Did Anyone Even Watch The Daytime Emmys?

The Daytime Emmys have never pulled a huge audience, and Sunday night was no exception!

Only 2.68 million people tuned into the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Ceremony on The CW - with a 0.6/2 rating/share, and the pre-show red carpet parade drew a dismal 1.21 million viewers to the network.

AKA total suckage!

Better luck next year!

The ones who watched the daytime emmys are the ones who are home during the day to watch that shit. Most people have J-O-B-S.

  2. 2

and the emmy for craziest talk show host/biggest ego goes to….

  3. 3

    No one watched the Emmys
    because no one
    watches the CW.
    The Emmys may
    have gotten a bigger
    share if it aired on
    local cable.

  4. 4

    the what? ha.

  5. 5

why would anyone sit through those boring award shows when you can just get a list of the winners online??

  6. 6

Who watches the CW? If they want ratings have it on a major network!!

  7. 7

Im sooo bummed I missed it! I had no clue it was on did they even announce it?

  8. 8

I'm not interested in daytime TV, but will watch some of the nighttime Emmy show hoping to see wins for Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and 30 Rock.

  9. 9

I watched! I loved it. It was a shame GL tribute was cut so short, and Brad Bell couldn't make his speech. Hey Perez, enough with Tyra the joke, talk about the soaps! Everyone know they are the draw to the Daytime Emmys, not Tyra and Ellen. How about Vanessa Williams and that opening number!

  10. 10

Overall, I thought they needed major advertisement. They were kept like a secret from the media.

  11. 11

    wow, there's a daytime emmys??
never knew. maybe because i was busy actually doing things. like, you know, WORKING.

  12. 12

Perez is just jealous he wasn't invited. R.I.P. Guiding Light, How you will be missed.

  13. 13

I'm so saddened by GL too Tulip. I think the show could have added a +1.0 if they just over advertised and made it look like a huge event.

  14. 14

i didn't even know it was on

  15. 15

I blieve that an award implies some kind of quality. Daytime just doesn't have any. It's just Jerry Springer type degenerates, big fat Ol' Oprah and skanky mummified Baba.

  16. 16

I never saw it advertised…..oh that's because it was on the CW and there is nothing worth watching on that channel.

  17. 17

She won for having the largest Forehead!!

  18. 18

Who's watching daytime emmy ever? So why it's any different from any other years?

  19. 19

Yeah working on a Sunday night? Sucks for you. Anyway, it wasn't promoted and I had a hard time finding the CW. Hopefully CBS even takes it next year. That was my first guess.. but sadly, even CBS didn't want it. Oh well… I still love you Days of our Lives even though the show didn't win!

  20. 20

    i was there!

  21. 21

Grant: Did you feel the GL tribute was too short? I thought it was, although how can you fit 70+ years in to a 5 minute tribute? This years awards seemed kinda biased although I'm glad Christian (Michael Y&R) and Jeff (Shayne GL) won, it seemed the rest were just phone ins.

  22. 22

    Re: Grantofhollywood

I didn't see your previous post, sorry. Yeah GL got screwed big time. It's very rarely I find someone on here who feels like i do about GL. It's a very nice welcome :) I actually started a STGL website when I first heard it would be axed. If you would like to talk further please let me know and we will find a way to chat outside of here.

  23. 23

Yea sure Tulip. I love soaps, im a daytime superfan lol find me on DaytimeConfidential.com i'm DaytimeFan0001

  24. 24

    Sounds lamee

  25. 25

I would have watched if I had known they were on. I didn't hear a single peep about the awards until AFTER the show. If they had actually advertised, they would have had better ratings.

  26. 26

Re: Grantofhollywood – Will do! I go on there too :D I will send you a message!

    27

1- Most people don't subscribe to CW because it's lame
2- No advertising for the daytime emmys so no one even knew they were coming
3- Not all people that enjoy daytime television are unemployed losers, it's called technology and PVR…

Once again…. this is a gossip site with no gossip just random lameness… Sigh….

  28. 28

um. wgas. stupid self gratifying awards.

  29. 29

Lmao i never even knew there was daytime emmys xD

  30. 30

I didnt watch it because I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS FUCKING ON TV! I wanted to watch it!! Where was the promotion? Where were the commercials telling us it was going to be on the CW?? SOO disappointing.

  31. 31

I'd like to stick that up her butt and break it off……….

  32. 32

Oh, was that Crap on? Nope, didn't know, didn't care.

  33. 33

well I could'nt watch it because it was not on any canada channels so next year that should have the show everywhere and they would get more people to watch.

  34. 34

Well it was on the CW network and I don't watch much on that station and hadn't a clue it was even going to be on until I read it online….

YES I watched both the preshow and the show…really disappointed "The View" won…I can't stand to watch it as they all talk at the same time and it just irritates me! Oh yeah and Elizabeth is on….

  35. 35

Perez, do you realize that 2.86 million is more than the average episode of Gossip Girl?

  36. 36

tuned in the second hour, because I have a JOB and had just got home.

The show sucked! Was it because it was on the CW??
Everything about it was HORRIBLE!! Dr. Phil and his wife as presenters??? Really???!!
The writing was not only not funny, it was stupid. The direction was really bad!
And at the end they cut off the end of the show….WTF??!!

Think the generation of adoring and awarding daytime TV is OVER.
We all have second jobs now, which makes daytime TV unnecessary.

  37. 37

Yeah, agree–who watches the CW??? Oh, Ellebunny, do work HARD, and love to come home, kick my feet up and watch the hilarity–Y & R 20 years running as the best, now my other Bold & Beautiful–it's sister soap won–awesome. Fun shows with great senses of humor!

  38. 38

This had nothing to do with the Emmy's, but….STEVE BURTON is the HOTTEST actor out there…blows away Brad Pitt and at 40 is better looking than any 20 something movie actors out there now. He is so BEAUTIFUL! Oh, he can act too, lol.

    39

It was so sad seeing the GL cast take their final bow after the tribute… but I loved how they played their old 1990's theme song during their bows, because that's the theme song that resonates with so many longtime GL fans. RIP, Guiding Light!!!

  40. 40

Re: TVTim – Yes, it was. I will miss GL a lot. They've stepped it up the past few months but the clock is ticking. It's just so sad.

  41. 41

There was an awards show on Sunday night? Guess i missed it. Fallout from a Mexican buffet and hourly trips to the porcelan goddess every hour thereafter.

  42. 42

Nope, didn't even know it was on. I guess you have to watch the CW and see the ads? I don't watch that channel. Looks like Tyra won something, Eww.

  43. 43

    Re: lucky420 – LOL!
I saw her show for the first time the other day and she's horrible! How can someone who hasn't even lived in the real world think they can give advice about anything not related to modeling and makeup? Did you mention "self-important"?

  44. pj88 says – reply to this

    44

I think thats a good number for the CW on a Sunday night in August… I think it was a "fresh" show this year, and I enjoyed them being on the CW. I think it found a great new home and I hope they will air them on their network next year.

  45. Delsy says – reply to this

    45

honestly they should switch no one watches the CW

  46. 46

Re: VioletMars – If you are talking to me, shut the fuck up. I said the ones who watched the emmys are the ones who watched the daytime garbage… When most people are working the 8/9-5 shift. Jesus, you are dumb. "Working on a Sunday night, sucks for you" Hahaha… You must be young or something since you obviously didn't understand what I had written. All is forgiven, child :D

  47. 47

Re: VioletMars – I guess you didn't understand what I meant by, "be home to watch that shit" as in the shows that are celebrated during the Ohhh Sooo Popular *Daytime Emmys*

  48. 48

My J-O-B is a work at home job and it is probably more important than your burger flipping, ellebunny. Did you have to look up how to spell job?

I'm sure the hospitals that I work for at home do not mind if I take a break every now and then to watch a little soapness.

  49. 49

Re: dareisay – Burger Flipping… Right… I see how I can be flipping burgers from 8-5… Yeah, and have access to a computer… Right. Actually, I am in college and work full time in an office… Which I see you don't since you are doing some home health blah blah from home. But, I think you probably offended some users… I bet there is *someone* on here that works in the fast food industry. Hey, work is work and I applaud them. In all honestly, they get more respect from me then you do considering they actually leave the house. AND! without the lovelies @ the ff places, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the dollar menu and such!

But, congrats on making others feel bad and making yourself look shallow.

    Toodles!

  50. 50

Um I have a life aka a Job and I watch soaps its called Tivo people you can tivo daytime must like primetime shows (which by the way are soaps only with bigger productions) or you can watch them on Soapnet. The daytime emmys had low ratings because they were on the CW (and lucky to be) not one of the big 4 networks, plus the CW didnt have any money to promote the show they were mainly just counting on the soap watcher to watch it but it doesnt help that not everyone gets the CW if you had read more about the ratings you would of saw that the Emmys gave the CW the best Sunday night every.

  51. 51

No! Didn't even know they were on.
