The North Carolina couple claim that they were taking care of the child on Monday during the attack.
The follicly challenged, mother-of-the year was taking medication and allegedly did not the hear the baby's cries, despite sleeping in the same room.
Apparently, they only discovered the missing appendages when changing their son's diaper the next morning. The child may lose the rest of his foot.

This DID not happen weeks ago! I LIVE IN THE SAME TOWN! Jacksonville NC and was at the ER when the baby was brought in. This happened Monday, this past Monday August 21st. I don't believe the DOG/PUPPY did it. The parents do need to spend a LOOONG time in jail and never to be able to see their children. NOBODY HEARD THE BABY CRY!? i live in nc, in a military community, and pit bulls are BIG here…on base housing…a mother left her young child home ALONE with the 'family pet', only to come home to her child being EATEN by the dog!!! sadly, the child died..this didnt even happen a year ago!

I have a pit bull and a 1 year old daughter. they are amazing together. the dog bring her his toys and waits her to feed him when I feed her, he takes it so gently out of her hands and she can pull a bone right out of him mouth and he is ok with it. pit bulls are not vicious to humans. they don't like others dogs but they love humans. they are great dogs for children since they know kids are not dogs and don't try to dominate them as other breeds do.
im sorry this happened to that little baby but its the mothers fault for being drugged out and not taking care of her kid or her pit bull.

I have a pit and she is the sweetest thing ever. My brother's yorkie is meaner than her. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but this happened VERY close to where I live, so I saw extensive coverage of it on the local news.
The pit bull was just a tiny little puppy. They tested it for rabies, Which It DID NOT HAVE, and STILL euthanized the innocent puppy!
The parents were obviously at fault here. How in the fuck did the puppy get to the baby in the first place, if the baby was in a crib like it should have been?
