So You Think You Can Dance Hires A New Judge - Can You Guess Who It Is?

Nope! Wrong!
We know you were thinking it was going to be Paula Abdul, and frankly we're a little surprised it isn't, but actually long time friend, guest host, and director/choreographer of the show Adam Shankman will become a permanent fixture at the judges table this season of So You Think You Can Dance.
He seems to be a perfect fit alongside the other old-timers on the judges panel, but what about our Abdrool? Is there a place for her? Nigel Lythgoe, judge and executive producer, says yes - but only for a little while:
"We'll have an empty chair and that empty chair can be filled, I hope one day, by Paula Abdul and by lots of other people…The trouble is, the minute you pull four judges like American Idol, you're just opening up the program and not dealing with what you should be dealing with, which is the talent."
We kind of agree with you there. We don't think last year, or this year with so many judges is going to work out.
But congrats to Adam. We think he'll do fine.

Paula can dance better than she can sing, so why wouldn't she be a great judge?
She just needs to lay off the prescription drugs during the 1st season.
After she proves herself, she can go back to popping Xanex and Perocet.
Love Adam Shankman! Seems to have such an open mind to all different types of talent…and he's funny!

I like him! He gets super emotional because he just adoooores dancing. It's very special to see. Yay! But I hope Paula gets something soon
I think Paula Abdul has enough money to retire… I think you should start focusing on getting MIDDLE AMERICA jobs instead of people who already have MILLIONS.

thats how paula lost this gig, by blabbing her trap too soon.
I think it would be unwise NOT to hire Ms. Abdul.
Afterall, wasn't/isn't she a choreographer, even better, she was the late Michael Jackson's choreographer for his musicvideo "thriller", she also taught him the famous moonwalk (or so the media told us).
If they want somebody with lots and lots of real experience in dancing, she would be the best choice yet.
i think adam's great!! he'll be an awesome new addition. paula's kinda annoying.
get rid of mary murphy. she barely understands different types of dance other than her own. Paula has an extensive background in dance.

YAY!!!! I absolutely LOVE Adam on SYTYCD!! He is so funny and fun and fresh. Paula would lonly bring the show down as she did with AI. It's definetley NOT the show for her to be. Adam is the best though and am ecstatic that he will be on for good.

Re: flor_hoorebeke – Good god no! Did you actually SEE the mess that was her supposed routine on AI??? It was the WORST dance routine EVER! She does not have the talent to be on this show at all. She's over and done with. Can't sing, dancing is even worse and personality is just flippin crazy. Nope, not good for anything other than obscurity at this point.
Paula would have been a much better choice for that program….

Re: insertsobriquet – I think they will still do that. its what he was talking about with the whole 4 judge panel. He is my fave along with Mia for judges. Wish they woudl get rid of Mary….she's just flippin annoying. lol….

SOOOO HAPPPYYY!!! i love adam! he is hilarious and has SUCH a passion for dance. he gets really emotional and you can tell he really cares for the dancers. im really happy paula isnt going to be a judge.

I love love love Adam Shankman and am always wishing for more of him on the show, but I also love hearing from different choreographers each week, so I guess I have mixed feelings!
Adam is great… but I will miss Mia and Debbie Allen.
