According to Nielsen/Soundscan, Whitney Houston's greatly anticipated album I Look To You has debuted at #1 on several charts around the world, including US Top Albums, R&B Albums and the top spot in Canada, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.
The diva sold 304,801 units in the first week of release in the States, which marks the best selling first week sales of her career AND best selling first week by a female artist this year!

It's weird to think Music sales have slowed so much that that is the biggest number by a female this year. A few years ago groups were selling over a million CD's their first week out.

i didn't like the album but good for her. I rooted for her recovery not her failure. I know some people forget those people are still humanbeing. I say, bravo Whitney.

Has anyone listened to Whitney Houston's new album? This is suppose to be a comeback album? Not one song made me want to listen to more! She does nothing at all vocally challenging throughout the whole album. The only song I even remotely liked was Million Dollar Bill, and that's not saying a lot. She definitely is not going to win a new fan base w/ this kind of garbage coming out. VERY disappointing!

Great for Whitney. 300,000+ copies in an era when people are illegally downloading music and selling it to friends. This number of course does not include the countless copies of the album sold on major city streets around the country. In the digital age 300,000 copies sold is very good. Nothing to sneer at. She was #1 while there were many other albums released that week to choose from. Clearly people have made the choice. To the idiot that thought it was fulfilling to take her sales and compare it to the people living in the world was quite dumb seeing as a big majority of the world's population are living in 3rd world conditions and definitely not worried about buying CDs by Whitney or any other artist.

Uh…she beat out…Miley Cyrus. Big Comeback. This was supposed to be huge. Those numbers are big for a fairly new person, but not Whitney who was supposed to take back the crown. This was an easy first. She came out when no one else did. I love how people are acting like this is a surprise or something. I see the singles are still tanking. I love my girl, but she just doesn't have it anymore.
