Adoption Still Possible For Elton John

Earlier this week, Elton John was told he could not adopt an adorable tot from Ukraine due to a number of the country's legal reasons.
But, there may be hope! Kind of.
Ukraine's family, youth and sports minister, Yuri Pavlenko has had a slight change of heart regarding the adoption of 14 month old Lev.
On Thursday, Pavlenk said that Elton "has the right and opportunity to invite the family of this boy to visit him, take them under his guardianship and help him grow into a good person."
So Ukraine won't let Elton and partner David Furnish legally adopt him, but they'll let them financially take care of the child under a "guardianship"?
That doesn't seem completely fair, but we know Elton and David would be able to give Lev a better life.
Even if Elton agrees to the guardianship, he's still likely to face opposition with any attempt at caring for the boy because of the country's Orthodox and Catholic churches view on gay adoption.
Sad.

So now Elton has to adopt the WHOLE FAMILY of this boy? Or, excuse me…serve as a guardian to the boy, his mother, and his brother? Why would he want this boy's whole family living under his roof? And all of them have HIV. If Elton goes for this then he has some kind of saintly nature b/c most people would not want to be a guardian for a small boy, his brother, AND his grown mother. Weird.
I know why doesn't he do what MJ did and just pay some surragates, problem solved, case closed
My heart is over-joyed!! I KNOW that this child will be blessed. "Guardian-ship" is something that is expressed in many different ways in many different cultures. Maybe Elton is thinking of paying for nice retirement care for older relatives; education for some others; and it is also possible that the Ukraine Government is SHOWING the rest of the world an excellent example of a supportive and wonderful adoption.
As this child grows up, he will realize that he was involved in a wonderful experience of a "family" sharing their love, guidance and wealth. And he will love his "daddies" even more because they gave opportunities not just to him, but to others he was "love" connected to.
If you need some help after the little "motor" boy settles in, just call Super-Gran. I still advise you to adopt the child he is attached to. Not what you were expecting, but I AM BACKING YOU!! Have no fear Gonzo, the rats are coming out of hiding……
WE all love you Elton John. I will continue to support the Ukraine Government in their efforts to "make this work" for all involved.

It wasn't "For a Number of Leagal Reasons" it was because Ukraine said that a civil partnership wasn't the same as a marriage and adoptive parents had to be married. and Britain only allows gays a civil partnership.

On the local news here in San Diego, they said that the Ukranian boy is HIV Positive. Sad if it's really true.
I don't understand why foreign adoption is so difficult. The time and money involved are off the chart. I think it's better for a child to be raised in a loving home than in an orphanage. I think if an older parent is involved perhaps a physical might be in order to make sure they're in a good state of health and able to raise the child. Other than that, people should be encouraged to look within their own country for foster children or children to adopt. In the U.S. alone, 500,000 children are in the foster care system, and 100,000 of them will never be adopted into a loving family and will age out of the system at age 18 to live life on their own. Sad.
It's not sad, rules are there for a reason. It's just sickening that celebrities feel like they can walk into a country these days and pick out a child at random while 'normal' people generally wait for years to have their adoption processed. You keep bringing up the gay issue Mario, but the fact is Elton is fucking 62 years old!! There is an age limit on adoption in ALL countries around the world. Stop making this a fucking gay issue.

And what about Lev's siblings (he has one brother also in the orphanage)? I'm glad this adoption didn't go through because siblings should never be separated and Elton was not planning to adopt Lev's brother.
