The economy may still suck, but the box office raked it in this year! Variety proclaiming 2009 as the highest-grossing summer ever!

A big thanks, should be attributed to the craptastic blockbusters and geek-driven movie epics that filled the summer months. Among those big names that helped fuel the movie theater funds were Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($399.4 million), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($294.3 million) and Disney/Pixar's Up ($289.6 million).
Who needs fresh air when there are fantastical worlds to escape to?!

Up did amazingly well. Then you get the summer flops like V-Slutdgens Bandslam. Luckily, she got good reviews otherwise, well…I don't know…

Every time ther is a down turn in the economy people seem to need more entertainment . . . maybe to try and forget how things suck for them at this time, who knows.
But yea, it certainly was not for the quality of the films put out this year….

I didn't contribute a penny to this summer bonanza. Haven't seen a single one of these flicks yet.
obviously it's the biggest grossing summer ever, because movie theaters keep raising their prices! Just a couple years ago it was probably around 9 bucks to see a movie, and now the theater in my neighborhood is charging $11.50! It's ridiculous, I won't even go any more…I just wait for dvd!

I'm pretty disappointed transformers beat HP… especially since I saw the movie twice! Forget Robert Pattinson; I'll take Daniel Radcliffe any day of the week.

Th eonly reason its the biggest box office summer is because maybe the ticket prices just get more outrageous each year???? - ever think of that.

Saw it on a date. Its like A giant commercial for Harry Potter with no ending, Id kill Harry Potter for an ending……
