Dr. Kevorkian on Michael Jackson's Death

Filed under: Drugs > Michael Jackson

In his first national interview since parole, Dr. Jack Kevorkian sat down with Fox News to weight in on allegations against Michael Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray.

"I don't think he was malicious," said the doc. "Murder is defined by forethought …Did the doctor have forethought? I doubt it. The patient got what he wanted. He is the one who said yes or no to take a drug."

Yet, many claim Kevorkian is not the most reputable person to judge the feasibility of manslaughter charges as he assisted in the deaths of terminally ill patients, resulting in an eight-year prison sentence on second-degree murder charges.

"I have no regrets," he claims. "Everyone I helped welcomed death. I do what a physician should do — what is best for the patient, period. If I did it with malice or forethought and without permission than I would be a murderer. But, they forgot the definition of murder when they criticized me; because it’s so negative, they win by fear."

assisted suicide is murder. that doctor is looney.

    2. 2

He should not have been punished. Why do we think we have the right to tell people they have to live? We're disgusting with our desire to control so much.

    3. 3

After much thought, I agree this is a valid theory.

    4. 4

      :'(

    5. 5

While I don't think what happened in MJ's case was right, I do think a person should have the right to decide whether to live or die.

    6. 6

Let's just clear this up. Not everyone Kevorkian "assisted" was terminally ill. Some simply had psychological problems. Just putting that out there.

    7. 7

wtf? the patient got what he wanted? Michael did not want to die….how dare this "dr" even say that….he should choose his words wisely next time he chooses to spew crap out of his ass i mean mouth.

    8. 8

"Dr." Kevorkian, if you were convicted for eight years on second degree murder charges, I doubt the jury forgot the definition of murder. I'm more than sure YOU forgot the definition of murder. Michael got what he asked for? Maybe, accept you forgot to mention one key factor. What Michael supposedly asked for was an illegal substance that a legit doctor would have never given to Michael under such circumstances. You, Kevorkian (because I think you are a poor excuse for a doctor), are no better than Conrad Murray. If I asked someone to shoot me in the chest and that person did, is it not called murder because I "asked" for it? God gave everyone in the world common sense. The sad part is many of us let it collect dust.

I don't know what it is about this guy. He scares the chit out of me. I'm not against what he does but something………..

I just got back from seeing S. Can't wait for you to meet her! Yat all day yesterday. ym ms bg 46

    11. 11

Manslaughter and murder are two entirely different things. Dr. K. gets this, you are the one who is completely confusing one with the other, genius.

    12. 12

He's saying he got what he wanted which was the drugs.

    13. 13

assisted suicide should be legal — we "humanely" euthanize our animals when they are suffering and dying — yet we force humans who are suffering/dying to linger till the bitter end –

also Michael Jackson was not looking for assisted suicide, he was looking to sleep — bit different –dr should have refused/quit whatever — the man was an addict — should not have been indulged for the money

    14. 14

But I should say as a doctor you are the one with the power to say no. Unless doctors nowadays are puppets? I pay you you do as I say. I don't care if it will kill me just dowit!

What a fucking brainless idiot.MJ wasn't terminally ill and didn't give permission to any quack doctor to kill him.MJ was MURDERED. He consented to a sleep medication, and the killer gave him a series of regularly prescribed medications hoping they would interact and cause him to have a respiratory arrest, which wouldn't cause any suspicion and the quack wouldn't be even prosecuted because it would be seen as an "accident". It didn't work as planned,so he had to finish him off with propofol. That's why he had to call "others" to get reassured that nobody would get his ass,and clear all his tracks. After he made sure MJ was dead and beyond resucitation the coward killer had someone call 911.
People need to get out of their denial mode and face the fact MJ was obviously murdered and keep the case alive until the killer(s) get their day in court.

I agree. Michael Jacksons death was most likely the result of a miscommunication or dosage error but certainly not a murder. The man was on his payroll why would he want to kill him and lose his behind. And working in the health care field will leave you believing in assisted suicide, end of life suffering is stomach turning and ugly and you wouldn't wish it on an animal or your worst enemy.

    17. 17

Michael killed Michael. He was an addict.

      The doctor is an idoit.
      RIP MJ ♥

    20. 20

Kevirkian was an Angel of Mercy. He ended suffering. That is beautiful, in that SO MANY suffer. What #2 says is so true.

    21. 21

MJs death is a whole other thing. The doc gave MJ a very dangerous drug outside the hospital and without any equipments at all to monitor him if something should go wrong.. and it did. He killed MJ, wheter it was an accident or not.. he did kill MJ. this has nothing to do with it

    22. 22

Dr. Kevorkian allowed terminally ill people to die with some dignity. I watched both of my parents die. One died fairly quick from a massive heartattack, but my mother suffered through cancer. At the end, it was unbearable to see her go through what she went through. The people that he assisted signed waivers, etc. Most of those people would've killed themselves in one way or another. It is probably easier to watch your loved one go that way than to find them OD'd or hanging, etc. If you people have never had to live through watching a loved one suffer, then STFU!
      ************************************
Kevorkian isn't saying that Jackson asked for death, he is saying that he asked for the drugs. Dr. Murray was wrong for providing them, however, he was obviously in it for the money.

    25. 25

That stupid old fart doesn't realize the difference between "homocide" and "murder." MJ's death was ruled a "homocide" by the coroner - meaning one person causing another's death. The chances are Dr. Murray will be charged with either manslaughter or negligent homocide (neither of which involve malice aforethought), not first or second-degree murder.

      That old dude rocks!

And…..he's right about FrankenJacko. The freak was old enough to know what was what and he chose the way he lived and died.

Re: Moron – Hopefully one day your kid will be molested and raped by a superstar who paid for his acquittal :)

    28. 28

assisted suicide should be legal. I work with cancer patients every day that are miserable and just want it to end. I had a guy holding my hand yesterday that kept saying "I just want to die. I just want to rest. I just want to be free". Just because some don't agree with it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be illegal.

    29. 29

Re: – God will take them when it's their time. No one should be initiating someone's death, no matter the circumstance. That is what morphine drips and such are for. My mother passed from complications due to cancer, so I know what it's like to see someone go through it.

    30. 30

I attend the University of Florida and i fortunately got the chance to hear Dr.K speak during one of his first lectures when he got out, this man is a very LOGICAL thinker, what he did was NOT murder. And for those of you who think it is, review his case. He took very strong precautions, to make sure that was he was doing was assisted suicide and not murder. And as for MJ, I do not believe he was murdered, he was a drug addict and he was fucking Michael Jackson of course if he wants drugs, no doctor is going to say no. DUH! Use common sense people, and stop being so ignorant.

    31. 31

Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – I don't understand why you continue to comment the same thing over and over and OVER again. We get that you think Michael killed himself. Fine. Professionals who have seen such cases a billion times think otherwise. They ruled it a homicide. In case you don't know what that means, it is defined as the killing of one person by another. It is your lack of research that contributes to your continuous ignorance. Why comment when you know you're gonna be knocked down with the truth provided by evidence? Also, Michael was INNOCENT of all of those charges. Again, do your research. Karma will visit your doorstep one day soon, I'm more than sure of it. You disgust me.

    32. 32

I love Dr. Jack. He helped my friend Janet die, she was the first one he helped. I think he's a great person. I wrote and told him so. Assisted suicide is a great thing, should be used more often.

I feel sort of bad for Dr. Murray, he was just the "last one" of many….stupid decisions he made but Jackson was…jeez…..insanely addicted and no one could make him listen. I wonder why he didn't just put his own IV in ….seems he was confused and desperate enough to do so. Right, Murray didn't murder anyone, just contributed to/caused the death. so much for his great new career!

Kevorkian should never have done time. You don't have to be "terminal" to want to die, and to those who talk about terminal, hello, we ARE ALL TERMINAL!!!!

    33. 33

      Re: c h a d s t e r – BUT….not everyone believes in god. People should go when they're ready.

    34. 34

hes gotta damn good point, there-
Kevorkian should Not be in jail, should never spent a day- his patients welcomed death, the same as abortion recipients. this is a Choice that if somebody else makes on us then we can call murder or taking that choice away call violation of civil liberty, just as it is not illegal to commit suicide .. :)

    35. 35

Hey, guess what?! Michael Jackson is still dead and no amount of arguing on here will bring him back to life.

    36. 36

I don't disagree with Kevorkian's work with respect to assisted suicide for TERMINALLY ILL patients. Since when do patients tell doctors what to do?! Clearly, Dr. Murray didn't know what the hell he was doing and when MJ died, he sat there and talked on the phone for an hour like nothing. Michael Jackson did NOT ask for this, nor was it what he wanted. May Michael finally rest in peace and have justice served.

    37. 37

      Re: c h a d s t e r – No his 20 year addiction to painkillers killed him. He DEMANDED the Propofol.

    38. 38

I don't understand this assisted suicide concept. As if suicide wasn't dreadful enough, do we really need assistants in the matter? Kevorkian, go back to prison because if you're assisting in helping someone die, you are responsible for murdering that person. Using a watered down term such as "assisted suicide" doesn't change that fact one bit. Dude, what is this f'in world coming to?

I agree with Dr. K, Jackson got what was more than likely his nightly doseage, his decision. Only this time it bite him in the Ass. There has to be a scape goat in this to save face, so to say, for Jackson and his clan. Do you really think people close to Jackson didn't know this was going to happen or surprised it didn't already?

    44. 44

Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – um if you were smart you would know that his legal team only paid money the FIRST time . the second time he was simply NOT GUILTY ! so get your facts straight first honey !

Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – It says a lot about your values and morals that you would take money from a pedophile instead of sueing his ass. It seems like you should feel sick and vomit at the site of your own reflection in the mirror. I suspect you are projecting your feelings of inadequacy onto MJ. You should seek professional help.

    46. 46

Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – Technically speaking, he was not 50 at the time of his 2005 trial and certainly not at the time of the 1993 allegations. As far as the 15 million dollars are concerned, I'm not sure where you got that information from, as no one has ever disclosed how much his legal team was paid. It doesn't really matter if he paid his legal team $1 or $100 million, they did a great job in EXPOSING the leeches, known as the accusers, and helping to keep an innocent man out of prison. I tell you what. Why don't you quit commenting nonsense and provide me with some proof that will link Michael to those crimes. In case you didn't do your research, it has been said countless times that the 2005 cases had NO SUBSTANCE. The prosecution's witnesses were inaccurate in every way possible, and there was much evidence to prove that Michael was in fact innocent. Pick up Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones and learn the truth, unless you're too afraid to. Oh and if you're gonna use the old, "No 50-year-old man should be spending the night with children," know that that's your opinion and that such an action doesn't mean something sexual has to happen, has happened, or will happen. You know why people like yourself constantly label Michael Jackson a child molester? Because normally men who do what Michael did are child molesters. You're accustomed to the typical and not the exceptional. Like I said, provide proof or shut up.

Re: doramora – duh I don't think he meant it that way. Michael wanted those drugs to help him with his insomnia. Like he said MJ could have said no to taking those drugs, it's not like the docotr forced him to take them.
I agree with Dr. Kevorkian he thought about what the patient wanted, and since when did we have the right to tell people they have to live.

    55. 55

Dr. Kevorkian is exactly right. Unless this Dr. held MJ down and injected him against his will, its not Malicious. That is the point Dr. K was trying to make. Yes, the guy was slimy as far as doctors go but I'm sure that is why MJ sought him out. Most decent doctors won't cater to drug addicts' addictions.

    56. 56

      Re: Moron

What exactly was wrong with what she said? A drug addict dying of an overdose, etc should take AT LEAST some of the blame for their death. As for your theory on how MJ died, please enlighten me as to what source you got this from. I could personally care less about MJ so I am not following this stuff but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here if you have a reliable source.

    57. 57

Dr Kevorkian is great! I would love to have the option of assisted suicide if I had a very painful and incurable disease. I don't see what the big deal is because it is each adults decision and everyone deserves to die with dignity! In regards to his comment about MJ, I think that this doctor should be prosecuted.

    58. 58

Re: c h a d s t e r – I don't think God wants people to suffer in a hospital bed as doctors and nurses give them medication that keeps them alive longer but doesn't make them feel any better and as their families watch and also suffer. Everyone should do what is right for them. It's fine for someone to tough it out ’til the very end but some people who know that they can't be cured should have the option to die as they wish. I don't understand why people are bothered by this I kind of understand people's anger over abortion and why people get upset but being against this is truly ridiculous.

    59. 59

I think that he's right. Ultimately Jackson chose to take those drugs. Perhaps the doctor should be brought up on charges of malpractice but not murder. Doctor Kevorkian is not crazy like some of you insist. He helped terminally ill patients die after they asked him for help. These are people who are truly suffering constant pain. He ended their lives with their permission and saved them a painful death. I would want someone to help me the same way if I were in agony and already dying from a disease that was slowly killing me.

    60. 60

My goodness, everyone's confused. Let's start with Dr. K. It's "malice aforethought" - both words together make one term. It's not "malice or forethought" meaning either one and/or the other. It's an old expression meaning you planned to do something bad, which is expressed in modern legal language by the word "intent." In order for it to be murder, the perpetrator has to have intent to kill. Therefore, only Major Loonies try to insist MJ was murdered, as there is not a scrap of evidence that anyone had the intent to kill him. Causing the death of another person is homicide, which if you do it without intent usually results in a manslaughter charge, which is almost certainly the charge the LAPD is thinking of bringing against Dr. Murray if they have the evidence, but with all the drugs and other sources of drugs involved, they might not be able to prove he alone caused it, so they might drop the whole thing down to negligence. NO ONE MURDERED MICHAEL JACKSON! OK, are we all straight now? La Toya, any questions?

    61. 61

this doctor need to get hanged with conrad murray, they're sick people

    62. 62

I DON'T THINK MICHAEL ASKED TO DIE HE WAS ADDICTED HE NEEDED HELP AND THIS DOCTOR ENDED KILLING HIM(WELL NOT ONLY HIM) BUT AS FOR THE PATIENTS HE HAD I THINK HE IS RIGHT

    63. 63

      64

Yes, the patient said yes or no, but there's that little matter of the Hippocratic Oath, with which Hollywood or celebrity doctors would do well to refresh their memories. Do. No. Harm.

      65

I'm not against assisted suicide in the terminally ill. Jackson was not terminally ill.

    66. 66

In UK nobody has ever gone to jail for assisting the suicide of a terminally ill person wishing to die.He is right.MJ was on a collision with his own death for years. It could have been on any one of dozens doctors watch.. sadly it was Murray. MJ was a selfish pig of a man who did not care what would happen to those around him because of this flirting with death and drugs.

    67. 67

As unpopular as this is, I agree with Dr. Kevorkian as far as MJ goes. Being a recovering opiate addict, an addict will get the drugs wherever or however. If it wasn't this Dr, it would've been another doc. (or off the streets or whatever) But people are starfuckers and wanted to be close to MJ & please him. But murder? Not sure if that's the proper term to label it…

Re: jaimeweasley – You are WRONG!! He NEVER assisted in any suicide because someone had psychological problems!!! He researched each persons medical history and made certain that they were terminally ill. I really wish people would check their facts before spouting off like this.

What about the hippocratic oath??? Isn't that worth nothing?

"Everyone I helped welcomed death. I do what a physician should do — what is best for the patient, period…"

YEAH! And Murray killed his patient - a doc should to be able to make out a helpful and a lethal dose PERIOD²!

    73. 73

Of course this guy is going to stick up for Murray! he tried to kill people for a living.
