they have to, to survive, and I think all of us would do the same if we had to.
If you've never lived there how would you know why these people are discriminated against? They have a very long history of vile crimes and it would take a long time to amend those and make people change their minds. Yes discrimination is bad but they are judged because of all the horrible things they do - especially to their own children!
