Hooks up for a movie that is!

Oprah Winfrey is set to collaborate with director Sam Mendes and Focus Features on a film adaptation of the Joseph O'Neill novel Netherland.

The story takes place in "New York City, where a lonely Dutch expatriate becomes drawn to the sport of cricket and forms an unlikely bond to immigrant culture."

Wonder if there's a place to stick Kate Winslet into this?

Either way, with Oprah attached to the project, we think it'll do fairly well.

I find this hard to believe as producers/editors/suits etc will NOT allow non-American cultural/sporting themes past the gate eg: an Australian teen novel was picked up for publishing in the U.S. (lucky author) but the editors insisted that the rugby union references be changed to GRIDIRON whilst keeping it based in Oz. We don't play gridiron. America will not produce a movie about cricket. It will end up being about baseball.

I hope she is acting in it this time and not just producing. If Oprah wasn't "Oprah" she would have been a great movie star. For the limited acting she has done, she has been brilliant. I know she wants to act, but people won't give her the chance because she is OPRAH.

The Color Purple is the only movie that she was worth watching. She is a very annoying. No wonder that Steadman hasn't married her. She would, more than likely, be a bigger BRIDEZILLA that Star Jones was. I can't stand her or anyone she endorses, another words, the WORST president in American history, "Osama Obama".
