According to the NY Post, Ivanka Trump and her millionaire boyfriend Jared Kushner will be saying "I, Do" on Sunday, October 25th at the Trump National Golf Tournament in Bedminster, NJ.
And it will be no small wedding with 500 guests in attendance at the Orthodox Jewish ceremony.

You would think that if someone really loves, they would accept who and what the other person is and not have to convert religion to make the relationship happen. No insult to Judaism or any other religion but I just don't get this convert to future hubby's religion. You really love someone, you accept who they are 100%.

In the Jewish religion if a man were to marry a non Jewish woman then his kids would not be Jewish unless she converted. For many reasons this is important to a lot of Jews who wish to give their son or daughter a bar mitzva or be brought of as a Jew. It is not just a religion its a way of life..

Ivanka has done well for herself and is a good business woman in her own right. I just hope that her marriage is a happy one and lasts longer than her parents' union did. Her brother Donald Jnr. is happily married now and keeps a low profile, so all the best for her wedding.

Converting to judaism for marriage has nothing to do with "accepting them for who they are," it has to do with jewish law. Besides, I don't imagine you would be able to find an orthodox rabbi who would do a ceremony with a non jewish bride. If the mother is jewish, the child is jewish. Maybe this guy just didn't feel comfortable marrying someone who isn's Jewish. And Ivanka is a big girl, who made the decision to convert. So instead of blaming the spouse for wanting her to convert, maybe you should look at Ivanka, who MADE THE DECISION to do it. "Yuck" thinks that when jews and gentiles marry, the gentile always has to convert. Simply untrue. And this is the reason judaism is a dying religion. Many times, no one converts. And they raise the children with both religions, or the more dominant parent/religion wins out (more often than not, the kids are NOT brought up jewish).

The person who converts is the one who makes the final decision, its THEIR decision to make at the end of the day, no-one can force them. Anyway its very hard to convert to Judaism (one of the reasons there are so few Jews nowadays) Rabbis make it as off putting as possible to make sure that the people who do convert are not only doing it for the right reasons but also that they won't regret it later.

Conversion is a joke. Very often people convert to please the Jewish family, because it's a lot of stress for the non-Jew, they make you feel terrible if you don't, and even more they make their son (who's Jewish) feel terribly guilty foe not being a good son. My husband's Jewish, I'm not, and it's a daily struggle with my in-laws. While my family's accepting my husband for who he is and welcome him in the family, his parents reject me and only see the non Jew in me, not the person that I actually am. And they're not even religious, they just feel bad in front of their friends, it's a big fat joke, pure hypocrisy. To me that's just plain racism and intolerance. They're basically doing to me what the Jewish community has been suffering from for centuries.

I was so happy for her when she openly returned to catholicism despite what her inlaws thought, my father didnt care much but it was all his families doing and the jewish community. I have found so much intolerance in the jewish community and the more observant they are the more intolerant they appear to be. I grew up going to school with a lot of jewish kids and I love them but a lot of this is just nonsense and some of the jewish ways are so beautiful but I hate the idea of practically being forced to do something, what happened to marrying for love and a partnership.
Just because YOUR inlaws aren't accepting of you, that somehow means ALL jews are intolerant. I love stereotypes…..

I honestly don't think this is a stereotype. I know other people who are in the exact same position as me, and being married to a Jewish person, I happen to know LOTS of Jewish people. But of course there are some cool open-minded people who don't care whether their son hooks up with a non-Jew. They're just not the majority.

Jews do not like to accept every person into their religion. They accept people only IF they prove that despite all the hardships, they truly want to be Jewish. Any other conversion is not correct. If one marries a Jew, and converts FOR them, it is not complete. Jews want to keep their heritage and religion from generation to generation. Is that a crime?? SEE? My former friend in question and I had a falling out, not due to religion, but I do remember a comment her mother said to me one day, "You are such a great friend to So-and-So. And such a great influence on her. To bad you aren't Jewish." I forced a laugh, and she did not. She was NOT joking. I have NO problem with the religion or the culture. I find it beautiful and interesting. I have even been to Israel. What I don't respect is when people use their religion/culture to build a barrier to getting to know others and their religions/cultures. I think that is the true culprit in all this debate. Some, not all Jewish people isolate themselves from others to preserve their heritage, but in doing so, come across as racist to other cultures. I was blessed to be part of a Jewish wedding, where my friend learned and loved the Jewish religion and culture and has embraced it fully, and converted for all the RIGHT reasons. If converting is not for you, then never feel pressured to do so, and don't let anyone Jewish or not make you feel bad for the love you have for your Husband. Being the same religion isn't a cure all to a loving marriage. I know PLENTY of Jewish couples that have landed in divorce court.

Re: YUCK – Yuck, I would like to think that I am one of the more well rounded "shiksahs" (sp?) that knows quite about Judaism and I used to go with that same friend to a ton of their religious celebrations… but when I got to the celebrations… she was looked down upon for bringing me. I would think that after years of persecution that if a non-Jew wanted to come and learn about the religion/culture that that in and of itself would be celebrated. I felt like a door was shut in my face. I too worked for a Jewish Company and the same thing happened there. The Holidays were never discussed and asking for a Half day to go to church on Christmas Eve was frowned upon… hmmm… All I'm saying to all the proud Jewish people is know that there are people of other religions that are not close minded and would LOVE to learn about the religion/culture and heritage behind Judaism. A close family friend of mine that has now passed was a Holocaust survivor. I would never have known them if he and his wife were as close-minded as some people that I have since known.
