Maura Tierney Leaves Show To Seek Cancer Treatment

After undergoing surgery to remove a tumor in her breast, ER alum Maura Tierney must withdraw from her upcoming NBC show, Parenthood.

The series, which is based off the 1989 Steve Martin movie of the same name, will now begin mid-season after already delaying the original premiere date.

According to Maura's rep, the actress is "deeply disappointed" not to be performing on the show, and "her doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive."

The network states, "While we are saddened that Maura Tierney won't be able to continue in her current role in Parenthood, our main concern is for her quick and full recovery. Our thoughts and best wishes are with her."

Of course, God bless her and I hope her treatments go well. But why do celebs announce when they are having medical issues. My mother went through chemo twice and radiation, but she certainly never made a broadcast for attention about it. Hollywood is F'd up.
