Mushy Continues Blaming Her Wisdom Teeth
This really has to be about the worst excuse we've ever heard and she's sticking to it!
In an interview with the ladies of The View which aired earlier today, Mischa Barton spews this BS gives the following explanation for her recent hospitalization:
"I was overwhelmed. I had too much work going on. I had a surgery for my wisdom teeth that went really badly. I had been in the hospital. I had two surgeries on my wisdom teeth. I had four taken out and they had gotten it really badly wrong. They had to drill into my jaw and I was just in really excruciating pain. I had an infection and a dry socket and I woke up on a Sunday morning and there was no doctor available…I had so much work to do and the surgery had gone so badly for me. And I think that I was just starting to feel completely overwhelmed. It was just too much to have this surgery go so wrong."
Oh Mushy, you need to hire better PR people!
Surely they could have advised her to go with the tried and true "exhaustion" excuse?
But we're pretty sure your stint at the psych ward had less to do with your teeth and more to do with your hard-pAArtying ways, Mush Mush.

you don't wind up on a psych unit if you had a bad oral surgery. why doesn't she just admit she had a nervous breakdown and/or she's an addict? who gives a fuck? making these retarded excuses just makes her look even more stupid. if her p.r. people are feeding her this line of bullshit to use then she should fire them.
Depression is such a common disorder now. WHY don't people just admit it?!? I'd have so much more respect and sympathy if people like her just came out and said, "I lost it. Flat out. I was feeling depressed and overwhelmed. I'm in the public eye, so everyone was fortunate enough to witness it. I spent time in the hospital, went on quality meds and am feeling much better, thank you." Is that SO hard?

Actually, it happens. I've seen it only once. My best friend who is sober and a holistic massage therapist is 23 and got the WORST case of wisdom teeth I have ever seen. She was on anti-biotics and painkilles for almost 2 month due to impacted wisdom teeth, and being a natural type, she didn't respond well to anti-biotics well (shit, who does really?) She was bloated, tired, completely unable to work, and just plain depressed. I've never seen her like tta and now she's fine. I'm not supporting Mischa, but after seeing what my friend went through, it's possible she could be either the same or p[erhpas more succeptible due to not taking good care of herself. what the fuck is wrong with being weak, and needing nurturing in your darkest times. I looove you Perez, but sometimes I swear, you incite failure in others. is that what you want to be remembered by. you have such a light with your comedy and the causes you support. you could be so classy if you wanted to, and still kick ass at gossip, just in a less…oh…subconsioucly insecure way. esp the fat comments of celebs…when you're hardly any better. I love your light but you really are a hypocrite. you def have a few more lives to learn how to be a complete human.
I believe her story, but I also believe she was on drugs and thats what she meant by saying she hit rock bottom and when she said she realized she isnt like "those" people..meaning she realized she isnt like those trash people that just sit around spending their lives doing drugs and destructing their bodies…she finally had a wake up call because of the surgery going wrong, but she had a problem to begin with..drugs! good for her..hope shes better..she should just try and be more honest and then she can set an example for others to get healthy.
Yeah, I'm a therapist in a psych ward, and they don't keep for that long against your will when you're not actually a danger to yourself. I think a trained clinician would know the difference between who says something out of anger versus someone who is actually in psychological crisis. MB is full of shit.

oh please, I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and had an infection and a dry socket too. All needed surgery and neither of which hurt at all for me. I know some people do better with getting their teeth pulled than others, but she needs to stop complaining there's people out there with worse problems.
its not just you her voice did sound deep but I saw the interview this morning and her show about the fashion/modeling industry sounds really interesting. I will be watching. I hope her and lindsay get their act together.

listen I have a friend that was in this very situation not with drug use or drinking but just her life seemed at the moment like it was ending so she tried to off herself with pills she had never taken before, when the suicide didnt take she was driven to the ER by her neighbor while in the ER she told the doc, I wish I were dead and I that she had tried to kill herself by law she had to be admitted to a pshyc ward for 72 hours, while at the psych ward they tried to give her hard psychotropic drugs to calm her and the other crazies down. but more drugs isnt the solution to everything.

I know this person and she wasnt crazy, she was just going through a rough patch. her life is back on track now without any depression meds. some people might really need those meds but not everyone does and this healthcare system keeps trying to shove every type of pill down our throats in an effort to get us addicted and make money…at our expense.

Couldn't see the vid in Canada, but I had dry socket after all four were removed and I was literally seeing stars for two weeks it hurt that bad. I was given Percocets and that didn't even budge the pain. It was hell!

I spent three weeks in a psych ward when I was about her age. Maybe not something I open with when I meet new ppl, and I've never discussed it with anyone I work with, but it's nothing to be embarrassed about. No one I've told have reacted badly. It happens. I'm still on medication, almost 10 years later, because when I go off it, I get sick again, but otherwise it's really not an issue. Mischa should get over her self. She's making a bigger deal out of this than anyone else, it's so unnecessary. If she had been honest from the beginning, ppl would let it go sooner

I am a Dental Assistant and this is the worst excuse I have ever heard! People get their wisdom teeth out all the time. I am not saying no one ever has a bad experience or experienced some discomfort….There are soooo many things wrong with this
1. People get 4 wisdom teeth out a lot it's not uncommon
2. Drilling into people's jaw is totally normal and is necessary especially if the teeth are impacted
3. Dry sockets SUCK and hurt but if you have a nervous breakdown because of that then you were already really unstable
4. What celebrity even a Z-List one at that can't find some sort of Doctor or Dentist even on a Sunday
5. Lastly this girl is always high on something so does she really expect us to believe that she doesn't already have every pain killer/drug available in her hotel room:)

Re: Hayworth Honey – Let me say something. A few years ago,my younger sister got wisdom teeth pulled. She woke up in awful pain. The dentist didn't seem too worried. She went home and 2 hours later,she ended up at the E.R. They x-rayed her jaw and discovered that she had had an impacted wisdom tooth and the dentist had FRACTURED her jaw,while trying to remove it.
The point is,I believe Mischa's story. Why can't some of you give her the benefit of the doubt? Shit happens.

As someone who had a really bad wisdom tooth surgery I know what it's like. My face swelled up to about the size of a basketball and I literally was almost in shock that night. I was vomiting and had the chills and the pain was unbearable. I had to miss ten days of work. That said. I did not have to be driven to a psych unit by the police for a 5150 hold So I don't believe her.

Re: YUCK – Dry sockets are when the blood clots which form after oral surgery are dislodged/lost and so there's nothing protecting the socket anymore and food/bacteria get in there and cause an infection. It's really painful…we have to put a dressing in the socket for it to heal properly. It's also common in people who smoke. Basically dry socket=infection=pain!
When she was hospitolized, and she says" I'm nothing like these people" that is a sure fire sign that she is in denial and will relapse. She's only drying out! It would be so much healthier to say, "yes, this happened to me" It happens. She thinks by lying , it doesn't really exist.The truth is a normal person can handle a situation so much better, where a almost over the edge partier, will surly crack at any sign of pressure.
I love you Perez but I am a Paramedic. I watched a 25 year old mother die after having her wisdom teeth removed. She was a smoker so they became inflamed and infected. The infection spread to her brain because she didn't get on antibiotics in time. She died in front of her children. Mischa Barton is a smoker. It is a stupid thing to do and the dentist will tell you not to smoke post-op but many people still do it. I think it is possible she had a real illness. You should retract this because you don't know the specifics of her case.
I believe she was and is in pain.
But still. She should QUIT yapping.

As a dental technician, not asst., I've rarely seen 4 wisdom teeth badly impacted (I'm assuming that's what she means) removed at the same time. Things can go wrong in any operation, but this is truly a LAME excuse. As I'm sure that it hurt, they would've made sure the top (or bottom) were okay before proceeding with another 2 teeth. That's serious business removing those. Especially a richy chick like her…

i am a clinical social worker and have had to put patients on a 5150 (legal hold) often for suicidality. she is completely minimizing. no professional would hospitalize someone for making passive comments about wishing they weren't alive anymore b/c of some mouth pain. it takes much more than that.

I know every person is different but ive had four wisdom teeth taken out and got dry socket…yes it is completely miserable and had to take antibiotics but they gave me wonderful pain meds as well…scheduling work post-surg not so smart…i do feel for her but she must of had alot of stress built up presurgery

She just got caught up in the Hollywood scene like every other young starlet her age…(Lindsay, Nicole, Brit…need I go on?) But yeah, not buying this whatsoever. The fact that she emphasizes TWICE that she "didn't want to take the painkillers" only proves that she did. I can spot lies because I've lived the life of an addict from the age of 18-23, on OxyContin myself. Not to mention…her body language clearly indicates she's lying. When she first starts talking to Sherri Shepherd (sp?) she not only puts her hand on her face, but a good deal of the time she's not looking at her (or the audience). Then she plays with her hair a lot. That's a sign of nervousness because you know you're lying. Mischa, you're an actress! I can do better than that while I'm lying!

When you've had teeth removed, you aren's supposed to SUCK on anything because the 'plug' will pop out and you'll get drysocket. I hear it freaking hurts.

I believe it. I had a root canal and they said not to smoke for a week or it will lead to a dry socket. We all know she smokes. I smoke pot and mine let to an abscess and my face swelled up like a chipmunk. Its rare but it happens. It was actually the dentist fault for lack of removing the bacteria.

I kinda believe what Misha is saying. She's talking about her wisdom teeth surgery b/c she was prescribed opiates as painkillers. It's not a secret that Misha has addiction issues & having that surgery was risky. She was trying 2 take the medication 'as directed' but they weren't working, cuz she's built up a tolerance 2 opiates, that takes a long time 2 go away. She was trying to manage her pain w/o taking 2 many pain pills, so they had 2 give her novacaine. With the traveling & her upcoming show, which she knows is her 'make or break moment' for her career, it was all just 2 stressful. She was trying to round-about explain that she had a 'mental breakdown' which was why she was placed into the psychiatric hospital. At least she got help, so good 4 her!! And, during her interview, she looked great, was mentally present, sounded good, and is moving forward. You can't knock her for that!!
I had my wisdom teeth taken out on April 10th and two days later I had FOUR dry sockets while I was still in school. My meds did not work because of the pain, so unless they were giving her morphine or some crazy shit I really don't believe her story. Yes, I was in a lot of pain, to where music was hurting my mouth, but I did not end up in a psych ward. Oh yeah, they also had to drill into my jaw to break one of the tooths (is that right?) so she needs to shut the fuck up and just admit that she had a drug problem!!!!!

Oh yeah, I need to add that I did everything by the books. I don't smoke so I didn't think that I would get dry sockets, but I still did. Also, when you go back to the dentist they put this medicated packing on your sockets to help ease the pain (and oh my God does it) so a person can go through out the day with out the pain. I don't know what they did for her, but if she's telling the truth she would know that.

Those of you that say Misha needs 2 admit she has a 'drug problem' are IGNORANT. It is known that Misha has struggled w/addiction issues including opiates. Having 2 have a surgery was risky b/c she was prescribed opiates as her pain meds. She was trying 2 take them 'as directed' but they weren't working, cuz opiate addicts can build their tolerance back VERY QUICKLY. She started 2 abuse her meds, & became physically dependent, b/c once an opiate addict.. always an addict. So, she was given novacaine shots instead, felt overwhelmed, had became physically dependent on her pain meds & needed help. WHICH SHE GOT!! SHE DOESN'T NEED 2 GO INTO THE DETAILS… READ BETWEEN THE LINES!! Plus, she's got a new show coming up, so why are her PR people or Ashton Kutcher gonna want her 2 go on a tangent about her stint in the hospital?!! IS THAT GONNA HELP HER REP OR THE SHOW?? I'm guessing Perez has never had his wisdom teeth removed. there are so many things related to getting them out that could cause problems, the surgery, the pills, the not eating normally and getting the recommended nutriets.
probably more people need to go to the psych ward but don't cause they don't have the resources.
a slap in the face is probably like .01 percent of the pain due to a wisdom tooth extraction
