We recently reported that two out of the meager three woman on the Saturday Night Live roster were canned this season and replaced with two new female faces. Allegedly, one of the ladies was axed because of her weight.
Sources claim that Casey Wilson was fired from the show after having been asked to use the summer hiatus to lose 30 pounds. Whether she was unable to pull it off or told them where they could stick their show, we're unsure.
But unlike Michaela Watkins, the other axed cast member who explained she got praise from Lorne Michaels right as he showed her the door, Casey is keeping mum.
If Big Man Lorne doesn't want his cast-mates to be hefty, then why in the world is Kenan Thompson still on the show?
Answer us that one!

She didn't lose any weight, but she also didn't gain any. So why tell her to lose weight now? If she's too big for TV now, she must've been back then which in turn would beg the question why even hire her in the first place?!?

uh, noooo. She was hands down the MOST UNFUNNY bitch that was ever on that show. She put no enthusiasm in any of her characters, and delivered all her lines flatly. The show is bad enough now, but this girl is just not funny. She's not even that "tries too hard" too be funny unfunny.
This is unfortunate. I had a feeling that's why. If you look at any of the other former SNL ladies, they're all stick thin– with the exception of Molly Shannon. I thought Casey was super fun- much better than Kristen Wigg. Kristen's just awkward. Casey was funny!

Well I honestly don't think it's because she's thicker than some. Casey Wilson and Michaela Watkins weren't as funny as say, Kirsten Wiig, and all tv stations care about is ratings. And if casey and michaela aren't being funny obviously ratings won't be up as much. It's nothing weight related - obviously because Keenan is there.
This is the ugly god damn doublestandard that happens. Kenan hasn't been funny on that show in YEARS and I thought Casey was doing very well as a castmember. Whether she loses weight or not doesn't mean she'll be FUNNIER. He's had several women on that show gain 30-40 lbs in pregnancy weight and they were still hilarious. I think it's a lot harder for a pregnant woman to feign funny than a bigger woman.

Gilda Radner wrote about his giving all the male stars their own dressing rooms and her, Jane Curtain, Loreane whatsherbuckets had to share one.
