Whitney Disappoints Fans, Blames Oprah!
Whitney Houston's highly anticipated comeback performance on Good Morning America in Central Park was disappointing to many, as the diva's voice didn't meet many fans' expectations.
Whitney apologized to the crowd, even bringing Oprah Winfrey into the explanation!
She said: "I'm so sorry. I did Oprah. I've been talking for so long…I talked so much my voice…I shouldn't be talking, I should be singing."
Whitney's fans, coming as far as from Australia to see the superstar perform, were supportive of Whitney despite her unusually husky voice missing the high notes that made her famous.
Whitney, the world wants you to succeed, but no more excuses! Rest that voice of yours and be sure to WOW us next time!

Well the elephant in the room is that Whitney Houston cannot sing anymore. Time, the drugs, and the hard times have robbed her of the beautiful, powerful voice she used to have. She just can't belt them out like she used to. Don't forget about age also…when her cousin Dionne Warwick started out, she had a high ranged clear voice, as she matured, she developed a husky raspy type voice. The same thing may be happening to Whit.
The same thing happened to Mariah, although not because of drugs. Mariah has lost her voice and her range, and only sings in breathy falsettos now.

I didn't think it was that bad, very emotional performance, at the beggining it was a little shaky, but she needs more rest, maybe a vocal coach to help her out and a good diet. I am sure she will be fine! I actually enjoyed it! Wish her the best!

Whitney has been giving mini concerts for over a year now and everytime she delivered! Her voice isn't gone! A couple of months ago she gave one hell of a performance at the Clive Davids party. She was super and her voice was allmost as good as it was! Ok, this performance wasn't all that good but give her a brake. Everyone could have an offday once. She needs to take her rest and train her vocals every day and then she can blow us away again. Don't forget that your vocalcords are like muscels and she hasn't been "training" for years, it takes time! And voices change, the older you get the lower your voice gets. This has nothing to do with crack or coke or whatever, it has to do with training, rest etc. And last I think that even on her worsed day, Whitney still kicks ass! She is THE VOICE, in the past, present and future!
This isn't new - I saw Whitney live in concert about 15 years ago and I was not impressed. Sinbad opened for her and I was alot more impressed with him than her. She is one of those people that can't sing live. Hope she doesn't become a diva again either!

I totally agree with you. I found those performances online and she sounded great. Even when her voice was at it's strongest you notice one common thing. The more she runs around the stage, jumps and claps wildly, the more out of breath she gets and the weaker her voice becomes. This is true of ANY voice. I think someone in Whitney's world needs to tell her to just walk up to the mic, stand still, look beautiful and BREATHE…. She does not need to run around to please her fans. I think just standing at the mike appears more commanding, more in control, and… more Diva anyways.

If Whitney stops singing, she'll start doing drugs again. She's using her comeback as a series of AA meetings. Sober or not, her voice is beyond repair due to years of chain-smoking cigarettes. All vocalists eventually lose their ability to sing as if they were in their 20s. It happened to Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and now Mariah Carey. Age is the most damaging event on the vocal chords. Vocal chords dry out over the years, and only 200% of effort can slow down that process. Madonna has miraculously preserved her voice (now with an amazing and controlled vibrato) due to diet, exercise and living well.
