Although he denies being a member, most people don't give that kind of $$$$ to any ol' cult religion.
According to a 2008 tax filing, Will Smith and his wife, Jada, donated $70,000 to Scientology groups in 2008 via his Will Smith Foundation - $60,000 to the World Literacy Crusade and ABLE International.
This comes after undergoing criticism for using Scientology teaching methods at his Southern California private school, The New Village Leadership Academy. The Smiths even replaced the school's headmaster for another who happened to have completed Scientology classes.
Pretty suspicious!
Will, who once claimed that the sect founded by L. Ron Hubbard, “is 98% like the Bible” donated a total of $122,000 to Scientology groups last year!
And Smith previously stated, “You have people who are attacking and want to fight. And don’t know nothing. How you gonna not know nothing about Scientology and attack somebody? It’s dangerous and it’s ignorant. And as an American I’m not gonna be a part of that.”

It's too bad that you haven't done a whole lot of research into Scientology, Alice. Donating to them is like donating to Charles Manson or to Jimmy Jones - only one person is going to keep it.
Its great that Mr. Smith is such a charitable guy, but you simply can't judge a person with exactly HOW MANY organizations he donates to, or even how much. When it comes down to it, it's who and what the money is going to. Sadly, in this case, his well-earned money is going into a cult that never EVER gives back to its members and communities, and instead, spends it on furthering the brainwashing material they spill on its ignorant followers.
By him donating ANYTHING to the cult, it shows just how ignorant he is. I bet you that if he knew what Scientology was responsible for like most of us do, he'd stay as far away as he could from them.

Re: Shoot all Scientology – Since you want to get rid of religion you would have to shoot about 95% of the worlds population. I don't think that would leave you with many family and friends, and would probably lead to a real set-back in the way we (who are not shot) live.
What we should do however is to be more critical of what we believe, no matter which religion we choose. For example; if you are told that your religion started a trillion years ago (the universe widely belived to be only billions of years old), that 75 billion of people were transported to earth in spaceships that looked exactly like DC-8 airplanes (sans the visible engines), that the people were thrown into volcanoes and then blown up by hydrogen bombs, you should probably question if what you are being told is really true… But this is all hypothetical. No religion would claim that, right?
The mafioso cult leaders in scientology can't silence the many individuals who have left the cult and are testifying both in court and in the public media. So curse us all, but we are bright enough to hear the truth when it is told, we can read court documents, and we know in our hearts that the cult is poison.
