Desperate Housewives Actress Diagnosed With Lung Cancer

Oh no!
Desperate Housewives actress, Kathryn Joosten, who plays neighbor Mrs. McCluskey, has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
She was first diagnosed back in 2001 with the same cancer, but won.
Unfortunately, it's come back.
When the two-time Emmy winner found out the news, she was "devastated", but she's ready to fight back.
And those over on Wisteria Lane are being very supportive during this difficult time.
The 69 year old actress wants to be more active and speak about battling the cancer. "To get back in control, I have to attack. I have to make this something that I can have an effect on".
It's great to see her staying so positive despite the situation!

MACROBIOTIC diet!!!!!!!! Adapt, change, do everything you can to fight cancer. My mom at 69 just got breast cancer and it runs in our family and I'm so proud of her because she's changing the way she's eating COMPLETELY!! It's not just genetic people you have to care about what the hell you're feeding your body with! It's all about "eating clean"…no processed crap, low fat and low sugar too! Organic, lots of veg. You get used to it and like eating that way eventually! Macrobiotic eating stemmed from Asia and it's keeps your body ph and everything an environment where cancer won't grow. Very interesting. Read book "The China Study"… we're giving ourselves cancer! Wake up people. Hopefully she revamped her life because better to eat healthy then DIE!

Kathryn is a wonderful actress. So said to battle cancer a second time. My prayers go out to her in her ongoing struggle.
Smoking does kill, BUT cancer is caused by many things and NEGATIVE comments do NOT help in any way!!!!! No one deserves lung cancer! No one deserves cancer! We need funding, research, advocacy and obviously KNOWLEDGE, as people still think that smoking is the only way you can get lung cancer…you are WRONG! I applaud Kathryn for standing up and speaking out. She WILL beat this and I hope it is a speedy recovery. Love your style Kathy!

Gosh Swayze yesterday and I was told that a friend of mine should be gone before weeks end. Poor woman. Cancer is such a horrible disease for the victim and the people who have to watch their loved ones suffer.
That is so sad! I love her, she is such a good actress!

Re: Tinalouise – Good point! First of all, she was vegan but that doesn't mean she ate the "macrobiotic" diet. The way she ate was better then most but the diet won't insure you don't get cancer. But it's one "variable" that helps keep your body working correctly. Just like not all smokers get lung cancer, some live to be 99, but as a rule, it can cause cancer more then not. I'm not saying eat this way and you're guaranteed, but my Japanese sister in law is all about pushing this macrobiotic diet on us and I'm taking it seriously because Japan has the lowest rates of cancer. It's about lots of ORGANIC vegies, low fat, low sugar, and if you eat meat, lean and organic but veggie protein and fish are BETTER. So just saying. Think about the crap us americans have been eating, and I'm sure know people in their 30's and 40's who have gotten cancer now.

I love her! She's my favorite on Desperate Housewives. I loved the dynamic duo last year; Kathryn and Lilly Tomlin. I'm hoping she can beat this thing like she did back in 2001.

When it comes back..it totally takes over. I was close with Tammy Faye who had the same thing and also Yma Sumac and my grandmother. What a tragedy. This woman was a very important part of the show. She was great in the cast.
