SNL Gals Get Canned
We mentioned last week that SNL would be getting two fresh, female faces added to the cast this year. What we didn’t know until now is that they will be replacing the fresh, female faces added last year!
Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson have been axed from the show, keeping SNL a fairly men’s stomping ground for another season.
When asked about the change, Michaela acted gracious for the experience, but provided an explanation that made little sense:
“The only explanation I got from [Lorne Michaels] — and he’s not known to say things just to make people feel better — was that he felt deep down that I should have my own show. And I agreed. SNL was a dream come true for me. It was a fantastic year. I don’t have any regrets.”
Unless he is giving you your own show, we don’t see what the deal is.
She’s good enough for a solo gig, but not good enough for an ensemble piece? That goes right up there with “You’re overqualified for the position.”
Crap!
Let’s hope these next girls will last longer.

that sucks cause I think Casey was actually a very good fit to the SNL cast. She was really funny. Hopefully she will get her own show.
The show needs more female humour! We need someone hilarious to represent!

I didnt even know Michaela was a cast member, I saw her in like one episode. I knew Casey wouldnt last long cause she never got many laughs.
SNL hasn't been funny since the early 90's.
two of the most useless twats. cannot think of a single funny skit from either of them and also that blonde they added a season or so ago as well, she should go too.
Michaela Watkins did a good Hota Kotb.
Casey was HORRIBLY UNFUNNY. Ty Lorne for pitching her.
I really liked Casey Wilson, the other chick, not so much, but I just don't think they gave her much material. Good luck to both of them tho. I think Casey Wilson wrote a movie or something-Bride Wars, was it?
I didn't care for Casey Wilson but I thought Michaela was funny.
What about Chris Elliot's daughter? Is she still on the show? I liked Casey, but I think she over-acted
when will they get more black people on that show it been years since they had a real black woman on that show that maya chick looked to white

SNL IS HORRIBLE AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS NOW. I MEAN WHO ARE SOME OF THE CAST MEMBERS (GUYS) BLOWING TO STILL BE ON TV AT ALL??!!
I really liked Watkins. She was great as Barbara Walters and one of my fav skits was Hoda Katbe, she was perfect and hilarious as that woman!
unfortunately, comediennes aren't as well accepted as males in the comedy field.
Getting rid of the women won't work- its the writers who are just awful!
I think "You should have your own show" is code for "You're so good you're making the guys look like dweebs." And you know none of the female cast members are allowed to make any SNL guy look like a dweeb.
Should have kept Casey… I see a lot of potential there. I just don't think she was "used" enough. Kristen Wiig is a comedic genious, but it was all about her last year. Had Casey been given a shot, I think she could have really shined.
