      I've been a fan of Imogen's for quite a while now, even back when she was with the band Frou Frou. I love her just for the reason that she is a bit off, a bit eccentric, but her music has always been so intense and (I can't seem to think of another word other than) artistic. "Hide and Seek" continues to be one of my fav's from her, and if given the chance, I know alot of your readers would really enjoy her harmonious chaos.

      she has to be one of THE most underated singers that we've had to offer in the past couple of years. shes incredible. Ive seen her live about 10 times now and everytime she brings something different to the table, her live shows are something else - an experience. BRILLIANT WOMAN

      Well if you were not a fan of the performance you should definitely check out her CD it's BRILLIANT! She's Brilliant :) Altho I have to agree that is definitely not her best live performance (she even messed up the lyrics in the second verse where instead of singing the correct lyric "yet no one cares to notice, for all the yelling, all night clamor to hold it together." and instead repeats the line "Is this an echo game? irises retreating to ovals of white." from the first verse.

      I love love love love this girl's music. I discoverd Frou Frou long after they were done, but am so excited to see she's still doing solo stuff. I'm so happy she has a new album out and will certainly scoop it up!

      What a lot of you may not realize, is that she's triggering ALL of the instruments you hear, and all of the vocals from that board on her lap. See her pressing buttons as she sings in the beginning? She's recording snippets.
      Basically, the entire live performance is coming from HER. And she sounds beautiful live. Even if you don't like the song, this sort of talent is rarely found in popular music. This, my friends, is a musical artist.

      Most of my friends don't even know who she is, so not mainstream.
      She's an odd person but very good.

      I've always wanted a Tenori-on!!! (that's the device she's using to create digital music). This is the best live example of it I've seen.

      THIS, MY FRIENDS, IS SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A LOT OF GADGETS IN ORDER TO GET THROUGH A PERFORMANCE. SOMEONE LIKE JONI MITCHELL (A REAL ARTIST) WOULD HAVE SAT DOWN AT THE PIANO, PLAYED IT, AND SUNG ALONG WITHOUT ALL OF THAT EXTRA CRAP - AND IT WOULD HAVE SOUNDED GREAT.

      I think everyone should have an opinion. But when their opinion is so uninformed and uninspired, I just find it difficult to swallow. I'm a huge Imogen Heap fan. And NO I do not like "Pretentious" music. I enjoy ALL music. She is CLEARLY talented. Anyone who can perform almost every piece of the music you hear is absolutely stunning. Especially when today's generation is full of people who make music from sampling others music and being over produced (Cough.. Heidi Montag.. Cough). And I'll even come out and say that I don't think this album is as good as her last. I'll say that much. But it's still great, and rewarding to listen to. OH and She's AMAZING live. I've seen her about 5 times or so now and she's funny, and sounds really great. It's really hard to do what she does. But she pulls it off so wonderfully. I would say to people who aren't familiar with her, to get familiar and really pay attention to what she's actually doing.

And no, she does perform some of her songs with just the piano, but the music you hear her perform is all made by her and her different instruments. She records at home all of it one by one and puts it together, and instead of just sitting there playing a piano. That's so much easier then what she's actually doing, she actually uses her gadgets to perform the other instruments as well. Honestly, I need to stop reading this as people just don't have a clue obviously. Everyone has their opinion I understand. but when it's coming from a place of ignorance it's just so damn annoying!

      Wow. I'm shocked by how ignorant and unaware you are O.o
      Imogen's music and performances consist of lots of layering and sampling. Why should she change that if that's her style? She records most of the samples/instruments live as she goes. The thing is that her time on the show was limited so she obviosly couldn't spend ~10 minutes recording all the bits and layering them.
      If you say that she can't play the piano you definitely haven't heard her improvs. She can play piano, guitar, cello, drums, mbira, hang…
      The studio version of the song doesn't have the piano at all, so that's just an extra detail she added.
