Jay-Z Is Pissed!
Jay-Z's 9/11 charity show at Madison Square Garden this Friday, with proceeds going to the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children Benefit Fund, sold out in just a few moments when tickets went on sale Tuesday morning.
Great news, right?
Except many of the purposely economically-priced tickets were snatched up by scalpers re-selling them online for hundreds of dollars!
One website had tickets going for $45,000!
Not cool!
"We are truly disheartened that certain individuals would choose to benefit from what is meant to be a 100% charitable event," said Jay-Z. "We do not support any profits made from reselling any ticket that was meant to be purchased by honest fans."
Efforts were made to avoid a scalping situation by having the tickets sold as close to the concert date as possible, but it just didn't work out as planned, leaving many fans disappointed by the lack of affordable tickets available.
The show will be airing on the Fuse network for those who weren't able to snag tickets.
Shame on you, scalpers!

this story is leaked by his camp to make it look like his tickets are a fucking hot commodity when only ten years ago he couldnt sell out tickets for a $20 show, everything with jay z is staged to take advantage of false perceptions.
really who would pay $45k to see jay z a club in london wouldnt even pay him $30k to perform and a college in arizona couldnt even sell out his stupid show of 10k ppl, dont buy in to his bullshit people.
just do it the old fashion way…make them wait at the ticket booth to purchase the tickets and only allow them to purchase just a few.

OH wow, who could have seen this coming? These idiot "artists" need to step up and take responsibility for the way Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and scalpers are taking advantage of their fans. Instead they continue to do nothing other than bitch about it.
They should go back to the olden days of ticket selling…camping out overnight in a long line!

In every conceivable situation, there are opportunists.
I don't even see the point of this concert. Those people have already been paid enough money. If you gonna do a concert do one that will help provide medical care to those workers that are suffering from cleaning up that mess.

yeah! I was one of those people that woke up and waited until it hit 9am on the dot to go online to get jay-z tickets and after ticketmaster made me wait TEN MINUTES to "search" for available tickets they were all gone! i'm so disappointed its not even funny. i hate scalpers, they're truely disgusting. and its a fucking charity event. what's wrong with them.

Same thing happened with Keith Urbans benefit tickets when they went on sale a few weeks ago. I can't wait until there is a solution for dealing with scalpers.

1. He's doing the same thing as eminem to promote his album. 2. Eminem also tried to stop scalpers by giving out the tickets the day before his concert. but that didn't work out either
