President Obama is continuing his media tour to state his case on revitalizing healthcare with appearances on Meet the Press, This Week, Face the Nation, State of the Union AND Late Show with David Letterman which he'll stop by on Monday.
One of these things is not like the other!
Although the President has been on Letterman's show five times before, it's his first visit since taking office - and the first appearance of a sitting president on the show!!!
Somehow, we're sure Conan O'Brien is hating Letterman right about now.

This President has to stop appearing on all these shows. Have any of you supporting his health care agenda READ THE 1000+ PAGES??? Have you listened to all sides of the arguements?????? Healthcare should not need over 1000 pages. over 1trillion dollars on estimated money. Yes, we need reform, but lawyers should not be written into it, health care proxies, why is that written in? (Dr. and Hospitals cover it now). The more laws, the more big brother and the more towards communism we become. Charging people if they don't get insurance? If he feels that he can find 90 billion in WASTE to pay for this, why isn't he already????? because it is an estimate, it is cuts and you would need many, many people and offices to do it, AT A COST. AND THAT IS MEDICARE AND MEDICAID HE IS TALKING ABOUT, NOT PRIVATE INSURANCE, because that is not the govt's to take. and he wants to model it after medicaid, a govt. comp. that went bankrupt and takes a YEAR to pay doctors. AND WE HAVE A SHORTAGE OF DOCTORS AND NURSES as it is, where is the help to encourage more in the field that will be needed if everyone is going to go to the DR. now? I left NURSING. It is nuts. The pay is not worth the work, the exposure to diseases and the injuries I suffered and constant stress. Drs., their pay goes down every year due to malpact. ins. and amt. ins. pay. GOVT. can not control this.

He said he will use Massachusetts a model for health care reform. Well I live in MA and people are forced to carry health care and the health insurance companies here are seriously cutting benefits to it's members in order to cover everyone. The citizen's of MA are now paying a lot more out of pocket. I'm all for healthcare reform (I don't understand how most other countries including poor ones manage to provide it) but it needs to be presented truthfully. Obama says it will not cost a dime but has no explanation of how it will be paid for and has not presented a bill that does not require increased spending

I don't think he should do Letterman. i love Obama, yet I can't take another speech. the last one was great, but Bush gave a lot of speeches, nobody cared. It's the media who is covering so much. He is not doing what no other President has done. Funny, look on Youtube and see all the Bush and previous president speeches. And most of those rednecks can't even tell you what a President does.

Perhaps instead of running around the country attempting to SELL his healthcare plan to the American public, he should consider utilizing the internet to present his plan to the public, along with the options presented to others, and allow the American public to respond to parts that they agree or disagree with, along with appropriate, intelligent comments and suggestions. Then, the healthcare plan could be written based on what the people actually want or don't want. After all, all elected officials, from the bottom all the way to the top, were elected to represent the people, not to decide what is "best for us" with absolutely no regard or input from the people. With the power of the internet, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that we cannot have input into this healthcare debate. In fact, given the power of the internet, we should be able to vote ourselves, instead of allowing partisan politicians to decide for us.

But it would appear that many do not welcome a rational discussion of the issue anyway, so why not take it to late night TV with it's sound bites and one liners? This may be all anyone is willing to pay attention to. I find it odd that in your posts criticizing his campaign you complain that he ran on slogans. Are you claiming that Sen. McCain did not? Show me one politician who won an election without slogans. If McCain had won he would have been forced to spend just as much to prop up our failing economic infrastructure as Obama. The economic stimulus package was engineered by the Bush administration and Sen. MCain supported it. He only abandoned it when it became politically expedient to do so. I always thought whoever won the election would be the real loser. Perhaps Sen. McCain knew this as well when he chose Gov. Palin as running mate, guaranteeing he would lose. Frankly, I would have preferred Hilary Clinton, if only because she has had a chance to learn from the many mistakes of her husband's administration. But none of them posess magical powers, which is what would be required to turn things around in less than a year.
