I don't understand this at all. Umm, I have health care, because I work hard. So there is no reason for me to demand it. I don't want more of MY taxes going to pay for someone else's problems. It is MY money because I WORKED for it.

I don't have health care and i've had it all my life under my parents.
I'm now 22 with diagnosed bipolar/borderline personality and I can't afford my meds. I'm now off my meds, I'm doing alright for now, but I'm still wary about the future. Not many jobs offer insurance. My one medicine was 400 dollars for a month supply. It hurts me to see people be against the health care reform. I used to work for a big retail company and I was part-time. I had health insurance, but not a medicine plan. Which is like a smack in the face. To get the medicine plan, you had to be full time. So I asked the HR manager was there any chance that I could be made full-time because I could also benefit from the medicine plan for my medications I needed, she told me we can't hire you full time just because you need medicine. It hurt me so much to hear that. Someone who could have a heart condition or something that really needed a medicine could have been told that. And they definitely need the medicine more than me. Its such a f'ed up situation. Ppl are dying and no one really cares. Something has to be done. Thank you Perez for supporting health care reform!

For an example, Laura is currently unemployed and cannot pay for healthcare as for now, she gets ill, and she stays that way because ppl like just dont give a shit and because of her illness she cant get a job.
With the other system (that is much better) some of your dimes gives her a treatment so she can get better, and after that she can get a job and pay taxes that will revenue income so more ppl that are ill can getting care of.

I really wish blogger that are in "entertainment" would stop blogging about politics. I'd be willing to bet Perez hasn't attempted to read any part of the bill. So many gray areas in that thing. If Obama and scores of other politicians can't explain it, or understand it themselves, or justify the cost, then chances are it's going to bomb.
I really struggle to understand why so many people are against it - How can you consider yourself to be a good human being if you're against everyone having access to healthcare just because you think it will cost you more!? Fine the NHS has some issues but you can't tell me that you've never had any problems in any of your hospitals in America.
Here if you need treatment you get it, if you need medication you get it. I don't even notice the payments coming out of my wages, it's less then I pay in tax and it means that people like my brother who has just been made redundant (as lots of people are in the current economic climate) doesn't have to have sleepless nights praying that his partner and children won't get ill because any money he does have is spent on rent, bills or food.
I’m proud to live in a country where everyone is entitled to health care because the vast majority of the population who do work pay a small amount out of their wages to allow it.

I know people who are bipolar and they don't make excuses for not getting their meds! And bipolar people are notorious for making excuses so they won't have to take their meds! That's why the suicide rate is catastrophic among bipolars!
The problem I have with it is they are saying that they will pay for most of it by shuffling around money and such, Bullshit! There is no way people are going to maintain the quality of care with the same amount of money and 45-50 million people added to the system.
Let's fix what we have first by way of tort reform and trimming the vast amounts of fraud and and waste and maybe I'll consider it.

Finally something I can agree with Perez. Universal health care isn't the worst thing in the world. Many countries have been using it for years and it works! I honestly don't see what the big huff is all about. The US is the only industrialized country in the world to not have universal health care, and frankly that is a very sad statistic. I have universal health care in my country, and I'm very glad for that. I know that if I have to to go to the hospital or need surgery I wont be footed with some insane bill. And I don't mind that my tax dollars are going to help others. A good society is one that takes care of it's people.

We actually do have healthcare for all it is just that the system is messed up. It needs be about insurance reform and tort reform. A government run healthcare system would be an absolute disaster. Less care, higher costs, and rationing. That is not what America wants or needs.
Perez, as someone living in Sweden, where equal and basically free healthcare is given to EVERYONE as a basic human right, I am glad to see that you're raising your voice to support what Obama's trying to do in your country as well.

Thanks Perez for getting involved.! The idea that the greatest nation on earth has omitted a huge segment of its own population from the basic right to health care is sad. It needs to change now. The situation is dire. Not only does this run people into financial ruin (61% of all bankruptcies PRIOR to the recession cited medical bills as a main cause, of those 61%, 75% HAD health insurance!), it results in loss of life. We cannot continue to let this happen to fellow Americans while the insurance industry gets rich on our dime for providing less care.
