Kathy Griffin A Mega Bitch At Book Signing!

So we hear from the folks that went to her book reading and signing in New York City on Tuesday night!
Infamous D-Lister Kathy Griffin had a few not-so-pleasant surprises for the thousand or so fans that showed up to the her reading/signing last night.
For starters, you had to purchase a book even just to be present for the reading, which isn't the norm for most book releases. Then, once you shelled out $25, you were given a wristband. Depending on how early (or how late) you were to the party, you were given a certain color wristband. Some got you seating, some got you standing-room-only, and some got you jack shit, as we learned that just by having a wristband, didn't mean your book would get signed.
Then, after all that, Kathy didn't even do a reading, saying that she wanted to leave enough time to get to everyone during the signing and didn't even personalize the books!!!

wont go
Perez - you're a dumb ass. That's how POPULAR signings are run these days. Just because YOURS are poorly attended. FYI - I applaud her for making time to sign everybody's book. That's NOT usually the case. People don't come for the reading they come for the autograph. Dumbo.
At least she was appreciative enough to try her best to squeeze everyone in. What did you want? For her to take her time personalizing every book and end up having to disappoint half her fans? And it made sense to make them buy the books. Why would you go to a book signing if you didnt want a signed book? If they let in all those people without books to sign, it would have been even more chaos trying to prioritize and sort out all the people who really went to the event for the purpose it was held.
this chick can lick my dirty ballsac
dayum
That sort of behavior during big book signings isnt that uncommon. It's pretty standard. And while I know fans were disappointed and other stars are able to give what she did not, it's really not that big a deal.
sounds like bad organizing. probably not Kathy's fault… but you know, keep shit talking with no facts to back it up. That's cool.
Still love her
And? If there were that many folks, I can see how she would want to make sure everyone rec'd a signed copy. If she were to personalize every book, some folks would have gone home empty handed. No bashing my girl P
why would you even pay for that shit?
she not pay you enough to keep talking good about her mario?
I love Kathy Griffin. How does this make her a bitch? Sounds like a logistical and managerial call, not hers. And if anything, she probably decided not to personalize or read to sign as many books as possible realizing she wouldn't be able to get to everyone. I think that's better than MORE people receiving nothing at all for their wristband. And how D-List is she that her book signing drew so many people willing to pay for her book and there was still people who didn't get a signed copy? Sounds like a pretty A-List book signing to me… you go girl!
What's bitchy about any of that? Sounds well organized and that she wanted to greet and sign as many books as she could for her fans. So she couldn't personalize them, so what? Seems like the wristband thing is a good way to go to avoid problems.
that's how it was when Lauren Conrad had her book signing in Austin, Texas.
but she WAS nice enough to sign everyone's books.
even though she didn't personalize :
thats to bad . you would think she would be more humble to even consider her life to be even close to be on the d list. personally i cant stand the bitch.
I never did like her. She thinks she has made it to "B list" celebrity status even though she will ALWAYZ be a D list celebrity. She is not funny and her jokes are crude. Ugly bitch.
Man, you (or your sister) are going to pay for this one. Seriously? Calling KG a Bitch? You moron. Hope she Punches you in the other eye fatso.
Um… That doesn't sound like Kathy's problem, I doubt she had much control over the way the event was organized. The whole wristband thing is just an attempt to keep things in order and make things fair… That has happened at a majority of the signings I have been to? And to be honest, her wanting to make sure everybody got to have their book signed is a lot more thoughtful than stopping half way down the line just to do a reading. I'm sure people would rather have said they met her than stood in a room with her? It just sounds like a lot of people turned up and she did the best she could to me.
Sounds like any basic in store appearance to be honest. It's actually much better to fit in as much fans as possible when there are that many people as the stores do impose a curfew and the reading would take the opportunity away from up to 50 people to quickly meet her.
who cares what this g-lister says or does?
Still as FUGLY as a woman can get!!!
just because you'd probably have to PAY someone to buy ur book doesn't mean you should hate on kathy griffin, perez. fucktard.
I WAS THERE IN THE 'STANDING' CROUD and i was really dissapointted that she just signed it and thats it, i spoke to her for like 3 seconds and they were rushing everybody out, you would think that after waiting 5 hours she would at least put my name in it…i still love her but damn…oh and she was only there STRICKTLY for one hour, 8 to 9…leaving many people without a signed book =/
She sounds unpleasant.
WRONG city to do that in honey. We take our book signing seriously here. David Sedaris' signing was PACKED - I mean PACKED - and he signed EVERY book INDIVIDUALLY and still found the "time" to read.
Oh and PS - Don't blame it on your concern for the fans - If Larry King can take the time to read and sign - I'm sure Kathy Griffin can do the same. Have some class KG - If the people are willing to wait (which I have no idea why), the least you could do is read and sign - ESPECIALLY when you REQUIRE a purchase.
No suprise there!
i was at the book signing yesterday in tribecca.. 1st off.. she was not bitchy at all.. she was actually really nice.. the books were $20 each which you had to pay for and then would get a wrist band… they only allotted a certain amount for the event and because of the crowd, got approval for 100 more.. 1st color they gave out was purple, which obviously meant you were there early and would get a seat, second color was their approved green.. that was standing room.. the store was packed.. long line… i waited for like 2 hours.. she went on promptly at 7 — she didnt read from her book but spent about 15 minutes cracking jokes.. of course on oprah, whitneys morning show performance and the gossleings.. she signed up until 9.. she was very appreciative and thanked everyone personally for buying the book and cracked some random jokes with her… so i cant say it was a bad night..
well sir perez those are the same rules that were used at your book signing at boreders columbus circle ny they wouldnt even let ppl in the store if they didnt buy the book and thats how i t is for most celeb related events
you celebs might not know what excatly fans go through to meet you and what is done to them in return(cursed at attutude towards etc)
i personally snuck in and made friends with the guard who ended up geting u to sign a poster for me,which is up on my wall,
If a thousand people showed up, sounds like they handled it the best they could.
i think personalizing books is dumb. do ppl come with their own idea of personalization. And how many words?
She is so damn angry- is it because of what she sees in the mirror each day or because she doesn't get her way? Kathy Griffin may be the hardest working woman on the planet next to Debbie Reynolds, but she does it because she keeps trying to prove she is worthy. She is justa homely girl who is petty and mean to people. Too bad- she has some wit. I could never understand why someone as cheerful as Steve Wozniak put up with her bitter and jealous sniping. Ugh.
THIS IS NOT TRUE! I was there last night and there were no wristbands, there was never supposed to be a reading…it wa strictly a signing. And Barnes and No le ran out of books which was their fault (but awesome for Kathy)
She had been doing promo ALL day and still hung in there until everyone got a signiture. Yes, I would have liked to speak to her longer but that's expected when it's someone with such a big fan base. She was taking photos and personalizing until they realized they'd be there all night if she continued to do that. If anything, this shows how pleasant she is. Far from a bitch.
I still don't understand why I punish myself by coming to this site. This signing was at Barnes and Noble…and as a former B&N employee, I can tell you this is how signings for popular authors go, period. It really had NOTHING to do with Kathy's camp, it's all to do with B&N. The wristbands are to avoid a logistical nightmare. It's nice of her to want to sign everyone's book. Are you pissed Perez? Pissed that you just realized you're the one who's really on the D-List?
I was there last night, and you are wrong about her! Everyone was happy and excited at the event, even though there was a long line. She did not have TIME to personalize the books because there was a 1000 people there, and she wanted to sign everyone's books. And she DID sign everyone's books. The signing started at 7 pm and she was there wayy past 10 pm. She did NOT have to do that but was nice enough to.
Stop misconstruing the truth Perez.
sounds to me like she was just trying to make enough time for everyone to get a signature. unlike you mario, kathy isn't really a bitch, shes just a sweetheart with an awesomely bitchy sense of humor.
I use to work for a large book store and my job was to run all the author signings and this is how it's done. Any signing with a celebrity such as Kathy needs organization or it would be a mess. I'm a little surprised you don't know this Perez, don't you have a book???
kathy loves presss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks perez.
Well im sure signings can be crazy. Shes funny but I bet shes an big bitch.
Re: mdiaz84 – I was at the very end of the line and she signed every single person's book. There were still about 20 people left behind me when she signed mine, and I'm sure she signed theirs' too. Also, she started at 7, so I don't know what you're talking about.
Re: perezhasanalleakage – Mine too, if I had em,
You are such a bitter bitch Perez (Barbara) - at least she had 1000 people turn out for her book signing. You had what… 3?
I was at the book signing and Kathy Griffin is no bitch. She is actually very nice, funny, and charismatic. Her not being able to personalize the books was because she was only given a two hour time span at Barnes and Noble, however she stayed until past 9 to sign all her fans books. It seems ridiculous to me that people would be complaining about her book signing especially since a lot of idiots decided to get there at 8pm…an hour after the book signing had begun.
The funny thing is , the link to the actual article you put in this post that is supposed to portray her in such a negative light is also posted on Kathy's facebook (excuse me…"faceplace") page. That's right, she doesn't care what kind of press it is (heck, she's providing the link herself!!!) she just wants her name out there. I f*ckin love it!!!
That's how signings are done - ESPECIALLY for someone as popular as Kathy G. Remember first and foremost her publishers want you to BUY a book. The fact that she would rather take the time to sign the book than read from it is great. I know when I go to a signing I'd rather have my book signed than listen to the author read from it. Kathy ain't a bitch!
She's going to do 20 minutes of her stand up on how you dissed her in your blog!
Re: cocoabeans – well true it was 7 to 9 but she shouldve personalized at least the ones with purple band cuz we were waiing there for like half a day!!
I WAS THERE.
Perez, you are so fucking stupid it's starting to hurt.
I waited in line early in the morning to get a purple wrist-band, which allowed you a seat for the stand-up (which was advertised as a reading, but who cares). There were only 150 of these. Now some gays who showed up an hour before the reading did not get to SIT DOWN for it, but DID get to at least watch while standing up. Kathy's website explicitly said to call the store for details, and the helpful staff told us to get there before the store opened to be guaranteed a seat.
She was funny, charming, allowed us to chat briefly, and snapped a pic. And we also got a pic with Tiffany and Tom. Pretty good for $25.
SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU UGLY FUCK. It's about time you stopped using these "sources" that just fucking lie to your face. It discredits everything you do. I love when you had that post about Mariah being a bitch during the Macy's photo shoot, and then Martha Stewart (WHO WAS THERE) tweeted that you were just plain wrong.
You are AWFUL.
I have worked signings for Clive Barker, Anne Rice, Colin Powell, and few others. That is typical protocol for author's that draw massive crowds. I surprised that those were the only restrictions. She isn't acting like a diva.
I used to work at a bookstore and what happened is normal. No biggie. Before you make an ass out of yourself please know what you are talking about.
Sounds just like what happened when I went to Lauren Conrad's book signing in Austin. You had to buy a book there, get a wristband, wait in line, and see her for a split second as she signed your book. No shaking hands, no pictures with her, and she never addressed the huge crowd there. Not even to say thanks for coming. REALLY lame.
perez i went to YOUR signing at hot topic…
you were not friendly, you spelled my name wrong, i had to buy an ugly t-shirt, and you didn't personalize jack shit.
how the hell can you sit there and pretend like this is an outrage? YOU DID THE SAME THING.
Yeah, that is pretty much the norm for any signing I have ever been to.
Re: mdiaz84 – Thats not true she was there from seven to nine thirty and she signed every book of every person in that line…. it was about 600 books. she did a great job
Perez, i heart you but for this one, you need a good spankin' girl!
I was present at the book signing:
Kathy arrived in a terrific mood.
She gave a shout out to her gays.
Told funny stories about her media appearances that day.
Profusely thanked the audience for shelling out $$ for her book.
Signed more books than what she committed to
Posed with everyone for a picture- we're talking full on smile.
She was extremely nice and chatty with each fan.
Your source is incorrect.
you have no fucking idea what youre talking about, you werent even fucking there.
i was. she was really nice to me when i got my book signed, and seemed really nice to the other people i saw who got their books signed. she didnt do a reading, but she did do about 15 minutes of standup about her day doing press.
and there was 600 people there, and she only had 2 hours to sign everyones books, so although i was disappointed she couldnt personalize my book, i also understand the reason.
nothing wrong with what she did, but i don't have time for her. She has a dirty, crude mouth and very unfeminine. Ladies should not speak the way she does, it's vulgar and unattractive and you gain zero respect. comedian or not.
psssh i've had to wait in line for harry potter shit that was more expensive and a worse deal than that. sounds like there were too many people to handle! she should have done several book signings! doesn't sound like SHE was being a mega bitch, just the system.
JEEZ PEREZ! stop bashing on our ladies! you're gonna lose your card soon…
Still LOOOOVEEE THE BITCH got to get me a copy of that book LOVE YA KATHY
shit… well i've been reading her book, it's pretty good.
OMG- SHe is so mean to her crew, they all chat about her behind her back!!
She wont allow anyone to upstage her-
she is alone and always wanting MORE- she worked her way up from the ghetto, its time to enjoy and be nice to others, buy your staff cars for god sakes or high end Prada bags ( not the fake cheapo)
HOW LONG HAS SHE BEEN DATING TOM and why doesnt she talk about her love affair I dont want to hear about her childhood MAKE ME LAUGH THATS ALL YOURE GOOD FOR - NO MORE BAD STORIES EVEN IF THEY PAID YOU 1.8 m WE DONT WANT TO HEAR IT - GOT IT??
THIS POST is written with an agenda. It is slanted to look a certain way. A few queens were probably bent out of shape about something and buzzed Perez's ass to tell him all about it. I'll bet 995 others had a very different story.
bit bitter there perez? You're still pissed that she dissed your sorry ass last month on the Larry King show and replaced you with 6 year old beauty queens with more talent than you? Get over it already. I believe the comments on here..Kathy's got too much class to be bitchy (in a nasty way) to her fans. Give her a break already. LOVE YA KATHY!!
PEOPLE GET REAL !!!!….This is a game that the douche bag residue and Kathy Griffin , have goin on…..Its a publicity stunt… !!…He talks so called shit about her…and VOILA , the douche bag residue is on her show !!! …..
Love her ..HATE him
I can't wait to read Kathy's book. I can't afford to spend $25 so I'll wait until paperback is printed or it's available in the discount book store. I'd like to have a hard copy. I collect biographies.
i thought all gay guys loved kathy
I understand what she's doing. but most signings just have someones name on a post it. she would have just had to read the post it and sign. not that hard.
the wristband thing just sounds unorganised, but her heart was there!
i'm sorry, i don't see what she did wrong - the first people there SHOULD get seating, why should someone that shows up at the last minute get a better spot? and why is it bad that she wanted everyone that bought her book to get it signed? Your such a no nothing loser perez.
SHE IS BUTT UGLY AND NOT FUNNY. WHO WOULD WANT TO READ ANYTHING THIS OLD HAG WROTE?
F lister. She needs to hook-up w/ Palin's grandbaby's daddy. Oops she has!
I so don't get it, she is not the least bit funny & she is very homely.
Sounds like she wanted to sign as many copies as possible instead of reading passages. Doesn't sound like bitchiness at all, sounds like she was being considerate you lard bucket!
its the norm to have to buy the book to get the autograph. and makes sense not to do a reading and try to get as many people as possible. you cant personalize hundreds or thousands of autographs in a few short hours. u just wont get to many people and the wrist band system was probably set by the store
What a travesty Perez… seriously…. People don't personalize because it takes longer and she wanted to sign everyone's book. And besides you don't want to piss off the Nicole who really spells her name Nicholle.
And they have you buy a book to be there so everyone won't come to just stare.
Not newsworthy.
I think www.wristbandfactory.com has a wristband that does not mean anything. Maybe Kathy Griffin could offer that one!
If I looked like Andy Dick, I'd be a bitch to! I'd probably spit at random strangers on the streets, just for effect…..she's so ew! Most stars get plastic surgery and look like Mickey Rourke…..she still looks like Dick!……just sayin.
Fucking Jew Bitch
i was there and basically the whole store was filled so it was a smart move for her to not read b/c there was that many people. and i also i was the last person to get a wristband that was guaranteed to get the book signed and i didnt get my signed till 845 and she was lieaving at 9, it took so long b/c she was actually smiling with everyone and then the bitch that actually worked there said no more fotos could be taken but kathy still did it anyway and she thanked each person for buying the book
I WAS THERE! I was the 250th person which meant i was the last one guaranteed to get my book signed .. instead of doing a reading which would have been boring (in my opinion) she dished on some dirt that happened earlier that day on talk shows. at first the lady from b&n said we were able to take posed pictures with her, this completely slowed everything down. an hour after waiting the lady from b&n announced that it wasnt possible for everyone to take a picture with her (which she should have realized in the first place since there was over 500 people there). the line started moving much quicker and within 10 minutes kathy signed my book. she was EXTREMELY nice .. she thanked me numerous times for buying her book and told me she really did apperciate with the economy in this state that people would spend $25 reading about her.
basically .. i think kathy did her best

basically .. i think kathy did her best and it was great!
perez - why do you have to be so negative all the time? if somebody was a fan of hers they would have came early and got a spot in line. if they couldnt do that then thats their fault dont blame it on kathy! she had no control over what was going on.
and also when i went to the chelsea handler book signing you were also required to buy the book in order to meet her
I was there and I would like to set a few things straight;
1. Kathy was right on time which was awesome and she was hilarious, she didnt do a reading but who cares she did a mini act which is better!
2. You did have to buy to book to get her to sign it (hello obvi) she was miked so anywhere in the book store you were you could hear her!
3. She was gracious and thankful for everyone who came out and for purchasing her book which was DISCOUNTED to $20 as opposed to the $25 cover value!
4. She originally was personalizing and allowing photos but it slowed the line terribly and I stood in the same spot for an hour, after they stopped that the line started to move, True I would have loved to have mine personalized but it was worth meeting her!
SOOO for $21.78 and 3 hours of my day; I got a mini Kathy Griffin stand-up, a chance to see Tiffany and Tom, an opportunity to tell Kathy about when I saw Lindsay Lohan, and a new book with an autograph! All and All I say I made out like a bandit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Perez, why is she a mega bitch yet your Kate Gosselin does the same stinkin thing and you kiss her ass????
C'mon Perez, leave her alone. I know you don't like her despite what you may claim. You only seemed to be nice to her once she approached the top rung of the ladder and now that she is a bona fide star you have to attack her.
What should she have done? maybe, she should have written paragraphs in 5 or 6 books and then shouted, "Well, it is past 9! GOODNIGHT EVERYONE!" As far as buying a book and your arrival time, as someone who understands the pressures and scrutiny, what should she have done? if you are the 1st to a concert you don't get front row seats. You MUST spend the money and get what you pay for. Do you agree with that? She did both. Good for Kathy that she treated her more loyal fans, those who arrived earliest, to more indulgent treatment!
Perez, I still appreciate how you utilize the 1st amendment and keep talking shit because, usually, I agree with you!! Just not this time
