   I am the adoptive parent of two boys and it always bothered me when people went outside the U.S. to adopt. However I changed my mind on the subject. There are to many children all over the world that need love and care. If one more child is saved then I say great. Best wishes to the new family. What a sweet little face on her.

   Re: Rotor Rooter – It's understandable that you think that Americans should adopt americans - there's just one problem with that: in America, there are approximately 100 families wanting to adopt each "available" child. There are plenty of needy children in America but none of them are actually up for adoption because their selfish birth parents won't do what's best for the child.
   The international adoption process is extremely difficult, we tried through Russia and Romania for five years before giving up. It is so heartbreaking to see all those children in orphanges and know that the government won't let them have a better life. Asia is better set up for adoption. Katherine obviously did her research.
   Please stop telling americans to adopt locally - it is a virtually impossible task. It would also be unwise for a celeb couple to adopt from an american birth mother - look at the fiasco that the birth mother caused for tom cruise and nicole kidman.

   Look, I am all for adoption and it's great to help the other countries population problems, etc. But going overseas is the chic thing to do now. An Asian baby is not an accessory. Now cute fluffy little arm dogs is another story.

    Why can't celebrities adopt children from their own country? There's loads of American orphans who need a loving home, so why take a child away from its culture? If a Korean wanted to adopt an American child, the government wouldn't let it happen. Gah, these ignorant celebs drive me nuts.

    A lot of you obviously don't know how hard it is to adopt an American baby!! Yes, there are much older kids and kids with severe special needs available and it would be extremely wonderful to adopt those kids…but truthfully, is everyone equipped for that? And people don't realize that it is very difficult for a white couple to adopt an African American child as authorities greatly prefer to put them with other black families. The waiting lists for American babies in good health are many years long.

    In addition to my last comment…I know this as have friends who have adopted–white friends who tried very hard for a beautiful little black baby (well, they didn't care about race–they tried hard to adopt any baby). There were so many hurdles and they eventually did get one sweet little crack addicted 1 year old african american who is thankfully doing well now (now 2nd grade). They went through the foster system after that and lots of heartbreak when the second child had to go back to her terrible birth mom…eventually they adopted two more daughters from Ethiopia. Most white families would be very happy to adopt an African American child but it is not so easy!!

    why does it matter where the baby came from? the whole point is that now there is one less child who will be subject to a life with out a family.
    we should be happy for that, not criticizing the personal motives of the parents for adopting from a foreign country, whatever they may be. human beings are all equal and that includes children, so whether or not the child is from the US is irrelevant, the point is the child was in need. these parents had the means to help someone so they did.     Years ago someone in my family adopted from korean, it did not work out very well, he felt so different from the rest of the family and had so many problems all is good when its a baby but trust me there will be problems when or if they have biological children.

    I have had a friend try to adopt here in the u.s. it is near to impossible to get a healthy baby that isn't recovering from drug addiction or special needs. I believe it is also easier overseas without as much interference or paperwork.

Parents with emotional and addiction problems are likely to have children with the same, the same is also true with IQ this is genetically passed down as well.     The children available in America or older, "special needs" or "black". No one seems to want them much, not just celebrities.
    Foreign adoptions are available to rich westerners; if you don't have a lot of money, you need a little patience. Then you can get a cute, healthy, 6 month old baby. Especially girls from some parts of Asia, no one seems to want them much there.

To adopt a child, that says alot about a persons heart… So many stars spend crazy amounts of money trying to get pregnant in "labs" or getting other women to carry babies for them or getting sperm frozen so they can use it later… all the while so many children are in need of adoption. As for "pimping out" photos of the baby; she is a celebrity and people are curious to see her new addition.
