Nirvana Band Members Weigh In On Guitar Hero 5

Activision better get to work because no one is happy with the representation of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain on the newly released Guitar Hero 5.
After Courtney Love threatened to sue the game's publisher over the disrespectful avatar, Nirvana band members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl released a joint statement on Thursday regarding the image.
They said:
"While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future."
We smell another lawsuit trouble!

there's a part of me that does not have a problem with curt cobain being in or being played in GH i think that would be cool. the problem that i do have is him playing bon jovi. that is so fucking stupid. you would think if he is to be in the game he should only be allowed to play his songs only. i cant believe its not that way anyway.

I just find this so amusing. I work for the company that made the Wii version of this game, and this is just seriously, dumb. Activision was given the rights to Kurt's image, and NOW people want to be like…. " Oh yeah, no , we don't want him to be in the game anymore". I don't care if Kurt hated being a celebrity and the like, there is nothing particularly great about this man. his music was mediocre at best, and if he wanted to not be a celebrity he should not have sold his music off and signed to a record label. Thats what happens when you're in bands that play gigs. You gain some sort of popularity, small or large. People need to get over this, it's just a video game. You get to play as a person you may love, who cares whose songs he's signing. Why are people not crying fowl for other unlock able celebrity characters?

Honestly- Guitar hero has been around for how long? Kurt Cobain wasn't the first unlockable character. They didn't suddenly pull a fast one. Why is Kurt Cobain so much more important than Jimi Hendrix or Johnny Cash- 2 other deceased musicians in the franchise? If there was an issue- the skank shouldnotve agreed to let them use his image.

The man wanted to die, and as stated above, if he really cared about himself or his image he would not have grabed the shotgun on the day he did. The point of the matter is everyone who was legally required too signed off on allowing his image to be used. This is a rediculous thing to argue over, when legally, all the tracks were covered. If they didnt want his image used, or thought it would be tarnished in any way they should not have signed his image rights away. And, there are musicians that are much,MUCH better than Nirvana. They were and are not one of the best bands to ever grace this earth, and i wish people would finally realize this.
