The Making Of Janet Jackson’s Video Music Award Tribute Performance To Premiere On MTV

We thought it was one of most befitting tributes to Michael Jackson to date, when his sister, Janet Jackson, took to the stage last Sunday for the MTV VMAs and performed their hit Scream. The routine featured Janet dancing in-sync with the original footage of Michael from the music video.
Now, on Saturday, the network will broadcast an in-depth look at how the performance was conceived.
The Making Of Janet Jackson’s Video Music Award Tribute Performance will give a behind the scenes look at Janet's performance "from the first day of rehearsals in Los Angeles, CA to show day when Janet and her team of choreographers took to the stage for the performance of a lifetime, where they recreated one of the most unforgettable music videos ever, Scream."
The show airs on Saturday on at 12:30PM ET/PT, so if you have a life, try and TIVO it.

Janet only danced like 1 minute! It was a nice tribute, but she should have had more time, more than Madonna.
PS I looove Janet, but seeing her dancing with Michael at the background, made me realise that Michael really was the best dancer, she even skipt one difficult part that Michael did, and Michaels moves are smoother.
SHE'S STill on ofthe best female dancers though!

Re: Amsterdamgirl – In the original video Janet more than holds her own. I think due to the circumstances she was likely emotional and her performance was affected by that. I so wish she had been more involved in the performance though, I kept waiting for her to come out and when she did it was over before it started.

ESPECIALLY MTV, they should have done a bigger tribute (not just 15 minutes in the beginning), if it wasn't for MJ, they would not be as big as thet are now……remember MJ put MTV on the map when they debuted Thriller. They only played ”white rock musisc”…

No. Her dancing was mediocre. And might I just ask how much more are they going to bite off of Micheal's death? It's absurdly morbid at this point.
altho i am mad at how fake mtv is acting now because i could have sworn they were the ones making fun of him when he was the one that made that shitty ass network i will watch it. i havent really heard janet talk about her brother to much so it will be interesting to see what she was going through while tryin to make this tribute
and she didnt dance that long because un like most of the artist that performed she only had like a couple of months and im sure she was still hurtin from his death its not that easy
R.I.P. MJ, but the performance was okay. It was not good enough for me to want to watch a special look at how it went through. Sorry.

I don't like the way Janet and MJ looked so angry when performing. Their dance moves are all so violent to their bodies they're disturbing to watch. I prefer art/artists to bring joy, I can get negative emotions on my own.

Well they were really angry at the media. And the song was called SCREAM….what else do you expect…. "Stop pressuring me, Stop pressuring me” was something they really meant and screamed it.
The song is awesome, and the video is on of the bests ever made after Thriller….
Re: wildstorm – I think the reason is more that Janet was in her twenties when she made Scream and is now in her forties. She's not in the same shape now as she was then so she can't dance as well anymore.
I watched this because I thought it was going to be really touching. I mean, it was really sweet that his sister did this in his memory…but I just was not impressed by it. She barely danced at all, at times her moves were off from the ones on the screen (when they were obviously supposed to be in sync), and can anyone tell me why the hell she was wearing a mic when she clearly wasn't singing?
She was sooooooo awesome at the VMA .. so exciting!! She's still got it.!
Re: Amsterdamgirl – In the video, Janet does the choreography she during the tribute during the time that you say Janet missed a difficult part that Michael did. Re: tasha – Janet was 28 or 29 when the video was filmed. So it's really only 10ish years since she did the video. But in those 10ish years her weight has also yo-yo-ed from what she was back then which also fatigues some people even after they lose the weight.
I can never get sick of the tributes. Talented artists and performers like Michael are very rare and I enjoy watching them. I love Janet too, she is talented in her own right and she had a close bond with her brother.

I have always been a HUGE fan of JJ until I saw this and now I understand why her concerts are duds. This looks like a tossaway from 83. NO, I won't watch this. It sucked the first time around. She looks like a turd with a bad wig.

not to be mean but her performance sucked….i saw this girl for rhythm nation now that was performing but that was a looooong time ago back when she was not always singing about sex and being half naked all the time….it was a nice thought though
THESE TRIBUTES are played out already. Come on–get real. Everyone had considered him a child molesting freak for YEARS before his death. Now they all adore him since he has died? People should be celebrated when they are ALIVE.
Oh People need to STFU on here. She did not lip-synched if you watch it over and over again you will see that she didn't IDIOTS, when has Janet lip-synched in her life??? It was a short performance, I agree but I understand that the night was for Michael and they are both Superstars in their own right and people paid more attention to him than the back-up dancers on it when it was aired, but if she had dance throughout the entire tribute, people would find it hard to focus on both of them, plus I would think that Janet doesn't normally dance to Michael's moves, so she would have to learn all that in a short period when she is mourning and knowing that she is also a perfectionist at heart. Madonna speech was not self-absorbed people, get a grip. Yes Janet did not do a challenging part in the dance but so did some of the other choreographers - go to YouTube to see different angles LIVE by someone who was at the VMA's, I believe only 3 of them did the spin, one who is M.J.'s choreographer throughout his career etc. I can't wait to see the making of it. Just leave her alone. Janet is the QUEEN OF POP and F those who think she tries to be like Mike, I guess you guys are not fans to know that it is not true. Maybe Madonna tries to be like Michael and mimic her as well in a friendly competition but not Janet, she is original. And yes I like Madonna as well.

Yes I notice that shit and I was laughing about it, so now I wonder if it was her mistake because I saw that she was pissed when she made it or was it just because people were complaining that she made a booboo. I have the original on tape so they are full of it. Plus I check out YOUTUBE and there was someone who posted another view of the show and there were plenty of choreographers except for M.J.'s main choreographer and a couple more, who made the same mistake or did not complete it like she did. That was so funny when I saw it on Youtube, but who cares, it adds character.
Re: tasha – No Janet was in her 30's when the video was made and it was just a mishap … people need to just leave her alone. Go to Youtube to see a different angle …. there were several choreographers who made the same mistake, including her main choreographer. The reason why Scream was so expensive was b/c they brought in their own people b/c they have a dif. style of dancing, Janet's is mostly heavy, while Michael can go from soft to heavy. So their own people helped with choreography including the ones who danced that night at the tribute. People just need to let this be. I don't see Madonna's none dancing ass getting so much grief, but still she is the Queen of Pop b/c of record sales and tour sell-outs. Janet is the hardest working female pop icon. And yes, I love Madonna's music, have all her CD's, but I don't think she deserves the title.
Re: isabellatrix – She was not lip-singing. Listen to the original and play the damn video over and over again and you will see that she was not lip-singing. I thought she was too until I watched it a second and third time. Janet is not that disrespectful to her fans like some of the other artist out here now.

Janet's performance was fire!!!!! Michael was the best dancer, and that sequence with Janet and Michael dancing together via video and live performance was on point!!! That must have been a difficult and I would like to see the haters try and do it…. Janet is Queen of Dance and nobody can touch her moves!!!!!
