Glee Rises While Dance Falls

Everybody loves Glee! (Well, almost.)
Over 7.3 million people tuned in to the premiere last night not only winning its hour in the ratings, but making the show the highest-rated scripted fall premiere for a new program in two years!
Suck on that, Melrose Place!
But the Fox summer favorite So You Think You Can Dance premiere didn't do so hot, down 21% from its summer premiere.
The network blames being up against Obama's speech, but we think viewers might be on Dance overload. The summer run just ended last month!

"Suck on that, Melrose Place" yourself. Just because you don't like Asslee Simpson, don't rip on Melrose. There are lots of people who like it for reasons other than your stupid prejudices. What do I think? I think that nothing compared to the President's speech last night, not even your lame-ass "Glee".
LOVED Glee - Melrose and 90210 can suck a fatty. And yes, there are too many damn dancing shows on.
I think it was a little soon, but it was also a chopped up edited version of auditions…those get boring very fast.

Well, that and a big chunk of people think watching the President deliver a major speech on health care reform is more important than watching people dance to pop music. That ballroom dancing judge lady has the most grating laugh, just had to put that out there.

After Eyebrows won last season over Brandon, I knew that my SYTYCD days were over. Luckily for me ANTM is on at 8pm-never missed a season and Glee came on at 9pm-which by the way looooooooved the show!!! Love Glee and the jokes and the singing!!!

I really loved Glee. I thought it was very original and really funny! I hope they can keep it up all season. I couldn't watch Melrose Place for more than 30 mins - Ashley was so effin awful.

I watched Glee on hulu the next day because ANTM was on same night, same time….but that's not on hulu. Glee is the shit. It's funny without trying too hard and it's got a great cast and original idea.

I DVR'd SYTYCD and Glee, got to watch Glee and then it was freaking Obama for the WHOLE SYTYCD episode. I was pissed. Would have seen it but couldn't!

I'd say the 21% drop is probably because for some reason the US didn't take into account all the canadian SYTYCD fans!! There is a SYTYCD Canada airing right now and I don't intending on watching the US until Canada's is over (too much dance watching in one week). But Glee is DEFINITELY the best show I have seen in years! It looks amazing!!!

I have zero interest in the dancing show, but was looking forward to seeing Glee. Plus there was nothing else on because of the president's very long winded speech. Back to Glee, the pilot was better than last night's episode, I hope it improves. But I'm glad it did well in the ratings.

One of the most original shows in YEARS! It's great to see that it is being rewarded by lot of viewers. I can't remember the last time I LOL throughout a whole TV show.

Look, I am 32, grew up with the ORIGINAL Melrose and Beverly Hills…I watched Melrose the other night…not horrible. I could do without Ashlee Simpson but the girl playing Ella is good bad news! Glee was insanley good…funny, ironic, sweet, pitiful, everything a teenage angst show should include. LOVE it! I dvr'ed Vampire Dairies and can't wait to check that out…either it will be awesome or so, so bad….

I watched both shows, but I agree with what you said about so you think you can dance. I watched every single episode of the summer season and I absolutely loveee lovee that show! But….I think it's way too soon to start up another round. Cause then we have to go the entire year and wait until next summer for another season. I think it's kinda dumb to have both of them back to back.. Also though I thought Glee was very funny! It was a little better than I thought…I don't know if it will stick with me though. It was a good first run but I'm not sure if it left that impression for me to add it to my list of fav shows such as oth gossip girl greys desperate housewives …those are just too good to just "add" another one that is not as worthy. loll
OMG, GLEE WAS AWESOME `:] & there's too much dance shows on tv nowadays. They've got to tone it down a bit.. but GLEE ROCKS! I haven't liked a tv seires since ugly betty premiered & that was a few years ago so GO GLEE ^^
I sooo watched STYCD! and then once that was over, I watched the 2nd hour of ANTM! STYCD will definitely pick up. Love that show!

glee is actually a great show.. its funny and has a great cast and script melrose place can suck my nuts.. nothing can touch the original i hope it gets cancelled

I tuned into Dance, but have to admit wasn't as excited about it. Normally it's been months and months since you've seen it and nothing else is on. Now Project Runway, Top Chef, Glee etc… are all on, so i'll tune into Dance, but I'm not sitting there thinking "Hey, I can't wait for that show to be back on."

So You Think You Can Dance is the greatest show ever…EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad it's back on, I have to TiVo it though b/c of work. Can't wait until the top 20, that's when it gets great!
