Springsteen, DeNiro and Brooks To Be Honored At Kennedy Center Gala

Bruce Springsteen,Robert Deniro and Mel Brooks have been chosen to be honored at this year's Kennedy Center Honors Gala as "extraordinary individuals whose unique and abundant artistry has contributed significantly to the cultural life of our nation and the world."
The celebration of their careers will take place in Washington D.C. at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama in attendance.
The President and his wife will also hold a reception for the honorees at the White House the day before the Gala in addition to Hillary Clinton having a dinner for the guests of honor at the State Department.
Brooks is being honored "for the hilarity of his movies and musicals," DeNiro for his "legendary commitment to his characters" and The Boss for his "gritty and honest songs that speak to the everyman."
The gala will be broadcast on December 29th on CBS.

In recent years, the selections for this honor have been uneven, and not really widely-encompassing of excellence in all of the various arts. The members of this year's group are all highly deserving and have demonstrated excellence in their fields.

Sometimes, Perez, for someone with an NYU arts degree, you can be such an uninformed twit. Maybe once in a while, shut off the DVD player from the 500th viewing of the Zac Efron shower scene in "17 Again", get out of the house and go see a concert or recital!!

mel brooks - classic comedic writer.
One of these things is not like the others … one of these things does not belong … That little ditty running through your head right now? It should be. What the F is Springsteen doing in this group??!! He can't sing, and his music blows. Congrats to the others, all VERY well deserving. I guess Bruce made the list for because the Odumba's wanted their Dem cheerleader nominated.
