Travis Barker Opens Up About The Loss of A.M.
Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker was more than just a friend to DJ A.M., who passed away Friday of a suspected drug overdose.
The two were also musical collaborators and both survived that deadly airplane crash that killed four people last year.
On Saturday, Barker opened up for the first time about the loss of A.M.
He says:
"Don't know how i am gonna play 2night but i am for AM. My brother is gone.i love u and miss u, i'll never forget all the good times we had.
I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time i play the drums i'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being.
Rest In Peace my brother, this really fucks me up.
Such a huge loss.
Adam was truly one of those people that NO ONE had anything bad to say about.

Re: LilJoJo – Oh for the love of Perez! Your body does NOT shut down and die from pain due to burns. Your body will die from electrolyte imbalances caused by third space shifting and hypothermia caused by burns…not from the pain. Lemme guess….not a nurse???
Drugs ain't the way to go…that i agree, but maybe the plane crash took its toll on him more than we realised.
Re: ifyouseekkatie – No, but I have family members who have worked in one of the top burn units in the country…as doctors. And I know several burn victims. There is a reason they put them into a chemically induced coma.

Besides, in no way was DJ AM still a 'burn victim patient.' He was an addict. He chose to smoke crack, it seems. So, again, he did this to himself. And not only himself, but his family.

when in the public eye, people are going to make comments, whether rude or not. anyways, life is perezious (i mean precious), you would think after surviving a plane crash these two would cherish life more. travis barker should stop making a mockery of his problems with the mother of his children it is just immature and childish. its too bad about DJ AM but people should take into consideration that it was probably tough for him…
Re: LilJoJo – Negative! Wrong again. Chemically induced coma secondary to them being intubated and on a vent to protect their airway. Every day we "surface" the pts from dirprivan (hi mj!) to check their orientation…like see if they will follow simple commands and such, and then once we have established their sensorium we crank the diprivan back up and put them back to sleep. People that are awake and intubated "buck the vent"… therefor we induce them into a paralytic amnesiac sleep. Hey girl, aint saying it isnt painful, I hear ya, but you just don't die from pain.

Some people think and act like they can die of pain but as ER nurses we know these are the patients that we generally make wait in the waiting room for hours upon hours just to prove them wrong! lmao! Yeah, so don't ever act a fool in the ER…nurses have all the power! DJ was a burn victim at this point….no longer a burn patient. God rest his soul and all but his mental status killed him rather than his burns.
you know what. his death really freakkin saddens me but it also makes me kinda mad. if there are 6 people on a plane… ok? stay with me here… and everyone dies except the 2 most talented people… then WHY, WHY THE FUCKK WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE YOU, WOULD YOU GO AND SMOKE SOME CRACK!? dj am… i loved you man, and i am so sad over this… REST IN PEACE. Re: 29 – You must be the most stupidest person out there. Do you have any education at all? Drug addiction IS an ADDICTION, it's not an excuse. Smoking is an addiction, drinking heavily is an addiction. WHY do you think it is so hard to kick these habits because you are addicted..
Lets see DJ AM couldn't handle food. He couldn't handle drugs. He couldn't handle surviving a plane crash. He couldn't handle a teenybopper break up. Uh, okay…Seriously? Was there ANYTHING he could handle? Nope. Guess not.

I'm not a big Blink 182 fan, but I think Travis is an awesome dad so I hate to see him suffer.
I just have a hard time empathizing with someone that was given a second chance at life and then goes and throws it all away; the 4 people who succumbed in that crash, they and their families, would've probably loved to have had the same second chance that Travis and DJ AM were given. Now his friends and family have a big hole that can never be filled. I feel bad for the loved ones left behind more than anything.
