I love Leona's voice and have follwed her since her X Factor days - somehow the promise and raw talent that she showed on that programme have never been fully capitalised on, in my opinion. Just watch some of her live X Factor performances - her versions of 'I Will Always Love You', 'I Have Nothing', 'Summertime' and 'All By Myself' for example - they show what an amazing vocal talent she is, how flexible and varied and what a range she has - and power too - and yet none of her recorded tracks to my mind have caught this, apart from maybe 'Bleeding Love' and 'Run'. This track is pretty so-so musically, but her voice is amazing. She just needs to find the right tracks for her voice. This is good, but it doesn't showcase her well enough.
Well I have not reached a definite conclusion about this song yet but comparing it to Bleeding Love is a bit far-fetched don't you think ?
And another thing, Perez - she wasn't your beloved Leona all that time you had a beef with Sony, was she? You didn't report anything about her for a whole year. Now they're paying you again you're her greatest fan again. Your approval would mean more if it wasn't so clearly tied up with money.

While a really good song, and very well sung. I think she could have used more of her range more. I didn't feel any real climax at all. It sounds kind of like Nothing Compares 2 U in some places, Halo in others. I'm going to have to endure it even if (in the unlikely event) I don't like it because the radio stations will keep playing it until the CD is destroyed. This single really doesn't sound that great to me. I didn't expect anything great from Leona, though. She's another one of those girls who has a decently developed voice and a fair amount of technical control, but I'm not sure that she's musically educated enough to create truly great music. A lot of these "divas" end up relying heavily on producers and songwriters to create hit music for them to sing to, which must be stressful. Just because a producer may have created one or several major hit singles doesn't ensure that he/she will happen to come up with one for a particular album. It's better when the artist whose name the album is coming out under is artistically-inclined enough to be able to create songs and figure out if they will do well with audiences before even releasing them, and then to be willing to fight for that creative control (like Christina Aguilera and Pink did for their follow-up albums to their producer-/record label-helmed debuts). I would love to see Leona make truly inspiration music along the lines of Lauryn Hill, but I suspect that she won't stray from the formulaic pop sounds and themes. I don't really blame her, either. I'd rather be making great money recording albums and performing sugary-sweet music for adoring crowds all over the world than working some borderline minimum wage job, which I believe she had been doing prior to her X Factor breakthrough.

When you like someone, you make sure the world knows it and Leona is a perfect example. As far as Leona Lewis is concerned, her voice is amazing. To read other comments saying, that she has no 'range' in her voice just makes me wonder what rubbish they must listen to - clearly not clever or intelligent enough to appreciate quality singing talent.
She is down to earth and is unaffected by her fame. While Mariah, on the other hand, is brash, loud and every single sounds the same - she cannot 'sing' she just shouts and screams - not to mention that most of her is surgically enhanced. And if I’m not mistaken, didn’t her career take a nose dive in the US for quite a time.
Leona's new record is good, very good, just as several others on "Spirit" are. It's powerful - will it be a smash hit - don't know but it gets my toes tapping and is that not the reason, dear readers, that we all buy records - whatever our taste in music is.
But one thing is for sure Mariah is not even in the same league - sorry Mariah fans !!.

See, that's what I mean, you need to research before you post, Leona has never moved from the UK - like "number1danman" says, she only recored some tracks in the US. She actually STILL lives with her mum & dad in the UK.
And down to earch ! - she turned down $3 million from Harrods in London, to open their 'after Christmas sales' - why, because they sell real fur coats.
She is MASSIVE in every country in Europe , plus the Far East, plus Australia & New Zealand (there is life outside the US !)and had No1's everywhere mentioned. She is regularly on TV in those countries.
Had America been lucky enough to see how Leona blossomed, as the 'X Factor' show progressed and the final week when she actually won, they would have been able to appreciate just what an amazing singing voice she has. She can sing Rock, Slow, Fast, Classic - she may not be everyones cup of coffee, but certainly the best talented (vocally) singer since Celine, and
W/Houston.
Don't want to labour the point about Mariah Carey thing, as it's pointless, but America had enough of her a few years back and sent her to Europe - where she DID NOT do well. Now she seems to be back in flavour in the US. No problem there, if you like her - crack on.
