DJ AM's former girlfriend and close friend Mandy Moore has released a statement about AM's untimely passing.
Says Mandy:
I am absolutely heartbroken. For those of us lucky enough to have known him, Adam radiated a contagious exuberance for life and also personified the very definition of a true friend. To say that he will be missed beyond words is an understatement. My heart goes out to his loved ones

She probably feels a bit of guilt and is ashamed she maybe wasn't in his life as much as she was before. Girlfriend or not… you'll always feel quilty that you didn't stay in their lives if it ended amicably.

He had an OD because his girlfriend broke up with him and he was really depressed. He wasn't taking drugs before. Mandy Moore is really, truly heartbroken because he was a good friend of hers, it has nothing to do with the press. Every single damn post you guys made shows alot of ignorance and immaturity. So if you didn't know him or like him STFU! Dj AM did have fans that did adore him. He had a lot of friends in the business, and they are heart broken. Let people make condolences without having to weed through the rude, inconsiderate, and heartless remarks. From what I gather He was sober for about 9 years until the last year since the crash. He also was very supportive to other addicts, and sponsored many. He went through a horrible amount of physical, and mental trauma in that crash. He had post traumatic stress disorder, and probably survivors guilt. It's enough to test even the best person, and he was only human. Addiction is a life long battle it NEVER ends. It was a stupid thing he did, and I'm sure wherever he is he knows it. I wish nothing but love to his family and friends. I hope there is some peace in knowing he is no longer in pain.
