DJ A.M. Dies Of Apparent Drug Overdose

DJ A.M. has passed away, PerezHilton.com has confirmed.
Born Adam Goldstein, he formerly was engaged to Nicole Richie and miraculously escaped a plane crash last year.
His body was discovered by the New York Police Department at his apartment in NYC on Friday.
No further details are known at this time.
He was 36 years old.
Update: The New York Post is reporting that drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.
So sad!!!!
The DJ had seemingly overcome his addiction to drugs and was even recently working on an MTV show to help young people get sober.
We truly are so incredibly sad right now. Adam was a friend and even spun at our birthday party two years ago.
The only thing we can think of is that his traumatic plane crash scarred him worse than anyone knew.
So sad.
Update #2: On August 25th, in what would now be his last public communication, DJ AM wrote on his Twitter, "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems." It was a line from a Grandmaster Flash song.
Chilling!
Update #3: According to NBC New York, "DJ AM had not been heard from for a few days, and one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door, law-enforcement sources said. The friend then called the police, who broke into the apartment and found the DJ's body."
Update #4: Click here to read DJ AM's last known interview, posted on Wednesday of this week.
Update #5: According to reports, AM had been battling with depression lately. "DJ AM thought the depression was a result of trying to stop taking pain medication since his tragic plane accident."
Update #6: Prescription pill bottles and a pipe commonly used to smoke drugs (a crack pipe) were found at DJ AM's apartment, according to reports. He was wearing sweatpants and no shirt and was pronounced dead on the scene when paramedics arrived.

Dying… so hot right now.
Gosh I am so saddened to hear this.. Rest In Peace!
I can't believe it. It was on my birthday last year that the plane crash happened. And just a few months ago, I walked past him on a hiking trail in Hollywood. I can't imagine the emotions he had to deal with after the crash. I just hope he is now at peace.

Hello All -
Normally I don't feel like I NEED to make a statement like this, but after I read some recently reported untruths I feel like I have to. I want to take a second to address the hurtful posts and clear up any misunderstandings any of you may have about my law suit. I would NEVER sue the deceased pilots' estates or personal holdings. I am more than grateful that I survived this horrible accident and I'd never try to take anything from those that didn't. Despite the misinterpretations of the lawsuit, this suit is against the insurance companies that insured the pilots. I'm not after Sarah's or James' personal estates nor their property. Everyone involved in this suit has suffered a great deal, and I would not do anything to make matters worse for the deceased family and friends. Daily I live with the guilt and grief of what happened that night, what I saw, who was lost and why I was spared. I have no words to express the pain that comes with knowing four people died, while I lived.
Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P
wtf omg
Yet another random freaky frickin death and horrible waste! The year of DEATH! This year is proving Darwin's theory that only the really strong are surving, and the weak and weakened are perishing. Hold on people…
Re: Jesusismysavior – Oh just FUCK OFF!!! Nobody asked for your Jesus BULLSHIT! Do us a favor and shove it up where the sun don't shine!!!
BFD. Talentless dick.
Addiction, Kills way to many, Thanks Parez for ring this to us….RIP Adam!
Rest in peace, Adam.. So, so sad.
Since when is a DJ considered a celebrity? He didn't make any contributions to the world so who cares?
He miraculously survives a plane crash and then overdoses on crack. What a dumbass.
