Gokey Gets A Record Deal
Remember American Idol's Danny Gokey? We almost forgot about the 2nd place loser 3rd Runner Up of last season's American Idol. The Idol curse hasn't run its course on him yet, seeing as he just signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville.
The label he's signed with doesn't come as surprise, considering he sang three country songs on Idol.
Joe Galante, chairman of Sony Music Nashville, says they love 29-year-old Gokey's "soulful edge" and are excited about the Idol alum's addition to the label. "We haven't had anybody like that (in country) since Ronnie Milsap or T. Graham Brown."
What a nice compliment! (We think.)
Danny's album is expected to drop March of next year, but fans can expect a single to hit the airwaves in late fall.
Although we don't think Danny will have the same amount of success as Kris Allen or Adam Lambert, we're glad to see he hasn't disappeared into obscurity like other Idol alums. Yet!

I saw this Movie Line interview weeks back where they interviewed all the Idols. ML included the part where Gokey stopped the interview to creep on the "hot lady in the skirt and heels" standing over there. Basically he interrupted the interviewer's question and got super sleazy asking him to get her number for him. This was a few MONTHS after his wife's death. Just like he went on a date less than 2 WEEKS after his wife's death and just like he auditioned for Idol 4 weeks after her death. I'm sure Sophia is proud of him up there.

Okay so Danny should have won idol and personally his voice was ALOT better than Adam Lamberts. His voice was so annoying. Danny was my favourite and i will definitly buy his album.

I think Danny Gokey is a big fake.His voice isn't bad, but I really think he is faking being accepting of Adam Lambert, and during the end of AI he was studying Adam to mimic his moves as he is such an uncool guy himself. Also, I think he was a super insincere geek to be hitting on women so soon after his wife's death, and played the grieving widower card for all he could get out of it.
I will totally be buying his album, I was gunning for him or kris to win on AI. Love him!!!

Just saw the tour this weekend. Alison was terrible, but Danny rocked it! Glad to hear he got a deal and will be spending some time in Music City, USA. I may just have to go stalk him!

I'm a biiiig country fan.. and he was terrible. If he sings Danny Gokey he'll be fine.. but still he's boring.. i lovedd him at the beginning but he still doesn't wow me… He just has to stay away from trying to sing Rascal Flatts because that was one of his worst performances

I loved the top 4 contestants. I think Danny has a good voice and I will buy his album not because of his religious beliefs or because he lost his wife but because I enjoy his singing. Grow up people!
